^ that was a really nice half-hour watch @Jelly. What a lovely presentation. In the same way that a certain percentage of, I dunno.. 'westerners'?... will say, "middle-east is dirty sand arabs who want to push their psychotic ideology", there's a percentage outside of the west who say "the west is just dirty cities of homeless drug addicts and sluts, arguing about political parties that feed big companies endless streams of working class money".
people are people and just wanna get by.
The big wheels turn the machine, the poor clap along or get irate, we all aspire to middle-class wonder, and the sun rises.
As I watched the first part of that video, when the people were on the subway, in my mind I was making a comparison with some of the more dangerous parts of the US . I’ve been fascinated before watching videos of Lebanon & Libya in the 50s 60s .
- glad u enjoyed it @b6, a mate of mine from the US (of syrian heritage) visited tehran last year for work.....his wife and him exclaimed how 'civilized' it was haha, they were there for a month and travelled around a bit and were very surprised at how friendly most people were even when discovering that they were americans ;)
- of course, not every visitor may share their positive experience, but the wife wore a head scarf to 'fit in' and was continually amazed at the proportion of local women without hijabs and the overall relaxed atmosphere..... once again, the void between the people and the politics is a real thing - much like a lot of the west ;)
Part 3 of that vid is particularly interesting, and I'm not gonna say Iran is a perfect model of a society nor everyone's cup of tea - yet, the history and the culture in reality exists beyond western fear mongering propaganda.
...now, I've travelled through the US on many occasions over three decades and seen the changes and the glaring disparity between wealth and poverty. Same in china. Every country has it's strengths and weaknesses as a people and as a functioning 'mass'. Gotta wonder why the west keeps demonizing countries when it's got more than a few demons at home that need slaying ;);)

&pp=ygUPZ3V5IHVzaW5nIHRyYW5xGood question, Jelly. Why are humans so good at pointing the finger, and so bad at not noticing the other three pointing back? Most probs lie within. Not all (Noah approaching is not an "inside job" lol). That's why yelling at one tree in the forest is a silly exercise. Unless that tree is you.
^ love it @wax

...humanizing people, whether iranian or muslim or southern twangy or even full bore bogan isn't a crime. Things change, and people and cultures adapt and evolve. No people (collectively) want war. A key is not being fooled into believing it is a necessity ;)
I just got back from the US last week. It was a bit of holiday/work trip. Loved every minute of it. US is booming in many places. I didn’t see any issues like these videos but I didn’t really go to these problematic pockets. Everyone knows which areas are best to avoid. LA has some rough spots and I didn’t spend much time there. I know the city well, been there before. I was impressed by Salt Lake City and blown away by Nashville, Tennessee. SLC is really cool, it was a bit quiet due to summer heat, I reckon it comes to life in winter with skiing. Very well organised, clean, busy, awesome roads. Also, no one talked about politics. Didn’t see any flags or that kind of nonsense. Met a whole bunch of happy people.
Back in a day I did quite a few trips across the Middle East and North Africa. There are some great places with impressive cultural heritage to visit. People are awesome. Iran is not some backward place, especially in the cities. Most people know this. I never met anyone who talked about it as some ‘dirty sand shithole’.
Nice to hear a balanced view @flollo ;)
- I've only ever had great times in the US too, Texas is amazing and vegas (even for a non punter) is a sensory adventure. I've never seen the zombie stuff and, of course, never ventured into shady bits. New York I found not to be particularly flash - San Diego was lotsa fun. Other than surfing ocean beach and seeing the wave under the bridge break, San Fran is so so. Can't get enough of Yosemite and some areas round Santa Barbara.....
- Syria about 25 years ago was a highlight of my travels through those parts and fark, well, Morocco..... almost stayed forever haha
https://m.
&pp=ygUNc2FuZHNwaXQgc3VyZg%3D%3Dempathetically cleaning up the shit in one's own backyard is beyond many nations now, just finger pointing. Not us *just* yet. Good post. She's as on-point, needed and insufferable as a snivellingly smug Jordan Shanks-Markovina; she's a thing @bonza! I like her.
"culture is flexible" "my beautiful land Iran" "my beautiful Iranian women" "I want you to join us" "I am in Iran every single day" "supporting your sisters in Iran does not make you Islamophobic" "Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Republic, Taliban, they're all about expanding their own ideology" "I see people in the street cursing Islamic ideology... I see the young people here being the victim of political Islam"
does that sound like a people to vilify and who want to suffer while they endeavour to grow societal equity?
"people of the west cancel me" "women... we carry the wounds and the scars" "we have to save the mindset of the young generation" "join ordinary women of Iran and Afghanistan to help democracy across the globe"
does that sound like a people to vilify and who need to suffer while they grow their gender parity?
...they (women) are fighting, giving their middle fingers to surveillance cameras, a new dawn of online global accountability "practicing their civil disobedience" "I don't think there is a powerful leadership in the west to do something" "US government handing out millions of dollars to the oppressive regime" "we don't want you to save us, but stop supporting the politics"
does that sound like a society, not on the move to improve their lot, and who are asking for heavy-handed intervention... while aggressively digging their heels into the sand?
She's a bit of a Ted Talker, but definitely okay stuff, one of the many ways the culture is modernising from within. Greedy bastards run aspects of their lives. They think it is fucked. Let's help! Fuckin calm down and don't let the wowsers and reactionaries set the agenda. Let the mums and dads grow their culture in peaceful and calm circumstances. Before THEY convince you people aren't people... and there are some societies in the world born with horns.
I hope the Iranians love their children too. Would people even get Sting's irony today?
the players change, but the song remains the same.
I’ve given up watching the news, Palestines obviously a mess, but the thought that so many Americans would vote for a dictatorship is a depressing worry.

