Here you go optimist

Not sure my motivation...my instinctive need to stick up for the underdog...my secret desire to be one day honoured rightfully with the role of Forum moderator (expecting a call any day)...

But anyway I couldn't help but read your troubles on another thread...unfortunately I found myself siding with everyone's posts...other than your own...except for the part where you were told you can't post here!

So I put my low IQ mind to coming up with a solution that suits all...and here it is...a safe place if you like

You can post anything you like about your beliefs...and no one has to read it unless they want! Easy peasy...

maybe you could even get Jesus, fat Buddha, Mohammed, and friends to converse in adult conversation here

Solving the world problems, one at a time...call it taking a shovel as a way of moving that mountain

All the best...brother

PS...I actually was born again once, but I grew up, and grew a brain of my own...and realised it was all a load of shit!

@ashsam, never mind all the detractors, the contrarians and agitators and dickheads with dickhead comments are what gives these threads the edge IMO. Fires up the boys. Bit of entertainment.
I've been reading some of your comments.
Got a question. may seem a bit random.
Do you keep pigeons or doves?

And this is what you have been craving. I must say I was amused when you told JF that nobody watches his videos and then a few comments later you stated that they didn’t make sense . Obviously you watch them but don’t understand where he’s coming from which I found amusing . I guess you could come back with “ small things amuse small minds “ .

@ashsam, ok I'll explain myself.
Noticed when you were doing a bit of pulpit posting, trolling for Jesus, the other day and you quoted some passages from the Book of Leviticus.
How homosexuals are sinners, an abomination, Leviticus 18:22 I believe was the passage.
So I've read a bit of the Book of Leviticus and before we learn that gays are an abomination, it says this in 15:19-33...
"
Leviticus 15:19-33
19 “Whenever a woman has her menstrual period, she will be ceremonially unclean for seven days. Anyone who touches her during that time will be unclean until evening.
20 Anything on which the woman lies or sits during the time of her period will be unclean.
21 If any of you touch her bed, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening.
22 If you touch any object she has sat on, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening.
23 This includes her bed or any other object she has sat on; you will be unclean until evening if you touch it.
24 If a man has sexual intercourse with her and her blood touches him, her menstrual impurity will be transmitted to him. He will remain unclean for seven days, and any bed on which he lies will be unclean.
25 “If a woman has a flow of blood for many days that is unrelated to her menstrual period, or if the blood continues beyond the normal period, she is ceremonially unclean. As during her menstrual period, the woman will be unclean as long as the discharge continues.
26 Any bed she lies on and any object she sits on during that time will be unclean, just as during her normal menstrual period.
27 If any of you touch these things, you will be ceremonially unclean. You must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening.
28 “When the woman’s bleeding stops, she must count off seven days. Then she will be ceremonially clean.
29 On the eighth day she must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons and present them to the priest at the entrance of the Tabernacle.
30 The priest will offer one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. Through this process, the priest will purify her before the LORD for the ceremonial impurity caused by her bleeding.
31 “This is how you will guard the people of Israel from ceremonial uncleanness. Otherwise they would die, for their impurity would defile my Tabernacle that stands among them.
32 These are the instructions for dealing with anyone who has a bodily discharge—a man who is unclean because of an emission of semen
33 or a woman during her menstrual period. It applies to any man or woman who has a bodily discharge, and to a man who has sexual intercourse with a woman who is ceremonially unclean"

So that got me wondering if you actually believe in what the Book of Leviticus was saying, or like many religious people, Christians, you just quote that passage as God's verdict on homosexuality yet still sleep in your missus' bed when she is menstruating, touch her or her chair and don't get a priest to cook a couple of pigeons at the end of the monthly shark week.
Do you follow Leviticus or just use one passage from it?
Does it make you and your missus sinners in the eyes of God if you don't do the whole no touching and bird cooking thing? Does that make you an abomination too, like gays?
Do you follow the Bible or just cherry pick to win arguments about gay people?

Genuinely interested in your thoughts.

