The Israel Palestine problem solving thread
@AW, @Guy,
thanks,
She's been the best little doggie. She was an abused pup when I got her, owned by the daughter of a friend's missus who thought she was getting a Paris Hilton handbag dog (big error there) who lived with meth heads in Ballarat. They were cruel to her, she blew her knee out about ten years ago chasing rabbits around the farm and when they X rayed her she had a slug still in her, lodged just under her spine. I wanted to go up and kill the cunts when I saw it. She was skinny and scared and had shaking fits, but me and my other Jack Russell Preston (RIP) sorted her out in short order. She blossomed quickly and has had the best life up here, 4 acres to chase rabbits and hunt rats all day, she's got back and front and side yards she rarely even used. Dog paradise.
I thought it might be time a year ago, she's blind and deaf and the hind legs are weak and she sometimes fell into her poo having a crap, so I took her to the Vet for an opinion and she stood on his table wagging her tail and licking him. He said her lungs and heart were still good as gold. She's still eating like a horse and could shit for Australia, but we've had some rough nights of late and I know it's soon, maybe very soon. I don't want her to suffer and it has to be about her, not me, but fuck it's hard to do. I secretly have wished a bit lately that I'd just wake up one morning and she'd be gone, but I've gotta man up and do it. She's a part of me and has been since the moment I first laid eyes on her, so it's like chopping off an arm, maybe worse.
You'll probably know when it's happened because I'll be gone from these pages for a bit.
Sorry to everyone for even bringing it up here, but even writing this has steeled me a bit.
Onwards and upwards boys.
Hey Adam... don't be sorry. Please bring it up here and don't isolate Too Long. You'll wanna long after it has served it's purpose. My mom believes in The Rainbow Bridge. Dunno if you know of it. It's poem that describes a Pet Heaven where they all go and then the owners can see em when they go to Heaven.
That's my mom. Me? I struggle to be that saccharine. It helps my mom when she misses a furry and causes no harm. I believe that we are all energy and energy never dies it just transforms. When she parts, you'll see her again. When you're ready. You'll see her in the wind. But, that's just me.
@Guy,
up late keeping an eye on my girl (sleeping like a baby atm)
Sorry I missed that Temptations clip you posted.
Aw fuck, don't get me started on more of those Motor City bands and artists.
I'll be posting up faves for yonks and turn this thread into the Tunes thread.
I love so many genres of music and that era...fark!
Smokey Robinson, Otis Redding, Four Tops, Supremes, Gladys and the Pips, Sam and Dave, Queen Aretha and on and on and on. Bobby Womack, Stevie, I could fill dozens of pages. Soundtrack to a big hunk of my life.
Then there's the blues, BBKing Live at the Regal was the first record I ever bought, well actually I bought two that day, the other was Otis Redding one side/Jimi Hendrx the other, live at Monterey. Still listening to all of them fifty odd years later.
When I was 13 my best mate's old man ran The Sunday Observer who sponsored the Stones Tour in '73 and I got free tickets, saw them at Kooyong. First concert. That day changed my life forever. Recently tweeted Mick Jagger on twitter to thank him and he started following me back. My highlight for '23.
Got to see so many great bands when I was young. ACDC on one of their first tours, (the old 'sharpie' days in Melb., fight breaks out in front of stage, Bon Scott jumps off stage and just starts bouncing around amongst them, no punches, just bouncing himself off the guys brawling, big grin, just sort of feeding off the energy, band still playing, he was a big dude up close, stopped the brawling, turning it into a mosh pit, jumps back on stage, just a brilliant piece of manly crowd control).
Saw Chisel at Bombay Rock when I was 17, Barnsey in full flight, skulling Vodka and stagediving, got up on the balcony of the VIP section and started throwing full jugs of beer at them because they were still sitting. Scared the shit out of me. Saw the Oils at the Antler very early days, Garrett scared the shit out of me too, thought he was a lunatic. Small room, the entire crowd got covered in his sweat.
God, I could go on and on. Fill a book.
Time for bed. Dog's fast asleep and looks settled.
I think I am using SN for therapy atm.
Oops.
Edit. @Wax24
Yeah, I know the rainbow bridge. My greatest wish upon death, that I get to be with all the animals ( and humans) I've loved and lost. Getting me a bit teary now just thinking about it.
Gonna be asking you a bit in the future about SF and environs/surf. Never been, always wanted to, really interested. Hope you are up for it.
Always up for you got Adam. Pleasure as always til next time.

