I hope you sort things out, but some of the things written over the weekend - now deleted, all screenshot - were beyond the pale.

Leave. Take your refund and go. I never want to read another forum page like that on Swellnet.

Yeah have rewatched again, and to continue with speech with the lady crying was very poor form.
Reckon he could be cooked.
Ashsams post had the full interview with the woman leading the rally on the Ben fordham show and it’s well worth a listen to hear the full story.

And i don't even particularly like Albo.
Good on him.

Funny how you are suddenly concerned about X /twitter post but have never had any issue with countless other twitter post posted by people like Supa & Adam.
Im personally not a fan of these short twitter style post they can be misleading and taken out of context or just nothing more than random opinions.
But in this case I dont think this one could be taken any other way it was clear and long enough to see what happened.
Of course like Sypkan said if this had been Scomo you would have a completely different view on things (as would others).

He lied.
Apologies @roady but i'm not across the details of that.
I saw him ignoring that chick who was blowing up.
Did he lie to her?
Sorry only half following story as i'm at work.
Still don't really get what he would have got out of lying as he has been accused, and may well be guilty of.
Albo quote.
""We did ask to speak me and Katy, but were told that wasn't possible, but that's fine. I respect the organisers right to do that.""
???
Why the lie??
Did he ask to speak? Is that the lie?
Or that it was denied the lie?
Surely if he officially asked to speak there would be record of it.
Weird
ahh ok. Yeah i'll reserve my judgement til i know a bit more of the details.
Who's the chick anyway?
Looked like a tough crowd. Unusual to see a political leader be thrust in front of a microphone and cameras in front of such an emotive crowd.
Normally the two are separated for these very reasons. Would be super easy to manipulate this situation politically if you were the opposition.
I thought he handled what would have been a pretty difficult situation to be in with courage and conviction. Not sure how i would have gone in the same situation. Would have been a stuttering mess i reckon!

it's another lie to albo's bow...
and political opportunists will focus on that... but really that's all just a bit of 'he said, she said' semantics bullshit...
the problem is the 'optics' of the whole thing, he did look a bit of a bully on the stage, and as andymac said, the way just powered on through when she started crying was not a good look at all
yes it looked an emotive crowd, but the insiders vid I posted and other links above give a glimpse into the context...
albo MIA... until a grandstanding opporunity arises... then he flys in... photo ops... and flys out...
seemingly showing little regard for the real players involved
turning into quite a running theme for albo...
the fordham vid shows why the organiser chick probably got so upset, the dude (albo) shut her down beforehand with the most aggressive, arrogrant, and dismissive of statements...
and albo hasn't even denied her account of the exchange...
seems the record stands
the whole shitshow reeks of privelage, entitlement, aggression, arrogance, bullying, dimissiveness, and ego...
throw in a 'smash her' and we've got albo bingo!
the dude's a massive fraud

Hmm maybe @syp.
As i said, i've never been a huge fan of Albo, and there were awkward moments in that speech. But i still maintain i thought he came out of it with his head held high.
Sorry i missed those links you shared. I'm gonna have to check them out later for some context.
I also know that you're a very vocal voice against Labor, universities and the farking ABC, so i'll have to sift through your comment and take that on board.
Sounds like not just he said she said, but also a bit of sypo said too ;-) Which is fine.
Anyway, cheers for filling in a few gaps there. Appreciate it.

Listening to Fordham...
What were the 5 demands she was insisting he must agree on to talk? That seems to be crux of issue.
The hard hitting journo didn't ask that question.
Sounds like he offered to talk but declined as he would not meet or agree to their demands.
Then he was heckled and decided to talk, he is PM.
Fair and balanced reporting ey.

Please correct me if I have misinterpreted or misunderstood anything Williams said:
In her interview with Ben Fordham, Sarah Williams stated she invited Albo to speak conditional on him accepting five demands. She was advised by Katie Gallagher she was happy to speak on behalf of Government, but neither her nor Albo would commit to any of her demands. Williams then told Gallagher if you (or anyone from the government I assume) were not willing to commit to her demands as a condition of her invitation to speak, she was not comfortable having them speak. Williams again asked Albo at the rally if he was prepared to speak to provide any updates (to Williams’ demands I assume), which he declined. Williams then made it clear if he would not commit to those demands, she would call each demand and point to him in the crowd and ask if he would commit by a “thumbs up/down” gesture. Albo did not respond in the requested fashion and was then heckled, asked why are you here etc. Williams then states she heard Albo wanted to speak and asked the crowd (who obviously agreed).
In my opinion, Albo was not in a position to unilaterally agree to a list of demands as a condition of speaking, therefore was justified in saying it was not possible, despite being invited and offering to speak.
Albo was put in a difficult situation by Williams' demand during her speech for a Julius Caesar style response, and he clearly felt the need to speak to set out what had been done to date and plans for further discussion in the near future.
I also feel Williams’ requirement for an immediate acceptance to her demands was totally unreasonable, and her comment “That’s a lie” was immature and deliberately inflammatory. She would have been wiser to pursue that privately with Albo, but she chose to sensationalise it, much to the delight of the Anti Albo contingent.

No that was over 40 years ago and all forgiven, no lasting issues on my behalf.
My old man was a muso had his own band and along with that playing in pubs/clubs ended up an alcoholic.
Used to go on benders for days and Mum and us 3 kids would have to leave to grandparents house or motels, Still remember Mum stabbing him with a knife to defend herself.
When we got into our teens my brother and I used to try and beat him up lol. Brother was into karate.
When he was sober he was hard but you could have thought he was a normal every day father.
Thinking back on it was probably the pressures of life, lost business/music shops, house, money issues etc, and the grog masked it but unfortunately took it out on the family. Back then there would of been no help maybe.
Mum stuck with him and they were married for 58 years till she passed 2 years ago.
I left home at 16 he was 39 then.
When he was 40 he became a Christian and never touched grog again, he’s 83 now and I would say he’s my best mate believe it or not. He lives 5 hours away but we talk or message every day. He has been the best loving/ generous father, grandfather ever since.
My wife knows but have never told my kids as don’t want to tarnish their view on him.
So people can change and people can forgive.
Sorry if I have offended you SR.
Thanks for sharing ashsam. Pretty full on.
Glad alls well now. Good on you for offering up that forgiveness. That's pretty epic.
And, no probs. It's mostly shits and giggles, with a mind to trying to be respectful.
But appreciate that.
Cheers.

Heavy story. I'm glad your dad came good and you now have a positive relationship. Alcohol can be such a evil drug.
DV is a horrible thing.
reckon you've offended a few here, @ashsam, and I reckon you should look deeper than banal forgiveness from strangers.. just my opinion.
being rude to BD and then chumming up with testimony.. that's now up to atheist BD to think on and decide re forgiveness, seems he has given you a probationary pass. Good on you, well done.
We've witnessed you honing in on perceived insecurities and mocking people’s age, girth, orientation, motivation, alcohol consumption, how they sign their names.. there's a lot there mate. May you unpack your shit in a real way that doesn't affect the next generation.. love to you, @ashsam, I mean that.
I reckon you're prolly a bit of a charming bully in life, and you prey on weakness in others, and lock it in as best you can, and snidely use it casually in passing, and get away with seeming like you're a real nice guy. And if you actually do go to an evangelical church, well, I reckon I know a couple of people just like you. I understand it comes from knowing what it feels like to feel powerless. Allll this kinda shit always does.
May your God forgive you, and may we all get on better with the nice people that make up Swellnet.
edit: actually, BD is probably more agnostic
Amen to that @basesix from my atheist abode on this side of the wide brown land.
