Significant north-east swell inbound
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 7th October)
Best Days: Northern corners tomorrow and Friday for the experienced, Saturday
Recap
A mix of leftover N/NE swell and building S'ly swell yesterday, easing this morning mixed in with some inconsistent E/NE but fun sized energy from a low above New Zealand.
This week and weekend (Oct 8 - 11)
The next two days are quite dynamic as a deepening and significant low drifts south-east across Victoria and then us.
As the low deepens and drifts south we'll see it squeeze a strong high in the Tasman Sea, resulting in strengthening, slow moving E/NE gales being aimed into us tomorrow, slipping south-east into the evening.
A large, stormy and rapidly building NE swell will be seen, likely reaching 8-10ft along with gale-force E/NE winds.
On dark the north end of the coast may see winds swing N/NW as the low slips south-east, but come Friday morning winds may be dicey and N-N/NW, ahead of a change proper into the afternoon out of the W/NW.
Size wise, the swell will be large and easing out of the E/NE with sets dropping from 8ft or so, down to 4-6ft into the afternoon, smaller again Saturday and down from 3-4ft.
Winds on Saturday will remain great and offshore out of the W/NW, holding all day.
Following this the outlook is slow with no significant swells on the cards, so make the most of the coming days waves!
Comments
That's pretty significant, also lots of rain for the NE.
What's also significant is local reports giving cryptic clues to lesser known spots. Basically telling the savvy punters what they already know and the not so savvy to ask questions and maybe get an answer. Maybe stick to photos and a brief rundown of conditions and leave spot suggestions for the individual mugs to work out.
Yep. Must be taking tips from the clown who does south arm.