BTW. Have you ever read about the Merneptah Stele in Egypt, its an 3,200 year old Egyptian tablet that mentions Israel and the Jews.
"The Merneptah Stele (or Israel Stele) is an engraved stone slab which describes Pharaoh Merneptah’s military victories in 1207 b.c.e. The stele itself is dated to the year 1205 b.c.e. Renowned British archaeologist Flinders Petrie discovered this two-meter-tall, inscribed granite monument in 1896 at Thebes. It contains the earliest undisputed extra-biblical reference to Israel to date.
Israel is mentioned by name in three different 9th century b.c.e. artifacts: the Mesha Stele, Tel Dan Stele and the Kurkh Monoliths, but the 9th century is still 400 years after the dating of the Merneptah Stele.
The mention of Israel in this 3,200-year-old document suggests, at the time of its inscription, the nation of Israel was an established power and not a nomadic people who had just recently entered the land of Canaan. Before the discovery of the stele, many dated the Exodus much later, but now they are forced to reconcile with the fact that Israel was already an established power in Canaan in 1207 b.c.e.

https://armstronginstitute.org/122-merneptah-stele-proving-israels-3200-...IndoDreaming. Hi. Hope you and your family are well.
I nearly choked on my caviar when I read your first line,
“ I wouldn’t bother, Guy is a troll, dont feed him.”
Are you for real ?
See, I just looked up ‘troll’ in the Pictorial Dictionary of The World, I turn to page 666, what do I find, a picture of you.
Were you concentrating, trying your hardest, doing your best , when you wrote that preamble, one thinks not.
Ah well, I better go open a bottle of Grange and sit back and watch the lunatics at the asylum. Riveting viewing..AW
AW you have said this before, you clearly need to go learn what a troll is.
-Just because someone hold's different views from you does not make them a troll.
-Just because someone holds different views from the majority either in a place like Swellnet or the general public be it Australia wide or world wide does not make them a troll.
-Just because someone post things you dont like doesn't make them a troll,
-Just because someone post more than you like doesn't make them a troll.
Trolls are only after reactions, they are just trying to stir up shit generally because they dont like others views.
But generally:
-They will attack and mock people without actually being engaged in the conversation with that person.
-They generally have little interest in the topic of conversation, so you wont actually see proper discussion, their post wont be information based.
-Post will be aimed at attacking a person rather than bringing forward a viewpoint based in information, generally trolls will target one or two people.
If you look back over this thread and many others you will see a clear pattern in Guys behaviour.
You will see his post are not information based there is little to no interest in the topic being discussed (other than very early in this thread)
If you look back over this thread you will see the majority of his post are just one liners aimed at dissing or mocking me as if you havent noticed he has an obsession with me, i generally ignore his post, because i have no interest in engaging with him and a reaction is what he wants, hence why i said to Optimist don't feed the troll.

G’day Adam, hoping it works out for the best and thanks for your band stories, saw Lou Reed and the Valet Underground very young at festival hall

Interesting there’s a cross reference on that page to a subspecies of human endeavour at the shallow end of the gene pool titled Cockwombles and on turning the page there’s a picture of @info #alwaysanothercomment
This has been getting a run lately sooo smooth https://m.

I have heard whispers of some new Magical Twin Fin , for really OLD guys .
Wondering if THIS is IT ?
edit
In 50 years of surfing , I MAY have ridden a twin fin , twice ?
Its an interesting viewpoint and get what he is saying even agree with much of it, and Israel has had no choice but to negotiate for hostage release in this case.
But i still think countries should have a policy of no negotiations for hostages to begin with, not because they dont care for their people but purely because, if you are open to negotiating you encourage it to happen.
IMHO Israel made a huge mistake years ago when they did that crazy deal one hostage for 1,000 prisoners, set a terrible precedent.
But yeah its not an easy one.

Morning Pops, hey how about less old and more magic
Ridden lots of twins still have a keel that I got off DVS as a custom 20 years ago, love that board
So we talking currawongs and twin fins? Beautiful distractions from yet more avoidable genocide. Hold these c%^&s Putin, Netanyahu and others to account.
Or just keep warbling i suppose...

