so who would be a good source to turn to on this particular case?
not looking for a fight, or to catch you out... genuinely interested...
because a good 90 % of media got this case totally wrong, painted a totally misleading picture, where even people in the media have said they had a totally warped perspective and expectations...
that is the real danger!
not tucker carlson ranting and raving within his echo chamber...
"Indicates he will take legal action for defamation against some too, can't wait, media are farked."
he'd be a fool not to...
he can take on some pretty big player media outlets
get millions and millions of dollars... and some big arse lawyers...
then sue biden for defamation too!

A recent interview with Snoop Dogg he talked about when the hip hop community in the U.S realised the east coast/west coast beef that went on for years and resulted in several tragic deaths was entirely started and encouraged by the media. He goes on to talk about the positives of unity and collaboration at the realisation of the fact by both sides of the manipulated division.

The lesson has been learned and the same approach towards generating profit and power has now been applied to the racial, gender and political divides.

If you are talking about the fact that 3 vigilantes have been convicted for murder, I agree whole heartedly, good to see justice served.
However, if you are talking about someone taking the thoughtful and generous words of a grieving father and using them for another agenda then nah.
The agenda of trying to prevent the cynical incitement of racial division within society in order to profiteer and amass power and control?
Sounds terrible.

Anna cautions folk not to judge her creepy boyfriend before all the facts are known.
"It's essential that we do not rush to judgement, and instead treat these proceedings and all those involved with dignity & respect."
"That includes Mr Brookes, who is entitled to a vigorous defense and careful protection of his Constitutional Rights, No matter how serious and emotional the charges, until the Govt prove it's allegations beyond reasonable doubt, our client is presumed innocent."
Imagine if Brooks was fleeing Knife incident & racing to hospital...(Directly at the end of Parade Route!)
Perhaps argue his Knife wound disabled & disorientated his driving actions.
Thinking that Cops had removed the first Parade barricade just one minute earlier...he pushed on in pain.
Note - Brooks does a double twist ankle chain hop before sitting down...(Knife wound in leg?)
Also thinking that maybe he borrowed phone to call Cops & not Uber? As he did wave them down!
Is Anna comforting him because he's wounded or because she's #1 BLM Rap fan!
Gotta wonder why MathBoi Fly keeps walking free...Is this yet another one of those?
Reckon we're gonna read that WR $5m bail is a violation on Human Rights > Declared a BLM mistrial!
Real or fake...

So you’ve been detained for two weeks against your will and threatened with $5K fines if you leave your 2*1m verandah have you bloke? Or are you just poking fun at the emotion reactions of others who’ve been locked up despite being completely healthy? I’d lose my shit if I was locked up against my will for any amount of time .
This is a long and frightening read...

Try this Wyre
How, and why, the Republican’s sank to their current depths.
“Donald Trump is the near-opposite of the Burkean conservatism I’ve described hereHow did a movement built on sympathy and wisdom lead to a man who possesses neither? How did a movement that put such importance on the moral formation of the individual end up elevating an unashamed moral degenerate? How did a movement built on an image of society as a complex organism give rise to the simplistic dichotomies of manipulative populism? How did a movement based on respect for the wisdom of the past end up with Trump’s authoritarian campaign boast “I alone can fix it,” perhaps the least conservative sentence it is possible to utter?”

Lolol
The Atlantic: “ Trump destroys democracy by claiming election is rigged!”
Also the Atlantic:”Atlantic saves democracy by claiming Trump rigging election.”
It’s funny, when I was younger I assumed that the integrity of some media was beyond reproach. Papers such as The Atlantic and the Washington Post seemed so venerable and steeped in history that their word was irrefutable.
Now I recognise that it’s just more unapologetically biased rubbish. Worse, it’s not much more than confected outrage porn for the die hard pearl clutchers out there.
Whatever. As Cyndi Lauper sang about wanking “ ain’t no law against it yet” .
So if the above two posters want to indulge in a bit of political fantasy wanking then who am I to try and stop them?
Jerk on Blokes. The next few years should provide a heady run of material for all those with a penchant for anti-Trump hate wanking.
BTW- Can you believe this song was banned in some radio stations in the US because of its heavily camouflaged allusions to masturbation? That’s some fucked up twisted thinking from only a few decades ago. Now every second song is about pimping hoes at the club to make fat stacks of cash. Progress! I guess?