the optics are working
trump needs to do whatever it takes to debate kamala - if this means turning up to abc... then so be it...
he will appear a pussy otherwise
I'm sure he'll turn up anyway, regardless, he knows talking, her record, and policy is her weakness...

Bloody Covid , proved it !!!
We are being FED by Authority , to Accept what We are being Told .
And it';s Bullshit !
It's bloody all designed ( by Who ? ) , to corrupt the Smartest , the Decision Makers .
It's perfect except , the Commoners , the Trades people , the silent majority , don't believe it .
It's all part of the Establishment , that hates Trump .
The Market DOES like Trump , it doesn't Play Politics , but works on fundamentals .
All Energy companies and Manufacturing 2 .
Big Pharma better watch out .
I hate that Australia is 1 of the BIG 5 , in this Race ffs !
Wall St will do well whoever fn wins .
@Sypkan, all a matter of perspective really.
Dems. have pop stars and some major celebs, GOP has Hulk Hogan, Scott Baio, Roseanne Barr, Kevin Sorbo and other 80's wash outs. Oh and John Voight, (the actor not the periodontist) who is posting some A grade rubbish pro Trump himself.
Does it matter?
Probably.
And what you may think is A grade trolling by Vance others see as a B grade stunt from a struggling VP candidate.
He's been a dud so far, a joke really. Walz is riffing on him. Vance has said he wants to debate Kamala not Walz. He's scared of him like Trump is of Harris.
If they were confident they would be saying "bring it on, any time, anywhere".
They are prevaricating.
Trump has said he will debate Harris in a call in to Fox about 12 hours ago.
He knows he can't avoid it. He said it will happen, but not where or when.
It will happen on ABC as scheduled. Not Fox.
Going on current form, Kamala should own him, but we will see. And if it's a policy debate, Trump doesn't do policy too well himself, just grievance.
Scott Baio was on Fox in the last 24 hours begging Trump to stick to policy in any debate and bemoaning his tendency for grievance and wandering off into bullshit.
If the GOP need advice from him it says something, (and Chachi looks like he's been hitting the meth too just quietly, the Fonz would be pissed!).( Btw, do you follow Henry Winkler on twitter? He's such a positive happy guy, loves his fly fishing, good egg the Fonz.)
Other things to look out for, Trump's NY trial finding, what will the Judge decide? Fine or jail time?
Also the Trump electoral plants in Michigan and other swing states who have given themselves power to withhold certification. (Not legally by the way, "shall" certify doesn't mean "maybe" or "depending" at law)
Team Trump is already plotting another "I was robbed".
It may play out like that again but it won't matter in the end.
He's finished, I didn't think so a few weeks ago, but I'm pretty convinced of it now, barring a black swan.
The world needs to move on from the Trump clown show, the GOP do too.
Too much at stake to be idiot watching any longer.
Say what you want about Harris' background or policy, but she's turned a 6 point deficit into a 2 point advantage across the board and is tied or ahead in most of the swing states, in a matter of weeks. Hasn't made a misstep so far. Her VP pick looks a winner.
Can she maintain the momentum? We will see.
Will you keep finding faults, like the fluff you posted above? Yep.