I see you have good taste @GuySmiley
- dvs is one of the kindest and funniest blokes I’ve had the pleasure to meet.
First scored a second hand dvs twin from a bloke one morning at the channon markets near byron back in bout ‘95…
That arvo took it out broken head and after making a mad little pit this bloke paddles up and goes “that thing goes good ay, nice tube…”
I replied saying that I was stoked, got it for $30 at the markets.
The bloke says “ I know, I sold it to ya “ haha
- that started a love affair with dirk’s boards that have lasted to this day. Got three in me quiver just now.
I encourage anyone up north to go see dvs and have a chat.
Absolute legend ;)

Was gonna stay off the SN forums (another fail) today but you brought up Lou Reed. Would have loved to have seen him with the Velvets. Solid R&R history right there. Got to see him during the Blue Lou era.
A God of R&R that guy.
If I got stranded on a desert island and could only take one album, 'Rock'nRoll Animal' would be the one.
His band on that album, the intro to Sweet Jane, the version of "Rock'nRoll". If I had a dollar for every time I've listened to that record over the years, I'd still be a rich man. Him, Iggy Pop, Bowie, the Warhol Triumvirate. Emperors.
Golden, untouchable, the three of them. Iggy Pop's shirtless performance on Countdown, miming "I'm Bored" and sticking the mike down his pants and thrusting in the faces of bewildered 12 y.o. girls is one of the great moments in Australian music history.
So thanks for "Perfect Day", love it. Gonna try and have one more of those today with my little doggie, sun's out, fun's on.
And btw Guy, if you're a troll (pffft) then so am I, and we'd have a great time under that bridge, the music would be rockin' that's for sure.
Totally agree Jelly, an inspirational person who shapes the most amazing boards guaranteed to put the stoke back into your day

Someone mentioned planks in the eye etc
Frog is planking it over on that thread of SR’s
@Guy, never seen that one. Epic.
And right back at ya...
Warhol FFS !
He was just a creative Ad man , Ad .
No Dali , but did do some Changes ( Bowie ) too .
Change Warhol , if U can't remember a third musician , with Picasso , please .
Caesar , Pompey and Crassus .
That is a real Triumvirate , to , imho .
CPC Changed history as the Triumvirate had ALL the necessary Ingredients .
BPM !
Brains ( Caesar ) , Power ( Pompey ) and Money ( Crassus ) .
As Caesar had the B , he ended up with ALL the P&M , to .
The Pen IS Mightier than the sword .
Always has been , always will be .
edit
Caesar was awarded a special " Medal " for extreme bravery ( think VC ) .
He had to wear it to every official function .
Everyone had to acknowledge the medal and had no excuse for not seeing it .
He wore it on his head .
Vine leaves .
He REALLY knew how to wield a sword to ( and ride a horse and speak 30 plus languages BUT he could REALLY write ) .
Legendary , his records from Gaul , are for ALL to read .
The Facts !!!
According to JC !
His Version IS better ( as recorded , word for mighty word ) .
A truely , remarkable , young man .
Reminds me of another young man with the same initials .
edit
Colleen McCulloch's version of Caesar is MY go to .
She was remarkable too .
Her hero , became my hero .
I was at an airport and saw my hero , Colleen .
As luck would have it , I had her Book , Caesar ( Caesar's Women being my favourite ) and asked her to sign it .
Luckily ( again ) , I had my Hard book ( nice one ) and she wrote a beautiful message .
That wonderful woman could REALLY chat .
She would be in my Top 10 chatterboxes and definitely in a top 10 dinner guests with JC , of course ( which one haha ?? ) .
edit
Why do all the guys in your T look like U , a bit .
edit A
Look Up .
Warhol was Legendary at Studio 54 , I will agree .
Campbells Cans FFS .
They should be in a Pantry , not on a Wall in a Gallery .
I have conservative tastes in stuff .
U were always .... out there , a bit more .
edit A & B ffs
Anyone who puts Warhol in a group with cool musicians and says , look at this , I will reply with a WTF , ok ?
@Pop,
Back in those days you and your bro were Mullum hillbillies, neither of you ever impressed me with your R&R education, some other things you've done were impressive, or left an impression shall we say.
Warhol wasn't just an ad man, he was a cultural catalyst. Some of the greatest musicians and artists of the C20th gravitated around and came out of Warhol's "The Factory", Lou Reed penned the classic "Andy's Chest" in honour of all that. All the characters Lou Reed sang about in "Walk on the Wild Side" were all real life freaks who hung around "The Factory" in those days.
I know you love Roman history and have quite a bit of knowledge. Rock&Roll history ain't your strong suit.
And weren't we supposed to stop talking to each other through these threads?
Your fault this time. Hehehe.

