Turnbull rolls over "again" to the ultra right
I don't care what his intentions were, he's a bigger man than me.....and you , Sheepy.
Again , the man should be kicked in the nuts, hourly ,for the next twenty years if what you say is true about his past .....but you've got to appreciate him standing up for US on this issue . Where others fear to tread.
He's not a bigger man than me..... You can speak for yourself, blowin..... Drawing a picture to gain "hits" on your website doesn't make you a man..... Ripping off innocent people doesn't make you a "man".... Charly's French cartoons were done in style, poignant, with meaning... Pickerings stuff was just crass crap.... A pure stunt from a gutter rat.....
And he isn't standing up for "me"........ He's a fuckwit..... A former Liberal party stooge..... A con artist... And you're his latest victim ;)
I'm not a victim Sheepy. Pickering and myself are co investors. Sure, I've borrowed four hundred grand to put towards the project and he's yet to stump up any cash.....but he reckons he's good for it.
So you reckon that the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists were targeted because their drawings were done with style and class ?
You can continue to dance and conflate the two issues if you like Sheepy, but the fact is, the man has drawn a line in the sand and you haven't.
Actually Sheepy, best we confer with the Swellnet team and ask if they are even comfortable with this line of discussion on their otherwise innocuous website.
Hey Blowin 400 gs for which project,?forgive my ignorance......
Simba, sorry mate. I'm being facetious. There's no project. I was pretending that I'd invested in one of this fellas scam investments. Sheepdog was saying that this Pickering fella had taken some investors for a ride and that I was another of his victims for granting him any credibility by saying that his stance against Islamic extremists was laudable. Two different issues that Sheepy would like to align to confuse the issue.
simba wrote:Hey Blowin 400 gs for which project,?forgive my ignorance......
Same Simba , had me going lol;)
How was the defence minister for Australia that was knighted today, in an interview with media he said "Abbott rang me awhile back saying to me I will be knighted this year and I was BLOWIN away"
I found that statement quite funny coming from the defence minister.
Not a very professional statement..? Or is it...?
Welly,the defence minister Blowin away.....hahaha
Hilarious. Blowin.. So if a child molester draws a cartoon of Muhammad, then promotes it on his website, all is forgiven... "He's a bigger man than you and me"...... Nah, mate.... You see, Charlie Hebdo has been fighting the good fight re' freedom of the press for years.... respect....... All Pickering did was jump on the bandwagon to promote his web page, and to cash in.....
"Sheepdog was saying that this Pickering fella had taken some investors for a ride ".............. Not me "saying it" mate........... It was the supreme court's findings.... I'm just relaying what they said...
http://www.austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/sinodisp/au/cases/qld/QCA/2006/53.html...
Now, if he was to pass on the proceeds of his site to his victims, people like you and me, I might consider that a "manly" act....
"Conflate" - Mate, I was purely talking about Pickerings right wing mud throwing at 3.04pm yesterday... I didn't bring in the "muslim" angle... Udo brought it in and you ran with it which muddied the waters on the original discussion, which was ; "what a festering hypocritical turd Pickering is"......
As far as "freedom" goes, yeah draw what you want.... Knock your self out.....But you gotta remember that some people may take offence..... They are free to take offence.... If I was lucky enough to be able to draw well or have some form of artistic talent, I don't think I'd go down the angle of insulting peoples beliefs.... I wouldn't draw Muhammad... But I also wouldn't immerse Jesus in urine, which was done in the late 80s and caused quite a stir... Still causing a stir today..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piss_Christ
I think dialogue and debate is the go..... But if people want to shit stir, good luck.... I back their right.... But one cartoon aint gonna sway me on a thieving cunt....
Hope you get your money back......... ;p
I try not to let the present government annoy me because australians voted for a conservative government so you have to expect conservative policy.
However when abbott introduced the knighthood thing I thought what the fuck is that about? And how far back can this idiot take us??
I tried to accept and ignore, then we get prince phillip knighted, what the fuck? He is not Australian and he's already part of the scurge that is the royal family. Surely there is someone more deserving, someone who's charity work is not a hobby to fill time in a privileged life.
Clearly I'm no monarchist, but I also am not a republicanist either, I think the whole republican thing is purely symbolic, and the last thing we need is another 10 billion dollar bill for another unnecessary symbolic luxury where the difference will equate to changing the printing on government letterheads. But for Australia to award a knighthood to punce phillip defies logic, its just a pathetic bum lucking act that undervalues the good work other people are doing.
Talk about preserving the old boys club.
Floyd, On Friday you wrote "we will have Abbott until the next election."...... You sticking to that?
Jones v Newman, Murdoch v Credlin, and now the Bolt v Nut
http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2015/jan/29/tony-abbotts-knigh...
Murdoch v credlin was a poor attempt at a spotlight shift.... You, know Abbott stands up a defends a woman.... Murdoch plays "bad cop".... Abbott shows strength..... blah blah blah.... ;)
Didn't work.....
