Vaccinate or not

I was a little shocked at Alan Joyce (CEO Qantas) announcement that international travelers will be required to have a covid 19 vaccination in order to travel on Qantas flights . The government wanted to have mandatory vaccination but after the bumbling of its release ( it was painful to watch the delivery of that announcement ) they withdrew the mandatory part but it seems Qantas and other business may demand a vaccination in order to use their services. I’m not anti vaccine by any means I just don’t trust this government or a vaccine that has been rushed through. A jab followed by another jab followed by yearly jabs doesn’t sit well with me as I have never had a flu shot or the flu for more than 20 years. Plus I don’t want to give this shot to my healthy 4 year old daughter. She is up to date with all her vaccinations but this covid vaccine is new and not being around for decades like the others. Tuberculosis remains the number one as far diseases go and you don’t need proof of vaccination to travel so what is going on ?

Looking at recent vaccination stats I was surprised to learn today that New Zealand vaccination rates are slightly behind Australia.

Current percentage of population fully vaccinated

BTW. Currently up to 41.8% that have had at least one dose, so good to see ball is now rolling.

Easily the most annoying forum on swellnet, ever.

Just get the jab. The science is so far beyond you, it’s like an amoeba discussing the philosophy of Kant, Hume etc.

Just get the jab. Don’t think, it’s an art form that can’t be developed after 40 years of not doing it.

I restrict myself to only coming here every fortnight at most. I can’t stand the can’t, the regurgitated Facebook bullet points, the mindless opposition. Guess what, you didn’t know what was in the polio vaccine, the German measles vaccine, the mumps, rubella and all the other vaccines. Reasonable chance you’re alive and walking around because your responsible parents authorised those vaccines for you.

Facebook anti-vaxxer bullet points. Honestly, if you’re backing up your arguments with them, consider yourself the uninformed.

I’ll be back in another fortnight.

By the way, I got my second AZ vaccine earlier in the week. My penis enlarged from 7” to 10”, and strangely I can now thread backhand barrels pigdog. I don’t know how that happened, but definitely a side effect of getting the AZ vaccine.

Nutters.

"We recently discussed the rise of a generation of censors as young people embrace the role of government and corporate censorship. The erosion of free speech rights is manifest in a chilling poll from the Pew Research Center that shows a huge jump in favor of censorship among citizens with almost half now supporting the government barring “misinformation.” The shift is almost entirely among Democrats who (like Democratic leaders) now overwhelming favor fewer free speech protections and more government control over speech." What is person called when they are pro ALL vaccines but are unsure of covid vaccines ?

I believe that the covid vaccines ARE effective at reducing the severity of the virus . I am concerned though that , as they do not kill the virus like other vaccines , they may give the virus the chance and the incentive to mutate in a living host .

This virus is way too smart for my liking ( man made probably ) and EVEN it does not know what it will do next .

Vaccinate or not? Eventually in Australia, probably some time in 2022, Covid will become the disease of the idiots. Won't that be sweet.
It's already starting to happen in the USA.

Vaccinated or not a huge amount of people are dying from the virus . Children ( who are not allowed to be vaccinated at the moment ) and today I saw on the news a baby has it in Australia .

Millions in poor countries are dying from the virus . They will not have the opportunity to be vaccinated by 2022 .

And you think that will be sweet ! If you are right and covid will become the disease of idiots you WILL be sure to die from it . You are a very nasty human being . You deserve everything you get in the future .

Hutchy, you dopey fucker. I said that Covid would be a disease of the idiots in Australia.
It's fucking tragic what covid is doing in poor countries, where people don't have access to vaccinations.
We are very lucky in Australia, and some time in 2022, everyone will have had the opportunity to get vaccinated. When we reach that point in Australia, covid will become the disease of the idiots who refuse to get vaccinated. eg people like Hanson.
It's happening in the USA now, where Covid is killing the anti vax morons. The big outbreaks are happening in red states and many clusters are based out of evangelical churches.
Trump held a rally the other day, and when he finally spoke some sense and encouraged the crowd to get vaccinated, they booed him. These are the type of morons at real risk of taking part in a bit of social darwinism.

Wow that's interesting.....the second article was written back in May so a bit out of date. Surely India will know what caused their massive drop off in cases. It was all over the news a few months back but now......nothing. I don't have any firm view either way on the Ivermectin thing but if that's what helped India then why the huge reluctance from the medical fraternity and governments to look at it? It seems a a lot of Australians are now getting ivermectin from overseas as its supply locally has dried up . It’s a shame our government didn’t back Monash earlier when they were handling out billions for vaccine research . Throwing all our eggs in one basket may have been a mistake. Not like our government to make a mistake though is it . For Monash to get funding to continue its research from outside sources says alot about our government and the continued interest in ivermectin. https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/health-problems/therapeutic-goo... https://www.monash.edu/discovery-institute/news-and-events/news/2021-art...

@cacadady , It’s ok to have an opinion either way, what I don’t understand about the various trials currently running is , none seem to follow the combined cocktail recommended by actual icu doctors treating covid patients, that have also written a formula for prevention. With these doctors track record of treating patients in the US ( they don’t save everyone ) you would think a trial using their formula would be conducted. It’s all a bit baffling .

My opinion is to listen to experts like the WHO and locally the TGA.

I am sure people have a myriad of reasons not to trust them but they are the bodies tasked with providing guidance in relation to these things.

In quieter times, on other matters I don't recall these bodies being discredited.

But as I said where the issue lands in the future will be interesting.

@cacadajy , the WHO and TGA also don’t agree on everything , remdesivir is just one example . Even though studies show it has little benefit the TGA has it listed as treatment in certain circumstances. Again it’s all a bit baffling.
