GuySmiley. Hi fella. Thanks, yes, a very honourable and worthy organisation run by Birdlife Australia of which I and others in our club have a lot of involvement especially in the Eastern states.
Also, anyone crossing the Nullarbor remember the days of Common Starling eradication at the border? Well it’s fortunately still operating,
Alarming numbers of the birds are being found in the Ravensthorpe, Hopetoun area on the SW WA coast with their Dept of Cons. doing their best.
Even though the Nullarbor Plain is a significant zoobiogeographical barrier some invasive species make their way west.
On another note,
The Nullarbor is essentially like a dry version of a body of water, many species from the east don’t disperse further than the central part of the plain, in essence it’s an imaginary demarcation line where, for example many species of all types of organisms exhibit minor morphological changes based upon where they live.
Eastern Brown Snakes transition to Western Brown Snakes, many native birds from the east also do the same, Eastern Spinebills become Western Spinebills etc, etc. it’s all fascinating.
Thanks for the reference Guy. AW

You’re absolutely correct RK, I’ve rarely (and reluctantly) contributed here but the deluded irony is that you and the resident 24/7 attention seeker think you have anything positive and balanced to say on this topic … and for @infoclusterfuckedinthehead who barely has his crayon licence to speak about maturity and education, a manbaby who says with pride that he doesn’t read books but swears by the university of YouTube, it’s beyond a joke so I do think it’s reasonable to question SN admin.
Its funny when people claim im the 24/7 attention seeker, yet Jelly brain post much more than me and about 50% of his post are just non related videos and pointless abuse, while i do my best to not get involved in back and forth abuse.
The difference is you agree with his stance so overlook how much he post or overlook all the pointless nonsense and abuse.
Lets be real you dont want balance, you despise balance, you hate hearing views that dont align with yours, you are basically a modern day fascist same deal as AW, you both want this thread gone.
I mean really dude how hard is it to just avoid the thread??
Surely you dont click and read every active thread?
It’s only those with a different view to Guy that he whines about. Everyone else gets a free pass. Oh and he runs to admin like a teachers pet.
Oh @Indo. Please don’t trip on the saucer en route to the spilt milk, wouldn’t want any crying now, would we.AW
Aah Boys,
Just popping back in to thank all you guys for the kind thoughts and words on the "Vale" thread. Woke up strong today and I'm fine, don't worry, the "sweet" I was talking about there hasn't arrived fully yet, a few rushes, but it's very close. I feel that.
Winter even returned for a day yesterday, felt like a little gift. Didn't ride it which is unusual for me, was all fired up but it was a bit short period and windswelly for my (after last year's marathon of pump) taste when I was up for it early, and when it lengthened a bit the wind got into my favorite reef so I scratched a go out. It really showed late so I went to a favorite lookout (Rip view) and just watched the energy for an hour or so on dark. Good stuff.
To @Zen,@Rabbit69,@blackers,@etarip,@Salty Dog@simba, thank you. Knew I forgot to address my post to all my good SN mates, sorry, didn't want to go back thru the thread at the time, bit rattled, but you guys get my equal respect and matey love to the ones I could think of then, and to them thank you too. Knew I'd get some responses and you guys really made me feel better reading them today, and having my little girl talked about, on here, on the net, for eternity seems to me like a nice little tribute to her. I'll take that.
I know I'm stepping between the war here with another little indulgent post. Last time, promise.
At the moment I'm feeling like life's too short, well the rest of mine is anyway, to be butting heads over this shit but as I know most of you pretty well by now, scrolling thru the last few days gave me some great laughs. Fkn hilarious some of it so don't go changing boys.
I've said here a few times, once you step into the fray these fkn things get like heroin (not that I'd know what that's really like) so I'll be happy to watch from the sidelines for a while, maybe toss in a scrap, but probably gonna get my methadone over on twitter for the mo'. You are restricted in the number of words there which limits my long winded style, it's got a block function which is very handy, and I can get abusive with politicians and others with a level of anonymity you don't get here once everyone knows you. Reckon SN threads might benefit from a few twitter like features, would love to see a "likes" function actually, but probably good reasons why not too.
So, as is my way, there's a lot more I could say, but today I won't. Just another heartfelt thanks to you all and some closure on the topic of my little girl here. Let you guys carry on the war.
So I'll leave you all with this one thought. No matter how bad things appear at the moment globally, and it all looks pretty grim, maybe the grimmest in my 62 years, we really don't need to worry, @opti's old mate in the sky has a plan, like always, he's sending us the answer soon. The only man who can fix things, bigly, is coming back to lead the free and unfree world to the greatness only he can deliver. No, it's not the second coming of Christ, but it's fkn close. It's this guy, formerly The Former Guy, soon he'll be the current guy, and it's all gonna be ok. Adios for today boys....
Awwww bless. He look absolutely fabulous, don’t you think? 😂😳