Turnball's got a vision.
Pretty funny Murdoch is givig public instructions and reprimands to Abbott now.
His time is done. Party will freak out last minute giving Labor no time to find a viable leader
Labor has to move or we are fucked
bolt v nut, nice
yeah, not bad, Floyd.. But I think "first dog on the moon" nailed it....
Grong Grong?? I thought that was on a different thread?!
http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/coalition-mps-jump...
grong grong is a coming...
If it turns out that Credlin advised on the knighthood then yep, she will go - fall on the proverbial sword. The matter really, Libs can easily move Turnbull in and Labor is up the proverbial.
This will all be forgotten in a few weeks . It's not as if it's cost the country billions or lured people to their drowning deaths by the thousands . Or put the country in 350 billion debt with an interest bill of 1.5 billion a month.
Eventually the real issue of fixing the economic disaster left by the Liars party will be front and centre.
Are people going to trust Bill and his cronies to fix the mess they created ?
I don't think so .
Heh, it seems you all missed it. Abbott gave Philly the knighthood to start the Republic debate. And didn't it work. Little Shorty picked it up - he is smart you know. Turnbull is ready in the wings for the Libs. Lets just see if we can get the economic policies thru and see what happens. We better start thinking about the flag, now.
Grocer was watching Bolt on the project..... lol... Almost word for word....
But the most hilarious thing is....... HOLD THE PHONE!!!!!!! Sit down or you'll fall down I swear to god!!!!!!!
The most hilarious thing EVER!!!!!! IS!!!!!!!
Grocer and Floyd AGREE on something :O :O) :P
The both agree that Abbott will weather the storm!!!!!! That he'll be there for the next election!!!!!
I need a bex and a lay down...................................
I dunno, Floyd...... I hope Newman gets humbled.... Got love Siegried lol
While your on politics.........Jason Deller......phew tough man....caught on camera assaulting his young children !
" he said. "And one of the reasons why so many members of the team are able to perform so well is because they've got a very good captain.
haha hahahahaha hahahahahahhahahaha
Is this guy autistic or a comedian?
Sorry to use the autistic tag, many autistic people are wonderful people, but many have no idea about social norms and how they fit into the big picture, I think Tony is the latter
That Deller guy was hardcore, I usually scoff at the anti smack mobs outrage, but that was brutal
"Is this guy autistic or a comedian?

SK, just take note of the cartoon above... It explains everything lol
"And one of the reasons why so many members of the team are able to perform so well is because they've got a very good captain."
another day, another nickname...Tickets Tony, captain, my captain...
Twas on the good ship Venus
By krist you shoulda seen us
We know Tones is about as useful as a boundary rider with a sore arse ! More important the federal / state political relationship is a total mess, it needs urgent attention. I'm a lifelong Labor member & very fucking proud, but we need something better, something which provides better safeguards for all citizens particularly those who are vulnerable & not $ wealthy.
One of the most wealthy & stable democracy's in the western world has a very pure democracy - Switzerland. It is the world's only true democracy because no legislation can be enacted by its parliaments without voters having the opportunity to call a referendum to decide whether it becomes law......It's called TRUE democracy, can you spot the difference. I'm not talking simply house / land ownership issues. A political systems that gives all citizens protection ! A system whereby Govt work in unison & in the interest of its people. Abbott is a sideshow / distraction, what we need in Aust is a better democracy & like minded people who can make that happen.
Johno
Agree on the lobbyist issue. Picked up Robert Reich, Super capitalism from the library yesterday, heavy reading Floyd !
ALP branch meetings are pretty small attendance typically 15-30 people in metro Adelaide & that's weather dependant. I live 800km west of Adel so nigh on impossible to attend but assume most other regions are similar in number. A far cry from those halcyon days of the 1970's when the ALP boasted 700,000 membership ! Political parties are coy about membership numbers but they are very small in comparison. Yep change has to start from a grass roots level & talking with like minded people is a good start. Cheers Johno
@Johno…it may be interesting to note your point 'no legislation can be enacted by its parliaments without voters having the opportunity to call a referendum to decide whether it becomes law'. You know that nothing would get passed here in Aus. It seems to take 75% majority to get a referendum thru in the Aus democracy. 'Like minded people' - I assume you mean that people need to this the same ??
@tonybarber
Yep & all states need to agree to any modification of the constitution. Not easy when you consider on 2 occasion there were plebiscite at 1972 & 1987 federal elections to include the benign contribution of 'local govt' into our constitution & both times defeated by paranoid state premiers. So yep not easy BUT the party system is too self serving, I believe we need a better democracy.
Not sure what your last question is implying
'Like minded people' - I assume you mean that people need to this the same ??
Johno
"I have been trying to see my local state Labor member for 2 months now about a local electorate issue and I keep on getting fobbed off."
