Winki Cam Petition. Good or bad?
Hahaha are my thoughts, those days are long gone, you'll find some of the petitioners are the most prolific social media posters, oh the hypocrisy
I like to give it a quick look and particularly when it’s big or pumping. I’m a Melbourne
-based blown in though. I’ve never based a decision on surfing there (or Bells) from looking at the cam.

You can not take a video or a photo WITHOUT the express permission of the one you are taking a photo of, and then to make it public is not legal as far as I know. Sue them, gather those who have been affected and can prove their photo has been made public. You can't even do this on some social media sites, so they need to cease and desist.

haha definitely. Was thinking the same thing after reading it.
Busted my daughter going for a surf recently on the gallows cam putting her keys under the car instead of using her surf lock lol.
So they could be handy for thieves.
Would be interesting to know how much Swellnet pays old mate to have that cam on his house ?
any ideas .......

The BEST surf cam story I have heard , so far .
Would enjoy hearing how U told your daughter lol.
I would have made my daughter tell me ALL about her surf lol
Then , tell her what I saw .
I now LOVE surf cams !
ps
I still put car keys on a wheel .
love swellnet and the cams...
From memory they did have a cam that panned to a local classic several years ago, view from distance and not for long, but enough for a quick squiz. That cam lasted a couple of week's, and then disappeared. Now the cam only scans the beachie, which is usually dribble and a closeout. I thought it was a good move at the time. Still do.
but lets be honest, those arguments about both safety, and privacy - are both spurious.
No issue with the Surfline cam though?
Bells Beach cam rewinds

A nuclear State getting in on the show now....
What could possibly go wrong. :(
From Guardian
"Pakistan has launched retaliatory strikes against militants in Iran, in an apparent response to attacks by Tehran two days ago targeting sites within Pakistan’s borders belonging to a Sunni separatist militant group.
Pakistan had already condemned Tuesday’s attacks, which killed and injured at least six people, as “illegal” and had warned Tehran of “serious consequences”. Pakistan also downgraded its diplomatic relations with Iran, recalling its ambassador from Tehran and expelled the Iranian envoy in Islamabad
A statement by Pakistan’s foreign office early Thursday confirmed that Pakistan had undertaken “a series of highly coordinated and specifically targeted precision military strikes against terrorist hideouts in Siestan-o-Baluchistan province of Iran. A number of terrorists were killed during the Intelligence-based operation – codenamed ‘Marg Bar Sarmachar’.”
The missile and drone strikes by Iran were in response to a suicide bombing carried out by Isis-K, the Afghan branch of Islamic State, which killed 85 Iranians in the south-eastern city of Kerman on 3 January. Iran had also carried out strikes against Syria, Iraq and Kurdistan.
Iran has long accused Pakistan of allowing separatist terrorists to hide out in the border region of Balochistan, which was targeted in the strikes.
Pakistan’s decision to respond with retaliatory strikes raises concern of further escalation of the tensions and violence that have been spreading across the Middle East and Asia since the 7 October attacks by Hamas and Israel’s bombardment of Gaza."

Can't see a mention on Swellnet of the Winki Cam Petition that is doing the rounds on social and mainstream media. I get the argument against it and I believe it may have increased crowds a bit, but I use it and like it. Thoughts?