@ashsam,
Ok, so you are just Woody Woodpeckering for Jesus, quoting scripture to agitate. You are locked in some Jelly War. Good luck with that, you're playing in the wrong division IMO, fighting for a belt over your weight limit I reckon, but it's sometimes fun to watch.
Glad you aren't a pigeon cooker type of Old Testament Christian like Opti, (although bet he doesn't cook pigeons every month either).
The thing about Leviticus, the Bible you follow and gay people being an abomination I find interesting, a bit confusing, is that the Bible version you, and Opti, follow and quote scripture and anti gay passages from was commissioned by and named after an English King that did quite a deal of laying with men like a woman, "steeped in gayness" as George Costanza would say was old mate James 1.
Quite the abomination himself.
Anyway, I'll let you get back to counting youtube videos or whatever the fuck it is you do here.

I was curious about this menstruating thing.

This was a good explanation below that makes sense.

I think you have to remember (or understand) the old testament is the Torah the Jewish book, and Judaism came out of a combination of an older Canaanite religion and Israelite beliefs, culture it grew out of something very different they had god's and goddesses and sacrifice's.

Then when Judaism formed it took a lot of that influence it was still very raw, sacrifices of animals, focus on sites and temples like the temple on the temple mount.

Then when Jesus and Christianity formed and new testament written 500 years or so latter it had progressed and evolved into something very different with a move away from this raw high traditional aspect and a move away from the importance of temple. (well that's my understanding)

And clearly much of it wasn't written thinking of a bigger world it was only written thinking about the land they were living in

Explanation below cut & pasted

"According to Leviticus 15: 19-20, I am impure when I am on my period, and so will be anyone who touches me. Why would the Bible say something like this?

It doesn't say that you are impure. It says that ancient Israelite woman are impure for the purpose of temple worship.

Also, if a man has a seminal emission then he is impure. And when a woman gives birth to a child she is impure. These are all related to reproduction.

Many other things would also make an individual impure for temple worship: touching a dead body, leprosy and various diseases, touching the carcass of an unclean animal like a lizard, and contact with anyone who has these conditions.

Ritual impurity is not a sin. Jesus became impure rather frequently by touching dead bodies, healing the sick, and such. Yet Jesus never sinned.

It only meant that those people could not go into the temple compound for sacrifice and worship.

Temple purity was a symbol of the divine nature. God doesn't reproduce new generations of himself, because God is eternal. God doesn't die, because he is the author of Life. God doesn't get sick and weak, because he is the source of all strength. All of the things that made Israelites impure were antithesis to the nature of God. It was a symbol.

Humans are intrinsically impure and lacking in God's nature. It happens to everyone. It is unavoidable. We need cleansing. We need communication with our Maker. By bathing and waiting till night, and perhaps sprinkling some red-heifer ash depending on the situation, you could momentarily achieve God's level of purity. But it was short lived and fleeting.

Of course the bleeding, the pussing lesions, the grave keeper work are not intrinsically evil. That is all part and parcel of the symbolism. What truly makes us evil and untouchable by God is not the blood that comes out of us, but the immorality and pride and greed that we display. Sin makes us unclean. Jesus said something to this effect in Mat 15:17-19.

The symbolism of ritual purity and the lack there of by humans was pointing toward Jesus. The Israelites were commanded to live out this object lesson for almost 1000years. We don't need the symbol anymore because today we have the reality in Christ. He bestows on us a better purity. Jesus is a permanent purity. His purity is not fleeting. It is no longer an inevitable monthly occurrence that every woman will be impure and separated from God.

The temple doesn't exist anymore, none of us live in ancient Israel, and Hebrews 10 says that Jesus fulfilled God's purpose in these laws, so that stuff does not apply to us today. If you have the righteousness of Christ in your life, then you are not impure."

It is interesting how bodily hygiene and ritual cleanliness was managed in the ancient world. Clean and unclean was the norm then and ritual importance in each culture managed in all different ways.
We have it easy these days with all our mod cons, like female hygiene products, washing machines , lots of cheap sheets from spotlight etc…
….hanging with the girls every month down near the river was probably a time to catch up on girl stuff and like aboriginal women who had their women’s business times, women all around the world had their own sacred and supervised way of handling things…its easy being a bloke ain’t it.

100% all this stuff was written in a totally different time, biut it all had a basic practical reason to be written, in some case's it's no longer relevant to modern life in other cases it still is.