Sounds like sweet travels @AW. Stoked on the offshores at Cactus. We're coming into a little bit of respite from what has been the worst summer of howling SE's anyone can remember here which is nice. Even puffed W the last 2 mornings.
Amazing how the Nullabor separates the country. Robbed us of Wombats and Koalas over here.....well they may have been all eaten. ;-)
First time i saw a Major Mitchell cockatoo in the wild was somewhere out the back of Fowlers, on the ocean side. Was a majical haunting cry as it flew across the empty desert scape.
Also good to hear you're doing well @a12.
I think i've exhausted what little knowledge i have for now on this thread....sadly still seems like things are only escalating, and not de escalating.
Power and strength has it's limitations for peace i'd suggest.
Get a few beautiful waves in the bay there for me AW. It's one of the great surfing outposts.
https://museum.wa.gov.au/about/latest-news/evidence-wombats-are-alive-an...
I thought there was a remnant population on the south coast of WA? Also, the currawongs change, they lose the white highlights and the ability to sing, but they are there in WA from the border to the woodlands east of Norseman, I think.
AW what a trip - are you going to the Eyre Bird Observatory? Did that one 20 years ago, it was a decent adventure as was getting creative and finding out way back on the less beaten path. Hope you get some waves soon Adam, it was a bit windy and wild yesterday but fun once out.
You made my day VJ....hopefully they weren't the last two!
I'll be on the lookout now.
Ding dong.
can I come back in for a minute?
Not looking to score any more of that white powder (well, maybe a little taste)
But seems like that "strength and power" Israeli/US coalition has hit the shitter in the last 24/48/72 hours. Big rift. The inevitable forked road has arrived. Perhaps the lawyers in the State department have been having a quiet word to the White House that the South African World Court brief may very well get up. Perhaps they just are coming to their senses and remembered their principles, who knows.
But they are about to cut Bibi adrift and leave him to his own devices amidst the sea of Arabs. Let's see how that goes for him, fkn psychopath.
And @ Indo, when you have often talked about the goal of destroying Hamas as the motive and not more settler land and weird Holocaust revenge fantasies, note this...
BREAKING: After killing at least 24,000 Palestinians in Gaza - 70% of them women and children - Israel has not killed even one senior Hamas leader, according to US intelligence officials. From an article buried deep in the @nytimes.

Also, further to some commentary/opinion I have shared here, about who Israel should really fear, (not so much Iran) came across this today...
“The present leadership of Hamas, of the PLO, and of Israel should be excluded from any participation in any future political role,” says former Saudi Ambassador Prince Turki Al Faisal. “They have to pay for what they have done… All of them are failures.” pic.twitter.com/9UIP5gtj6k

Unlike Iran, The House of Saud don't fear anyone, including the Americans (more like vise-versa). Bibi and his gangsters should probably stay away from any Saudi embassies or summits me thinks for a while. I'm sure those Saudis have still got a good supply of bone saws.
Of all the ruthless MF's in the ME, those guys are the most ruthless of them all. And patient.
But as I said in my thank you post today, I still believe cometh the hour, cometh the man....