Adam12. Thanks for sharing, we are all caring.
I’ve just irrigated my evening meal, it’s bloody hard, parting with any pet let alone man’s best friend.
You know when it’s time, you look across, the gums have whitened , heart beats a little faster, life is slowly going in reverse , you go inside, grab your car keys and head to the vet. It’s the only honourable, loving , caring thing to do, but you know that.
Keep well (as can be) Adam.
@AW, @Jelly,@Wax24
Thanks boys. Means more than you'd know, being a solo man like I am, it's heartwarming and will strengthening knowing I've got compadres' out there that have got my back in this.
She had a lovely day today. Made a little bed on a little trailer and walked her round all her favorite old haunts on the property. She can't see but the sense of smell hasn't diminished and a couple of places the head went up and the nostrils were flaring and even detected a bit of tail wagging. @AW the gums are still bright pink. We came across a massive Eastern Brown sunning itself by the dam which didn't seem to care about us, didn't move, but I reversed pretty quick once I realised what it was.
She got bitten by a big brown once right in front of me years ago, did the fifteen minute drive to the Vet in about five, absolute panic stations with the dog just looking at me in the passenger seat while I'm thinking she's about to die. Dry strike, the Vet reckoned the big ones often do that and hold their venom, the little ones never do. Something I didn't know then. I was a fkn mess, Vet spent more time on me than the dog! Anyway, we had a good day. Spoke to my 93 year old Dad today, he loves the dog too and is ringing for constant upgrades, said he's struggling a bit himself atm and bit sick of being so old so asked if I could see if the Vet would do a two for one when the time comes. He thought it was funny, me not so much.
Thanks again boys. I'll be back here throwing punches again soon. That @greenroom comment the other day about all of us deserves a sting. But he can wait.
Adam
A message I would normally keep private and would be ringing U with , now .
My dog Ruby knew when she wanted to die .
She wanted to be by herself .
Very difficult for me , as I wanted to hold her hand .
Not my place to give advice so I will just say , I wish I took her to the vet a bit earlier .
Maybe that feeling is me being selfish .
Your instincts are good . Go with them .
I will ring U .
edit
I will never forget my red pooch .
I put her photo on the bloody phone .
Bad idea imo ( she is still on it ) .
I won't get another dog .
I don't want another new child to look after .
I am too busy .
Wait till we have a bloody surf trip BEFORE getting another fn dependant Ads .

You know the significant difference between yourself and Sam Harris Jelly? Sam Harris is very comfortable with people disagreeing with what he says, in fact he deliberately invites it by way of respectful debate and conversation. A great way to continue to learn. You on the other hand just start name calling and abusing people. Your way or the highway ;)

Opened up whole new worlds and experienced so many different cultures and picked up so many valuable and lifelong friends who are from all walks of life, occupations and religions.
The most valuable skill I would say is learning way beyond anything I thought I knew …and having the ability to pick up new perspectives, through respect and humility. Seeing things from new angles, discovering capabilities the mind would otherwise gloss over as useless or simplistic.
The idea any of it encourages or fuels aggro is a myth like a lot of other pre conceived ideas."

Seems Israel are targeting terrorist leaders outside of Gaza now apart from top Hamas leader Saleh Al-Arouri taken out in Beirut a few days ago there has been two more taken out in the last two days or so.
Two days ago Wissam Al Tawi high ranked Hezoballah commander was taken out by a drone in South Lebanon
And yesterday Hassan Akasha another key Hamas leader taken out up in South Syria near Israel border.
Its kind of interesting, on one hand these key figures being taken out in these areas really risk blowing the conflict up in these areas, but then on the flip side taking out these key figures in these areas weakens command and sends a strong message, and they might see it as inevitable that these areas will blow up more than they already have anyway.

All done with the help of US intel. Israel does nothing at the moment without US knowing. There will be US guys in Israel working with the IDF. The current war is a convenient cover to wipe out a few overseas based baddies.
The US will publicly mumble a few words for the world and be ok’ing Israeli to take out targets.
Good updates indo,…This is what the saudis etc wanted America to do in places like Iraq years ago. Just drop a missile on the culprits like Saddam etc and leave the people and armies out of it to get a new leader.
But, the yanks wouldn’t listen. U.S. and other soldiers boots on the ground for what ever stupid reason
Israel’s idea of putting fear back into the jihadi leaders no matter where they hide is a smart plan….and aren’t they good at finding them…. just a shame that so much infrastructure has to be dismantled in Gaza as the dogs of war have interwoven it all through the civilian population. They could not have done it though without the consent of the locals which was always going to backfire on them.
Hopefully this will end in two states with a new leadership and vision for Gaza turning it into a new Dubai or something similar instead of an underground rats nest….and now we see Isis bombing Iran ….funny how your sins come back to haunt you. Hopefully they will keep each other busy for a while and give Israel a rest.
If I was one of the 4 thieving Hamas scum leaders hiding away like cowards in Qatar , with the help of the Qatar govt…I would be worried. Eventually they will be taken out..hopefully sooner rather than later.
Because the world would be a better place if leaders only listened to Swellnet commenters, we've created a forum that makes it easy for them to gather our thoughts.