I wouldn't hold back, mate.... I'd warn them if you don't see me soon, I'll start writing to the local and state press, phoning local community radio about how it's now been two months.....
Campbell Newman concedes defeat of his own seat (Ashgrove).....Uhm !
Looking like a LNP trainwreck
Got tomorrow off, so sitting up late, Floyd.... Boxing, elections, tennis, soccer..... Not a bad night channel surfing lol.....
Nothing better than watching conservatives turn on eachother.... Should be an interesting week or two, Floyd.....
Boxing - go Sonny Bill " God Willing"
the saddest thing about politics right now is that voters are not voting for a party or candidate ...they are voting against .....reactive politics Vs Pro-active....we know what we don't like and vote accordingly.
To be a politician you have to be a good liar.....which means not getting caught....which ,in these days of social media and all media access to every part of a pollies life.........Democracy..Huh!
On last nites Sky coverage ,Brandis kept saying that the Qld result was nothing to do with the Federal Govt , as all candidates etc did not talk about federal/Abbott issues....they did not have to.....all you do is have to looks at any media outlet and the headlines tell a sorry story of the present Govt's failures and Abbotts bumbling.......
support has crumbled for Abbott and there will be a leadership challenge ........but personally I think our surfing PM is doing a wonderful job...and hope he goes to the next election as a ....????
Democracy is working well in Queensland. So whats all this talk about lobby groups. Abbott needs to start to listen. He has had his nightmare now he needs to listen a bit.
I agree with you brutus...IMO i f you look at inflation..petrol prices..interest rates that kind of stuff the lnp is actually doin a pretty good job..throw immigration in there too.politics is not so much about policy more about character assasination.abbsy was good at being the attack dog but he's attack dogging himself!! I don't think he will last. I also think majority voting is run by the current generation at the time.when johnny was ruling it was a pretty conservative generation..now it seems to be a generayion of we want everything and we want it now...progressive i guess..but fuck i couldnt give a fuck anymore its done my head in.i dunno how @floyd @sheepie can keep this thread goin for such a long time..spunout
This rock dweller has some thing to say.
Brutus summed it up well, modern politics is about who is the least shit, and that is a problem, we need someone inspiring, bit unfortunatly politicians are too concerned with the 24 hour news social media stuff which means they have to lie constantly rather than a lie here and there as it was in the past.
Queenslanders voted for who is least shit, between some tough times selling all their asserts, or some tough times keeping some assets, plus they punished Abbott, but brandis wonr concede a bit because its all about appearances.
I'm enjoying watching the abbott train wreck as much as anyone, but we cannot afford to watch another 18 months of this stuff. One party has to get their shit together, and labor can't count on liberals being more shit. They need an agenda.
Conservatives have an agenda, same as always, to conserve power. Modem left don't have a clear agenda or a good leader.
Whether its soon or in 18 months, looks like abbotts gone. Unless turnball gets a gig its gonna be another contest of whose less shit. Let's hope labor's got someone less shit than shorten.
I agree with some of that sypo'..... Remember the original willy wonka? A kid called "Mike Teavee"? That's what we have had in modern politics since Rudd...... Every fucking day, these gooseberry's are addicted to being on the flat screen.... Narcissism on a grand scale.... Both labor and the Libs could take a leap out of Will Hodgman's book...... You may ask, "who the fuck is he?"........ EXACTLY!!!!! He's the current premier of Tasmania.... He has gone against this modern grain of having to get on morning tv and announcing what he had for breakfast..... We don't need a running commentary every bloody day like we've had with Rudd, Gillard, Rudd, Abbott, Newman, Hockey, Abetz, Palmer, Lambie, Shorten, Napthine..... Just get in your office, and do some fucking work for a change........
Brutus wrote: To be a politician you have to be a good liar.....which means not getting caught....which ,in these days of social media and all media access to every part of a pollies life.........Democracy..Huh!
I look at it different, the current crop of federal LMP politicians seem to make the assumption the general population shares there passion for LNP ideology and that we the general public are politically & economically savvy enough to understand what is $%^ is going on. Think CEO mentality which in the world of politicking is death....bye Campbell Newman.
The reality is most of us are as thick as 2 short planks politically and it's a rare bird that makes any effort to understand economics or politics in a worthwhile way. As a nation we seem insecure and rattled easily and find change threatening. Lets face it, we've got a Union Jack in the corner of our national flag. Also the media could be more constructive here, have interviews with learned people like Prof Dean Jaensch (political scientist ) who is a teacher. Our pollies need to become teachers ! Also a bit of Keatingesque passion is needed, pollies of that ilk will always revel because they are natural teachers / salesmen. IMO it's a cop out to partway blame social media for current LNP woes (electronic graffiti is rubbish) This is the 21st century I expect our pollies to be tech & communication savvy.
Johno
No-one got anything to say about the loss of the car industry under a government and high viz Tony that promised to create 1,000,000 jobs?
Slumber away ........
