Dunno about you but it would've been great for NSW to keep covid in their state during the June to September period or whatever it was. Really didn't need a lockdown all last winter?"

missing your lockdown winter 2022 already?

all butt hurt you don't get to dictate night time curfews and how and when people can work and live? ... all while you draw a full salary from the public purse for tinkering at home on your laptop...

2 years of lockdown is just never enough is it?

This thread shouldn't be shut because a few get triggered. Funnily enough many calling for it's closure are contributors to the tone it carries.

BD should as he suggests remove himself or be removed for his own benefit. Becoming more unhinged at more posters daily. It is pathetic and kind of sad.

As a triple waxxed individual I fully agree. NSW last winter was a kick in the ass we needed for the population to get vaccinated and move to the next phase. Heaps of people were fence-sitting on the vaccination, waiting it out because the perception of risk was so skewed and unrealistic.

I agree, people should not go around while sick, the question is do you make it illegal? Leaving your home with the flu is not illegal but it is not recommended. Covid is the opposit. Snippet from the article below:

'Removing the COVID-19 self-isolation legal requirements and replacing them with voluntary guidance would bring the disease in line with how England treats most other infections.'

The end goal here is for it not to be illegal.

For testing to stop.

For vaccinations to not be mandated.

It will happen in good time.

Hopefully, people make the voluntary decision to stay home...some won't but most will. Would be pretty tough to make it illegal as to prove it, would be hard and a waste of resources.
Community and workplace pressure may play a big factor in making people choose to self isolate until non infectious.

Far out ID, you have some pretty sane takes on things but then you just roll out stuff which shows how manipulated by the Murdoch crew you really are.

VicLab always made it clear when vaccinations hit their targets we'd open up, and they did.

Labour, and Dan Andrews have actually performed well by managing expectations and not over promising. The idiot anti Labour press pounced on this and screamed 'Tyrant! He wants control forever!'. Complete BS. In a scenario such as this, where one can't accurately predict the future, having a more conservative outlook is realistic. Saying 'We need to stay locked down until we have this under control' is better than, 'Don't worry guys, I'm sure we'll be ok in a week, let's aim to open up then.'

One thing that did occur is it did give us the kick up the arse needed, as Flollo said. But that had nothing to do with Dan, and everything to do with NSW letting covid leak into our state.

Well, it was possible. We had it late 2020, early 2021, and mid 2021. The rest of Aus had it.

As for your other comment:

"In your opinion stok would it then of gotten so out of hand if so many nurses/ doctors didn’t quit/ be told they weren’t allowed on site?"

I really don't know the answer to this, but I have the following thoughts:
1. I don't really believe that many nurses/doctors quit. I'm sure some did, but nurses/doctors are smart, and work alongside very smart people. In the medical industry. I'd highly doubt as a collective they'd be sceptical of scientific/medical research.

2. The ones that are sceptical, well, they probably should find another industry anyway. Could you image a pilot who differing beliefs to the field of aerodynamics? Would you trust them with your life?

3. I'd say the biggest problem was isolation/staff being sick due to covid. This is a direct knock on effect of covid becoming out of control. Keeping any infectious disease out of hospitals is a fucking hug priority. So it's not ideal, but absolutely needed.

Anyway.....

One thing I've found amusing with the whole polarisation/debate side of things, is how the right and far right are treating this as a 'fight against tyranny'. This is certainly different to the modus operandi. People are saying stuff which just isn't true - dictators, authoritarianism, losing all your freedoms etc. etc.

On the left however, sure there's the usual politicking and mud slinging here and there, but there's no 'OMG the sky will fall down unless we get a left wing leader in!'. Noted the left are being quite reactive to the right and far right's attempt to destabilising things, but they're not leading the charge here, they're being reactive.

Generally, particularly in Aus, the differences between the right and left major parties on covid are not hugely different.

Het stok, the most interesting thing is, as covid restriction ease the alt-right get more and more unhinged. Canada, Canberra, Wellington. Surely they should be out celebrating, and claiming "victory" rather than trying to overthrow tyrannical govts.