Well then, if the rules about women's periods are redundant because it's Old Testament and period (ie time) based and doesn't apply in the modern world, then does the same reasoning apply to the rules about homosexuals laid out in the same Bible chapter? Do those rules also become redundant or does God still hate gays, regard them as abominations in this modern world?
Goose/gander?
Or we just cherry pick the bits that reinforce human prejudices, they are still God's Law, but the other rules we don't have to follow because it's old God's Law and we are modern now.
Hard to follow. Flawed reasoning. But to each his own.
Atheism isn't so confusing, there's no book of rules on who to love or hate, who gets on St. Peter's door list, no pigeons have to die for one's cleanliness, gay people are judged on individual merit like the rest of us. You don't have to study some story book to know how to live. Invisible voices that speak to you are regarded as a form of mental illness not divine specialty or closeness.
"God" is Gary Ablett and the "son of God" is Gary jnr. in the atheist world, and how either regard gay people has no bearing on anything or anyone.
I'm a godless heathen and I'm loving every minute of it.
Good times and then you die, that's my system, and if I'm wrong (I'm not) and there is a Christian God, then before I get sent to Hell, well He and I are going to be having a little chat, I don't think he will like what I have to say either, but by then The Stones should be touring Hell with Charlie Watts back on drums so I'll be looking forward to getting down to see that.
Opti and his mates will be "somewhere in the northern void", in Heaven, going to see Sister Janet Mead do that grooved up version of the Lord's Prayer and endless praising Jesus sessions, I'll be off my face in Hell with all my dead heathen mates on tour with The Rolling Stones, rootin' and rockin' like my glory years. Or more likely dead and doing what AW reckoned, decomposing.
Religions are interesting, like humans are, but also a lot of bullshit, like a lot of humans talk. Some of them like to do it here. Like me.
Anyway, that's killed a few hours on a lazy no waves Sunday. Early dinner, spag. carbonara, I'm gone.
This one's for you Opti...

Hey Base 6

I just got home from a Long Weekend in the Barossa Valley and loved seeing Adelaide again , it’s a lovely city with a great climate !

Adam 12 spent a lot of time in Churches and his comments above were interesting .

This region in Australia surprised me , as often felt Adelaide had little potential to grow .

I was told the city has 1.3m now and the place Grows Stuff , not just wine .

The area has beautiful buildings built in the 1830-50’s .

Very friendly people 2 .

AW

Hawaii highlight was my daughter’s second surfing lesson at Turtle Bay .

They ripped and their instructor won Winter Slab of the Year , during the lesson , not at the same time !

Me getting to know and surf the Island by having a wonderful guide , was cool 2 .

Adam 12 might find some Spiritually if he visited the Religiously Religious North Shore of Oahu .

The South Shore is fun 2 , with sets easier 2 predict .

The Parable of the two Debtors Luke 7 : 36-50

Now one of the Pharisees ( priests) invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table.
When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is – that she is a sinner.”
Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”
“Tell me, teacher,” he said.
“Two men owed money to a certain moneylender.
One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he cancelled the debts of both.
Now which of them will love him more?”
Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt cancelled.”
“You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.
Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman?
I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven – for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.”
Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Opti Footnote...
The story shows the equality of God and the grace of God through Christ.
Your sins whether minor or really bad can be wiped away by going directly to Jesus with a truly repentant heart.... it has to be real and from your heart, not parroting some religious prayer.
After the spiritual cleanse and you will feel it, try not to sin again.
The difference between all things right and wrong from that day with be very obvious to the "born again" soul so follow your conscience as it slowly develops into a God conscience.
When you stuff up and stuff up sometimes you will, you have your lawyer Jesus Christ to turn to as He is your mediator between you and God your father.
"Forgive me Father in Jesus name, help me not to sin and teach me your way".
The Owner of the universe has chosen this way to gather a people to Himself...
......a freedom even death cannot contain.

Most Humans need Guidance to help to do Right .

More humans find Religion , than don't .

It seems a very Natural Thing , 4 people 2 come together and Unite , behind Solemn beliefs .

Have a Great Sunday Opti !

Ive been thinking about and learning a lot about this religion stuff of late.

And of all the religious beliefs i think the idea's that i find most believable are animistic beliefs not one group of beliefs in particular but just the belief that there could be more than what we see and know and that perhaps objects or at least living things could possess a spiritual essence, not sure what that mean's for life after death, sadly i dont think that exist although i guess its possible that if spiritual energy exist that it could be reborn into an emerging life form of a new plant or animal etc.
