SF, What do you think of Albo not knowing the unemployment rate? You have to admit that is pretty poor?...a real fuck up that should not have happened.

Albo is more interested in his makeover and getting on the cover of Vogue.

It wasn't a mistake. It was lazy unpreparedness of the worst kind for an ALP wanna be PM not knowing basic stats like that.

Another reason why he won't ever be PM...and the electorate knows it.

Yep...but seriously day one of campaigning and he doesn't know two basic super important things????

1. The official Reserve Bank cash rate

2. The national unemployment rate.

WTF?

These two things should be tattooed on his brain, how the fuck can they let him go out there not knowing these two basic important points?????

Especially when this election seems to be ramping up on who is the better economic managers and who can be trusted to manage the economy.

Looking forward to the LNP adverts using the footage too, they will be happy it happened on day one, you couldn't script a worse amateur hour start.

During the pandemic, the Qld premier showed she was void of any compassion toward border people including doctors ,nurses trying to work ,sick kids with families separated ,teachers and business owners. She has also sold whitsunday islands to the Chinese cheap on 99 year leases. She also can’t recall important numbers , facts and figures when asked…she then gave the position of governor to a health minister who told everyone astra Zeneca was toxic…now she tried to silence a corruption investigation which is still current….and yes Albo has stated that he wants to run all of Australia just like her…..bloody heck….

Remember when Morrison and his ministers were denying any knowledge of the sexual assault of a staffer in an office just down the hallway from Morrison's? Optimist, the heretic, posted many comments here questioning the motives and character of not Morrison nor his ministers no no it was the victim he went after. What a cunning stunt.

Remember when Richard Colbeck, Morrison's Aged Care Minister, couldn't remember how many residents in his nursing homes had covid or had died from covid and how somehow according to the SN resident LNP cheer squad it was someone else's fault?

No No lets all say the sky is falling in because Albanese couldn't answer a couple of questions.

Albo has more important issues to deal with like banning those disgusting gender specific words and dare I say racist words like white, plus banning homophobic misogynist racist childrens books to keep his core support base happy. Surely he is being bullied and victimized and should curl up into the fetal position.
Even I knew those answers, where the fuck has he been.

1st day campaigning after the election was called. Albo steps up to put his credentials forward as the next PM..and he fucks it up…total amateur. Today and going forward is about proving those that want to be PM are up to the job…Albo failed that test today.

Elections should be about performance reviews..however most voters don’t think like that. Most voters vote for selfish reasons and based on what is best for them.

Heard Howard on the radio, he wasn't exactly coming to his defence, when asked he sounded like he didn't know what had happen and was a bit put on the spot sounding like he was playing it safe not wanting to get himself or anyone else in trouble as seemed he didn't know the whole situation, I'm sure he will regret saying that though as will LNP as should be hammering Albo and Labor over it.

I mean seriously a while back Scomo copped it for not knowing the price of bread and milk, something that varies in price hugely and even if you buy these type of items, most people dont take much notice of the price as we all have our go to bread and milk and just buy and swipe, price is irrelevant.

Much different to not knowing two very important aspects related to the economy and your job.

“Is that a serious question?” Howard said.
“Anthony Albanese didn’t know the unemployment. Alright. So what?”

Reads like he understood to me, indo.

Indo writes "I mean seriously six months ago Scomo copped it for not knowing the price of bread and milk"
WRONG. Actually, you're WRONG TWICE in one sentence, which is quite an achievement.
Firstly it was 9 weeks ago. It wasn't 6 months ago.
Secondly, it was bread and FUEL.......... Petrol.............. You know, the stuff that powers ships to bring in surboard blanks from China? The stuff that truckies, cabbies, delivery drivers, and EVERY BUSINESS STILL relies on to function? I bet even grandpa Biden knows the price of a barrel of crude.
He also couldn't say what a r.a.t test cost.
So. Well done, Indo. I'm hoping for 3 wrongs in a sentence next time. I know you can do it ;)

The 4% figure is a farce anyway, what is under employment figure? Work 1 hour per week and classed as employed. Pfft, yeah Albo stuffed up, but if Scotty can get away with holidaying in Hawaii while Australia burns, having knowledge of a rape in parliament house, the countless rorts, the continual getting caught out lying and being a bully, (face it he is a prick of an individual), forgetting to order vaccines, blowing out debt to $1 trillion, blowing $$$ on French submarines and maybe getting some sorted with USA due in 2050 or later, supporting Christian Porter, not knowing if Trudge is in cabinet or not after having paid out his ex shag $500,000, and I could go on..... Then yeah Albo should step down down as he didn't know a meaningless figure off the top of his head
Some journalist should as Scomo how many people died by suicide due to their failed robodebt scheme, and remind the public how much they paid in damages, using tax payers money of course.
Yep Albo is history....

