It's nice to be included, lol. I have noticed, though, that every now and again, the posters that make up this list will exchange pleasantries. Talk about sandwiches and such. Just being humans in this space for a bit. The ones who would make up The Opposite List never join. All are invited, they just don't partake. And, ya never see them doing it amongst themselves. I chalk it up to the lack of humanity that pervades their worldview, as it gets expressed in this space. But, you know, just an observation. By a Seppo, no less. Never mind me. Carry on.
yeh, odd isn't it @wax? they're no different to crazy extreme-left-wingers, scuttling about looking for a cause or an enemy to rankle at with incensed indignation.. they do compliment each other occasionally, but only in a tribal way, a 'I like his views', 'he adds balance' kinda way, but they rarely chat, despite encouragement. Maybe they don't feel safe in a marxist space.. once they cancel it, I'm sure it'll be better..
edit: it's a credit to you @wax, that you embrace the 'seppo', despite it historically referring to the top right, where you are bottom left.
That list reminds me of a guy at my local, around 50, foul mouthed, smokes, on the bong daily, drives a beaten up old holden commodore, lives in a housing commission house on the disability pension, but still surfs everyday and gives everyone tips on what they are doing wrong, and goes off at anyone that goes near his wave lol

sounds challenging @ashsam.
(I kinda envy you @wax, you have gotten such an insight into 'Australia - you're standing in it' through your engagement with swellnet over the years.. I'll dig up a clip of what @sheepdog was referring to when he started the thread)
@Base..... "bottom left" sounds like a kink, lmao. Thanx for the nice words.
@Ash.... i don't think i have ever seen a Holden Commodore here. My first car was a '65 Ford Falcon. Man! I loved that car.
Wow trashcan, such hilarity and creative vision you have provided in your input!
That fable of yours is like ummm totally lol ;)
- it's almost like a kewl flopti story
U know, a kewl fictional story u made up with facts and stuff ;)
It reminds me of this goon drinking wannabe surfer who is a no one and tries to hang about like a bad smell. Once I asked him for his opinion on mini soda. He's a little fella, thought he might like a mini soda ;)
He drinks a bit of organic goon
- this trashcan can't hold much tho, it's full of trash.
He does have a nice figure, despite the smell ;)
- sometimes he lingers and loiters
Often around woolies ;);)
- seems the full quid, minus a quid
He's trashcan the no one ;)

holden was our locally made GM @wax,
..go on an internet worm, if you feel inclined, on Phillip Island, where @indo is from.. 1962, your first car era.. it was the Armstrong 500 (sponsored by armstrong, along with britax, repco, and the PIARC) , before they broke the track and it moved to Bathurst.
Harry Firth and Bob Jane, prior champs, ditched their successful Mercedes for a Ford XL, and smashed it, last car race there ever..
https://autopics.com.au/62750-harry-firth-and-bob-jane-ford-falcon-xl-wi...
(not into cars, but love the era)
edit: actually, if you google 'australia you're standing in it TV show' you'll get a bunch of interesting 80s worms too, I'm sure... we're a funny little place..
Hey Base..... yeah, not into cars either, but did love that one. I went down that wormhole you suggested. Thanx! Was interesting to look into Phillip Island. I knew nothing of it. I liked the Penguin Parade more than the auto racing history, but was nice to see a Falcon victorious! (I wanna see the penguin parade.)
Red commodore too lol, told me the other week someone hit him in a car park and he did a cash settlement with them haha, more gundga, now has a blue front panel dodgyed up in the front yard.

Cheers, good to hear from her what happened, clearly he just never expected her to call him out like that.
The verdict
@indo
Listen again and read the above post by @salty.
Then try and apply a little critical thinking which I know is not really your thing.
He declined to meet the organizers demands to agree on 5 points that was a condition of him speaking.I listened again, but i think you need to go listened to it again.
Albo gets up on stage and he says
"we did ask to speak myself and Katie, and we were told that was not possible"
He completely lied and she called him out.
HE NEVER ASKED TO SPEAK, THEY ASKED HIM TO SPEAK.
THEY NEVER REJECTED HIM SPEAKING, HE REJECTED SPEAKING.
BTW. Twice in the interview it says they only wanted him to commit to ONE demand (not five) five was addressed to him when in the crowd
They offered Katie but she also wasn't able to commit to anything.
Basically what Albo and her wanted was to be seen there and to be seen to be supporting the movement they wanted the publicly and photo op because its a female vote winner.
Indo,
It doesn’t matter if it was one or five demands, Albo is not in a position to unilaterally agree to anything. Also, there is not a politician on the planet who would agree to Williams’ conditions. You can argue who said what but Albo could have turned around and said something like “Sarah tried to coerce me into meeting her demands in order to speak…….”, and hung her out to dry. But on the spur of the moment, he chose a more diplomatic response.
Don’t forget, this was after Williams had intimidated Albo by publicly pressuring him to meet her demands. By not responding immediately, he was then heckled and urged to reply. He then asked Williams if she wanted him to speak and she handed him the microphone. He was in a no-win situation but still attempted to set out what the government had done and its plans for the future.
If Albo had declined to attend, he would have been persecuted. In my opinion he has the courage to stand up, state his case and be heard. It’s noteworthy that not one Coalition member was present. Obviously, they don’t care.
Still, the Rabid Right media presented it in a way to discredit Albo.
And have a listen to Williams demands especially in light of the “Freedom of Speech” issue with Musk.
Why are you going off on this weird tangent? all that and your other post is irrelevant and a seperate discussion and nothing to do with his lies.
The issue is not Albo rejecting speaking, the issue is him spinning shit claiming he asked to speak which was a lie, and then claiming he was told it's not possible to speak another lie.
Him claiming this makes him look like the good guy wanting to speak, and he paints her as the bad person for rejecting wanting him to speak.
BTW In regard to your tangent, yes Albo doesn't have to agree to any terms to speak anywhere, and if i was his advisors id also be limiting him from speaking in situations like that too, because for a politician especially a PM he is a very weak pubic speaker and gets flustered and crumbles quite easily under pressure.

Wow, I actually got my grandparents HD premier given to me first, 44 years ago, but it was too far gone for me to fix up was used on a farm, so sold it and bought the EH.

My Falcon was a hand me down from my Great Aunt, who lived thru the 1906 SF Earthquake and Fire. There was no radio, and the passenger side window was held up by a screwdriver wedged in. It was white with a red racing stripe. My Great Aunt was big medicine in our family.

Hey Jelly.... thanx for the parade. I live a penguin-less existence. More is the pity, lol
Oh and on the first car thing, mine was a 1967 Ford Transit van, powder blue. Sliding doors, could drive with them open. Didn't know how to drive a manual so decided i'd just drive from Victor harbor to Sydney and work it out. Picked up an old flame along the way in Melbourne. Got busted by the flame at the time. Remember going around the roundabout on the turnoff to philip island in the wet and doing a full 360. haha. No penguins were harmed and learnt to drive a manual. Sick car!
Well done SR and congrats to those who made the cut.
