As in Australia the right wing media (and social media) is relentless with their untruths. If this is all you’re exposed to you’d be outraged with the left if your brain cells don’t quite gel.
It lost Shorten the unlosable election in my opinion.
People whose brain cells don’t quite gel are taken for a ride daily and they don’t question anything.
If you can claim ‘they’re eating the dogs etc etc’, as one example, and become the POTUS you must have some help.

This bloke sums exactly that up in a pretty reasonable fashion @seeds.

I doubt it affected the result in any significant way, but many on the left (not liberal, though maybe), didn't vote for this reason, and for left wing (not liberal) commentators/internet talking heads who have huge issues with the Democrats already, spoke at length about their disgust with Biden's handling of Gaza and the Democrats not holding Israel to account, and that was one reason they wouldn't be voting for Kamala, if they were already.

I was listening to veteran of the US Army Special Operations Command and anti-imperialist Greg Stoker a lot leading up to the election. To me, it sounded like he was cutting of his nose to spite his face by saying don't vote blue, cos not taking into account project 2025 and all the other shit he comes with, Trump was always gonna be worse for Palestinians. However, who am I to argue? He's smarter than I am.

If anyone's interested, here's a podcast with Greg from a couple of days ago where he talks about Mahmoud Khalil, the difference between leftists and liberals, Trump's globalist agenda, Syria, and other guff. Sharp guy.

Will give that a listen...

I think one things clear, most of the commenters today (apart from the resident warmonger) have showed alot of compassion and concern for what's happening to our friends in the US right now. To you all, the good lot that you are. Huzzah!!!

Confusion, you’re stuck in extreme dichotomies. No one is saying that certain media didn’t help Trump. No one is saying that Musk didn’t have a huge influence through X. But people are saying that Biden’s/Democrats also had other issues that contributed towards Trump’s reelection. Fuck, they kept clearly ill Biden till literally the last second while lying to everyone that he is perfectly fine. They only moved him once it was 100% clear that Trump will win the election and that was too late. They had the biggest inflation in decades. They had conflicts popping out all over the place. Yes, not everything was fully under their control but regardless, your job is to fix it.
All these things are not mutually exclusive and they coexist in parallel. You calling everyone a Trump lover because they don’t fall into this view that media is the only reason Trump got elected is ridiculous.
Anyway, I don’t want to talk about the election anymore. It’s done and dusted, there are bigger issues to think about right now.

I agree that the media influences people, pretty obvious really, in Trumps case I believe he has more media against , than for him.

If the media helped Trump win the election it was because of the negativity towards him, it's the same deal with all the law fare and even the two assassination attempts, It didn't hurt him, it only helped him.

Rightfully so. I’m satisfied that most of it is close enough to the truth compared to the pro Trump media. Half of the USA isn’t having a bar of that media. Maybe social media is the biggest culprit with it’s algorithms.

Exactly. The pro Trump media had more and more material to cast him as the messiah.

According to Fox , the crashing stock market, rising inflation and unemployment, and negative GDP growth are all Bidens fault,
Even though Trump took credit for the record stock market in Jan 2024 , because investors thought he was going to win the upcoming election.
Hypocrisy 101

Why do you think Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion or something, and then gut it by
70 percent ?
That was the source the pro Trump misinformation,

I heard something the other day that in Trumps first term, there was something like 600 billion(someone check my maths) in fraud being spent in the US.
So kinda hard to put the blame on Biden when it was happening under his own administration in his first crack. But clearly it's all semantics. Biden is his response to anything and everything to keep attention away from his crooked ways.

That's because most of the funding continue's under each government unless its looked into like DOGE is doing it wont be stopped.

For example USAiD is said to be one of the biggest areas of fraud, NGO's just hold out their hand and get the $$$ and it automatically gets ticked off.

"This is a gigantic fraud loophole where the government can give money to an NGO and then there are no controls over that NGO. So they've given billions of dollars, in fact, we estimate tens of billions of dollars to NGOs that are essentially scams," the Tesla CEO said."

"One of biggest sources of fraud': DOGE chief Elon Musk explains why his team targeted USAID"

600 billion under Trumps nose in his first term, and he didn't bat an eyelid? You're missing the point. He's blaming Biden for doing the exact same thing he did.