I suppose you could look at the point of difference on how the situation or similar is handled by the potential leaders. Albanese on to Sky News, owns it.
Scomo…….doesn’t hold a hose. rejects the premise of the question…….rejects reality and substitutes it for his own…and yours apparently. Consistently owns nothing.

I call opening day even after Howard’s voice of reason.

Let’s see what happens tomorrow.

Elections should be about performance reviews..however most voters don’t think like that. Most voters vote for selfish reasons and based on what is best for them.

total amateur

I think it’s hilarious reading what the Scott Morrison Party fan club have to say about albo’s stuff up . They are so excited about this and it’s what I find hilarious. I can picture them holding hands running around in a circle shouting “ we’ve won we’ve won “ Albo stuffed up then owned it and is more disappointed in himself than anyone , should he have known off the top of his head ? Definitely, but he’s moving on . The average punter is fully aware that the 4% unemployment figure is a farce and will pay more attention to reporters that ask questions that are more relevant to what the plan is for the future and the rising cost of living .

@ Sheepdog

The official Reserve Bank cash rate and The national unemployment rate are set numbers that change slightly over time and are very relevant to the job of being PM.

And it wasn't just one figure he didn't know but both.

The price of bread or fuel are not set price things, they vary hugely on brand or type of bread where they are sold, even fuel varies in price from unleaded, premium, diesel and from day to day suburb to suburb.

And not very relevant to being PM i doubt most people know the prices of bread of even fuel, you just buy them, generally the brands you know and trust.

It’s so bad. However, it won’t get much media traction.

I think Scomo and his govt are really crappy, Scomo especially comes across as an unpleasant uncaring individual.

Surely people on both sides of politics cannot wait to get rid of this mediocre slob. Scomo is the most pathetic leader Australia has ever had.

I think Albo’s stumble was pretty bad but it will not have a negative impact on my opinion of him. However, I can only imagine what would happen if this was Scomo. Next 5 pages would be full of ridiculous memes and the ridicule would never stop.

That’s probably true flollo. But cmon we have had nearly 10 years of this LLP government. They have A higher standard. Secondly given the last 3 years let alone 10 who gives a shit

Hmmmmm. Seems former prime minister John Howard disagrees with you, Roadkill.

No big deal.

We will know soon enough what people think. I love elections, I find the whole thing fascinating.

Agreed on the elections front. All this anti govt posturing makes you wonder if it will be a landslide victory to red or it's all white noise like last time. Trojan horse from the MSM perhaps?. All of a sudden newspolls have The PM as the preferred PM, seems a bit suss if you ask me

Spot on. For most of my adult life I've considered myself a socially progressed (lol) centre-right individual. The past three years, revealed the swing voter in me and a considerable shift to the centre-left.

Be fucked how anyone can defend Scomo, his govt, his record, his character, his integrity, or his 54 point roll call of fuck-ups anymore? Some of Indo Dreamings died in the wool and unwavering support for this govt is something I can't understand. I feel like this type of old-school/ideological/dogmatic thinking will see these c***s get elected for another 3 years.

Watching albo fuck up his presser today confirmed those feelings on a visceral level. Amateur hour, Christ he fucked that up. Good on him for fronting back up to Sky. The worst is yet to come on that front though.

On paper, Ive always felt the biggest differences aren't necessarily policy, it's personality. With that said, I don't think this current coalition has the average punter's best interests at heart. Whereas I feel Labor genuinely does.

Unfortunately, it's slim pickings in the Moncrieff electorate on all
sides of the political spectrum. Almost worth moving down to Sutho just to vote this guy out.

The first full day of "official" campaigning saw a classic "gotcha" moment.

Labor leader Anthony Albanese was asked straight up: What's the unemployment rate and what's the "RBA rate".

He didn't answer the second question at all and fumbled on the answer to the jobless rate.

Later he fronted the media and apologised for getting it wrong.

But immediately after that a journalist asked him again, "What is the cash rate?".

He answered: 0.1.

This time, it was the answer the journalist was looking for, but in this case they were both wrong.

The cash rate, as set by the short-term money market, as of Monday, was 0.06 of a per cent.

It's the interest rate banks pay to borrow funds from other banks in the money market overnight.

That's different from the Reserve Bank's "cash rate target" which is currently 0.1 per cent. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-04-11/albanese-election-cash-rate-gotch... Gotcha media moments can be dramatic, but they are also great opportunities for the candidate to really step up.

Both leaders could have said, "I think you mean, what's the cash rate target? It's 0.1 per cent. It has been for some time. What's the purpose of your question?"

I agree with you. I’m for a change as we need improvement in neglected areas like health. But I do like to call out different standards. When there is ridicule against Scomo it’s all fun times. But when there is one against Albo it is a Murdoch controversy. I don’t want to defend Scomo, keep the memes going, fuck him. But also, can we have some memes against Albo?

I suppose Albo could pull out his banjo and sing a Ted Mulry gang track, maybe "Jamaica rum" , to get everyones mind off stuff.
