I'd seen those numbers and I was pleasantly surprised how non-lethal delta has been to <50yo despite all the reports to the contrary. In fact, not a great proportion had been hospitalised, which bodes well for when Aus and NZ embark on a non-elimination policy.
And to your first point, 48 out of 147612 <50 unvaccinated died. 13 out of 25536 for the 2 x vaxx. That's a pretty big unvaxxed control group to compary to, (almost 6 x the vaccinated). And that too surprised me.

I took my mother ( 85 )for her second AZ shot yesterday , the doctor said she will probably be getting a third booster around Easter next year.

5) We are at war with Covid....not as individuals , but as a Nation . The collective good for the Nation outweighs the rights of individuals who do not follow the laws and protocols that are prescribed by the States and the feds....

We don't know long-term effects, true. But we don't either know long-term effects of not going to school, seeing friends and family, being a young person. In Sweden, that continued as normal.

I tried to check how many people have died in Vic this year . I am a tech Dino and could not find the number . 820 have died due to Covid . There was around 650 ? when our Dangerous Dan stuffed up by not using the military to oversea detention centres . Sorry should not have said that as in enquiry showed that no one could remember who made that decision . If it was a company CEO they would be in jail .

The calling an election when about to hit 70% vaccination also sounds like a good plan.
The next economy figures wont look good, but i think people understand now those figures will bounce back pretty quickly after lockdowns.

I see SO many people lobbing their hand grenades at each other. For a good 18 months. I've done it. Just humans cherry picking #facts to prop up their beliefs. I have tried, in the last 3 weeks, to speak on this more on a human, heart to heart level. With mixed results. I'm learning. Trying to understand others. Not what they are saying, but where they are coming from, Most of the folks i am trying to connect with these days are in hazardous straits. So they are more honest with me and themselves. We still don’t have any community transmissions of covid , there has only ever been 3 cases and they were returning Australian’s who flew into Sydney quarantine. My neighbour a Qantas steward was one of them . So my question is if it’s true what you say about the vaccinated spreading covid, why hasn’t tweed got cases ? The vaccine teaches the body to recognise part of the virus - not all 25 proteins.
In the end the virus itself will probably be our ongoing "booster" shots.

israel: more dense population, virus on the doorstep - probably already endemic.... and lots of crew newly vaccinated, ....masks off, guard down, and ready to party - after a long cold winter of isolation... I do believe there was a pride parade in there somewhere (sorry ip fawners), and no doubt a heap of other 'partying' of various forms... 'like it's 1999', ...again....
plus the being more susceptible for a couple of weeks just after having the shots thingy - which is normal immune system stuff...

...it's designed to spread the virus, the vaccine is the virus!, coronavirus has never been isolated, it's a population control bomb, anyone who's vaxxed will be dead in 2 years, etc. etc. ....

@sypkan , yeah tweed was not a good example , but if we look at Brisbane , the virus isn’t spreading everywhere with vaccination and they have some cases . Maybe TBB can explain it better .

whilst australian media likes to paint a picture of a country inundated in virus, I would say that even in sydney, australia is not yet dealing with virus outbreak even remotely close to what europe, israel, indo, etc. have had to deal with
we are still in the containment stage. other places never really had / have this luxury

I was a little shocked at Alan Joyce (CEO Qantas) announcement that international travelers will be required to have a covid 19 vaccination in order to travel on Qantas flights . The government wanted to have mandatory vaccination but after the bumbling of its release ( it was painful to watch the delivery of that announcement ) they withdrew the mandatory part but it seems Qantas and other business may demand a vaccination in order to use their services. I’m not anti vaccine by any means I just don’t trust this government or a vaccine that has been rushed through. A jab followed by another jab followed by yearly jabs doesn’t sit well with me as I have never had a flu shot or the flu for more than 20 years. Plus I don’t want to give this shot to my healthy 4 year old daughter. She is up to date with all her vaccinations but this covid vaccine is new and not being around for decades like the others. Tuberculosis remains the number one as far diseases go and you don’t need proof of vaccination to travel so what is going on ?