Lost me at "coup".
Totes hyperbole.
"So if the above two posters want to indulge in a bit of political fantasy wanking then who am I to try and stop them?
Nobody mate. Just the same fuckin' dickhead you have always been . Nothing to contribute except childish sarcasm and abuse. You're like onerof Pavlov's dogs. We say "Trump" or "covid" and out you come barking like crazy.
And someone, somewhere says “Trump bad” and you immediately go reaching for the Vaseline and some tissues.
I’m all for it. Sounds like you’ve got a bit of tension buildup. Go treat yourself to a bit of Blind on Blind action.
Sexual insults based on homophobia? Par for the course.
You think encouraging medicinal masturbation is homophobia now?
Goes without saying that hysterical overreach, miscomprehension and twisting a statement beyond recognition in order to assume some false moral authority is also par for the course bloke.
You got your he-period today?
You seem particularly over sensitive.
Back to misogyny now! Ha ha I would have put money on it. Keep it coming mate! No waves today so a laugh is good.
I don’t think you even understand what misogyny or homophobia actually mean.
Don’t suppose that matters when it makes you feel so virtuous to fling it around despite it diminishing the importance of genuine issues.
Whatever.
You’re not having a good run are you bloke?
Never been better mate.
Your personal high point is publicly revealing you don’t understand the basic meaning of terms you’ve been levelling at others for years?
Good for you.
Maybe cause for a celebration! Why don’t you pull out a few of your old “Trump smoking gun” WaPo issues from the Russiagate years, lock the doors and treat your body like an amusement park? You’ve earned it bloke.
Constance B Gibson wrote:Bloke-in, and your personal hi/lo points* regarding this thread in particular are...

"I don’t really follow much of what goes on in America, Stu . I aren’t familiar with who anyone is in their political arena so it doesn’t interest me. I think I’ve heard Trump speak about three times."
"A substantial part of why I rally for Trump is because of the MSM and the fake left retards telling people who they can and can’t vote for and what they can and can’t think ."
Huzzah!
*actually, not even hi and/or lo points. Just run-of-the-mill, bog standard, pig-ignorant Bloke-in-isms from our resident 'quiet ugly Australian'
And here’s me thinking that you’d wasted years of your life pursuing a useless degree which taught you nothing and still left you earning as much as a Coles trolley boy who misses half his shifts.
But look…..you garnered the skillz to trawl back through a million of my old posts so you could write a post that absolutely no one is interested in.
Actually, to be fair it’s just ANOTHER post that absolutely no one is interested in, so I shouldn’t rubbish your four years striving for your degree in “Trying to sound clever despite your personality being as inviting as a discarded dirty nappy left on a picnic table”.
You go bloke!
If you , Blowin , had been the victim of misogyny or homophobia you may think they were genuine issues.
"For many years—most of my politically cognizant life, in fact—I felt secure in my politics. Truth and justice, I believed, leaned leftward. If you were some version of a decent human being, you cared about those less fortunate than you, which meant that you supported a whole host of measures designed to even the playing field a little. Sometimes, these measures had unintended consequences (see under: Stalin, Josef), but that wasn’t reason enough to despair of the long march to equality. Besides, there was hardly an alternative: On the other end of the political transom lurked despicable creeps, right-wing orcs who either cared for nothing but their own petty financial interests or, worse, pined for benighted isms that preached prejudice and hate. We were on the right side of history. We were the people. We were the ones giving peace a chance. And, no matter the present, we were always the future.
This belief carried me through high school, and a brief stint in a socialist youth movement. It accelerated me in college, sending me anywhere from joint marches with Palestinians to a two-week hunger strike in Jerusalem trying (and failing) to lower tuition for underprivileged students. It pulled me to New York, to Columbia University, to more left-wing politics and activism and raging against Republicans whose agenda, especially in the 2000s, seemed like nothing more than greed and war.
And it wasn’t just an ideology, some abstract set of convictions that were accessible only through cracking open dusty old books. It was the animating spirit of life itself: The dinner parties I attended on the Upper West Side required dismissive comments on President Bush just as much as they did a bit of wine to make the evening bright, and there was no faster or surer way to signal to a new acquaintance that you were a kindred spirit than praising the latest Times editorial. It wasn’t performative, exactly. At least, it felt real enough, the reverent rites of a good group of people protecting itself against the bad guys.
I embraced my people, and my people embraced me. They gave me everything I had always imagined I wanted: a Ph.D. from an Ivy League university; a professorship at NYU, complete with a roomy office overlooking Washington Square Park; book deals; columns in smart little publications; invitations to the sort of soirees where you could find yourself seated next to Salman Rushdie or Susan Sontag or any number of the men and women you grew up reading and admiring. The list goes on. Life was good. I was grateful.
And then came The Turn. If you’ve lived through it yourself, you know that The Turn doesn’t happen overnight, that it isn’t easily distilled into one dramatic breakdown moment, that it happens hazily and over time—first a twitch, then a few more, stretching into a gnawing discomfort and then, eventually, a sense of panic.
You may be among the increasing numbers of people going through The Turn right now. Having lived through the turmoil of the last half decade—through the years of MAGA and antifa and rampant identity politics and, most dramatically, the global turmoil caused by COVID-19—more and more of us feel absolutely and irreparably politically homeless. Instinctively, we looked to the Democratic Party, the only home we and our parents and their parents before them had ever known or seriously considered. But what we saw there—and in the newspapers we used to read, and in the schools whose admission letters once made us so proud—was terrifying. However we tried to explain what was happening on “the left,” it was hard to convince ourselves that it was right, or that it was something we still truly believed in. That is what The Turn is about.
You might be living through The Turn if you ever found yourself feeling like free speech should stay free even if it offended some group or individual but now can’t admit it at dinner with friends because you are afraid of being thought a bigot. You are living through The Turn if you have questions about public health policies—including the effects of lockdowns and school closures on the poor and most vulnerable in our society—but can’t ask them out loud because you know you’ll be labeled an anti-vaxxer. You are living through The Turn if you think that burning down towns and looting stores isn’t the best way to promote social justice, but feel you can’t say so because you know you’ll be called a white supremacist. You are living through The Turn if you seethed watching a terrorist organization attack the world’s only Jewish state, but seethed silently because your colleagues were all on Twitter and Facebook sharing celebrity memes about ending Israeli apartheid while having little interest in American kids dying on the streets because of failed policies. If you’ve felt yourself unable to speak your mind, if you have a queasy feeling that your friends might disown you if you shared your most intimately held concerns, if you are feeling a bit breathless and a bit hopeless and entirely unsure what on earth is going on, I am sorry to inform you that The Turn is upon you..."