I've got no problem with that by the way, but something better than "rent a crowd" (Like Trump has not done that himself), and Vance pulling a pathetic schoolboy stunt would be good.
If you want to talk A grade trolling, then I think you should mention Walz too, "I can't wait to debate the guy, that's if he can get up off the couch". Pretty good zinger, and his "they're weird" stuck pretty well too.
Trump has not found himself in this position before. It will be interesting to see how he responds.
A lot at stake for him, good chance if he loses he will be going to prison.
Where I personally think he belongs, not for paying off a porn star, but for the insurrection, and the classified documents. And probably for what he and Epstein got up to before they fell out.
Trump won’t debate because he’s an absolute mess. He was a mess in the debate with Biden but it didn’t show as much as Biden himself was an even bigger mess.
Trump doesn’t offer anything of value, it’s time to move on. His isolationism alone should be a worry for everyone. We don’t live in that world anymore.
Depends on how you define isolationism.
If “isolationism” simply means being skeptical of how U.S. foreign policy has been practiced for the past eight decades and means being doubtful of the benefits to the United States of exercising global leadership, then it sounds like a discussion that needs to be had.
Trump is better described as a protectionist, a nationalist, and above all, a transactionalist.
A Trump return to the White House doesn't mean an inevitable U.S. retreat from the world.
Yeah I agree with that. That’s not what I’m referring to. If anything we should be worried about Harris on that one. I still can’t get my head around Biden’s eagerness on Ukraine. I knew they will get involved but this much? And how much he talks about Ukraine and Putin? So much energy was given to this space. It’s just strange.
Regarding Trump; I’m referring more to his economic policies. He’s a reactionary populist. I see him slamming tariffs and starting economic wars not because they are needed but because they might sound popular in his own head.
- "...all wars are banker's wars ...plenty of evidence to support that" ;)

Vance is a pure isolationist...more so than Trump, who is an opportunistic isolationist. Vance is far more inwards looking than just about any President or Vice President since forever.
you talk like chachi ain't cool...

there's only one thing such a dumb president can be useful for...
let's see how she goes in debates
they'll happen, regardless of dems talking points as to who is scared...
walz clearly competent
but once again, a questionable record... plenty of material...
I don't think vance scared of anything, im sure he can hold his own... the couch line was gold, but, is it even true?
so, therefore a dirty low line?
once again, in our world of augmented reality, it is near impossible to know if it's even true...
personally I don't give a fuck, boys will be boys... but even CNN saying it's a false claim...
whereas, when I dug a little, seemed it had foundation...
strange world we're living in...
weird

trump way ahead of the curve re. bringing manufacturing capacity and jobs back
corona just vindicated his position

makes one wonder about how certain ukranian 'elites' have money to invest outside of ukraine... e.g. bali... and how they are draft dodging, whilst even the mentally handicapped are recruited for front lines...
mind blowing