I think this article might be a bit misleading, most of the top dogs of Hamas live in Qatar or others are in hiding elsewhere like top dog Saleh al-Arouri that was taken out in Beirut two weeks ago.
Sinar is the top dog in Gaza that they have been hunting down, i think there is one other some Muhammed top dog that is said to have lost limbs and possibly even be in a wheel chair, although a photo or footage from the other week suggest this might not be true.
I know their houses are in rubble and escape tunnel's found and blown up, Isreal have been trying to assassinate some of these guys for a very long time though like years..
But yeah they are having trouble hunting Sinar down with the network of tunnels, i think they are worried he will actually slip out through the Egypt border tunnels etc, so that area is getting a lot of IVF attention now.
I do know quite a few Hamas leaders have been taken out in Gaza, i expect the one's in charge of each battalion, it seems pretty much every few weeks some type of hamas leader will get taken out there is some photo they always show with a whole heap of leaders sitting around a table and each one has been getting ticked off and there is not many left without crosses, ive also seen diagrams like a family tree and a lot at the top of this tree are now killed. (it might be more military leaders?)
I will see if i can find these to share, i recall seeing them again only a few days ago.
Im not sure if there is leaders between these taken out and Sinar, (i didn't think so) it's an area i havent taken a heap of interest in but will now take more notice and see what the last update was.
Taking out leaders is only one part of the puzzle though and leaders can be replaced in time, tunnels, command centres, rocket launching sites, rocket stock piles, rocket building sites are just as important these have taken 18 years to build up and cant be replaced too quickly and cost money to do so.
BTW/ Surely you arent suggesting Israel want to resettle Gaza?
Some far right groups yes, but government and others, no, its not a realistic option, and the area doesn't have the same historical/cultural significance as the West Bank.

That was a good clip from cnn. More in the ME have to speak out. Change needs to come from inside the ME rather than from the outside outside. Jordan and Eqypt etc etc also need to say similar.
“but ya gotta worry when the murderous buzzsaw saudis are the most rational man in the room”
Hell yes, the irony is something else.

@Indo, probably agree with a lot of that, but if they can't kill the leadership, they can't destroy Hamas. Yes cut off the snake's head and it usually grows two or more back, sometimes with bigger fangs, like the US found out with Al Qaeda/ISIS/Afghanistan and the Israelis with the Palestinian Authority in Gaza. Just wanted to note the CIA know where these guys are, passed it on, and it appears they are still alive and kicking. New less senior leadership and soldiers aren't really a problem, even weapons, I reckon for Hamas. What's happened in Gaza would probably farm up an endless supply, not just in Gaza either.
As for "BTW/ Surely you arent suggesting Israel want to resettle Gaza? "
Not all of Israel, but the gangster Zionists do definitely. Seen plenty of statements and evidence of that and do believe it is exactly what motivates the Likud and particularly their far right lunatic majority partners in the Knesset. Just my opinion and am often wrong. Whether it eventuates, considering the position the US (finally) and Saudis have taken time will tell.
Still believe the only peace for Israel is two states. So does Biden's admin., part of the widening rift.
@san Guine, fark, another in my SN mates club who's name escaped me this week. You were in there too buddy. Sorry. Once had a razor sharp memory, overindulgence on the hooter seems to have dulled it big time. A lesson for the kids, fortunately (or maybe not) I never had any.

Nah kinda missed it all Soggy. Have been getting waves but have been hearing further East has been pumping. Went and looked at main town beach today and there were waves where there normally aren't. We only passed 100 days, the Ukraine war is up to almost 700 days, the average war last a few years
The questions you should be asking is why did Hamas start a war they can never win that will only bring death and destruction and set the country back decade's?
Why not actually build a country instead of destroy one?
Or why dont Hamas surrender and hand over the hostages?
Or why does Hamas use their population as human shields?
Or why dont the people in Gaza help end this war and provide tip offs to where those kid napped are or leaders are?
(Yes that would come with personal risk, but there is ways to provide anonymous tip offs)
Lets remember Israel never wanted this war and still have about 100 hundred Israelis held captive, Hamas could end it tomorrow if they surrender and handed over the hostages.