Hey look! A giant new rabbit hole we can all jump into ha ha ha
“Australia is descending into dictatorship and concerned Americans know this must be stopped because if Australia falls, so will the United States. That, at least, is the narrative a group of American conspiracy theorists is spreading.
It might seem outlandish to most of us. But as with Russian fake news, which has roiled the past two US elections, we too often get caught up mocking the stories we read on social media when we should be asking ourselves who gains from seeding such mischief.”
https://www.smh.com.au/national/only-one-way-to-stop-the-conspiracy-theo...
"...Wild conspiracies almost always start with a grain of truth and, in Australia, there are many grains for the conspiracy molluscs to make pearls of. There have been some questionable uses of emergency powers during the pandemic. Our borders have been shut even to returning residents. Australians seeking to leave the country have had to apply for permits, like mistrusted Soviet subjects begrudgingly granted a pass through the iron curtain.
In an even stronger echo of Soviet practices, those permits have been granted arbitrarily and with favour. I know of instances where permits were denied, only for the decision to be overturned when a well-connected friend or relative took up the matter at a political level.
Over the last two years, Australians have also discovered that there are no legal limits on health powers if the chief health officer has declared a pandemic. Domestic and international border closures were tested in court and upheld. The dubious science behind some health restrictions, such as curfews, was challenged unsuccessfully. It turned out that there was no legal basis for putting an end to a potentially endlessly renewed state of emergency.
And where Australia does have a law relevant to the extraordinary circumstances of the times – namely that “all competent adults can consent to and refuse medical treatment”, specific vaccination mandates have left some people who are hesitant towards or opposed to the vaccine feeling like consent is at best manufactured.
So there is plenty wrong in Australia right now, and we have learnt that our institutions need thorough renovation ahead of the next global health scare..."
it seems a bit of accepting and fixing - instead of the usual outright denial and deflecting - might go a long way in the current febrile environment...
but nah, much easier to stoke the tribalism and keep the blame game going...
