I think I’m being tied to an opinion I didn’t really try to establish. I remember the discussion we were having a while back which touched on this and I felt you weren’t getting the gist of what I was saying then either.

Feel free to claim that Trump failed. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- I’m no huge Trump supporter . I’d have gone for Sanders / Gabbard in a just world where the DNC didn’t hobble democracy. I agree with Trump for exposing China and for kicking back against globalisation. I agree with his stance on calling allies to account who sit back whilst the US does the heavy lifting on their behalf . I agree with Trump’s offhand dismissal of the scoundrels which are Merkel and macron . I love how he talks straight about the corruption and dishonesty of the DNC who try to take a moral high ground they do not hold. I enjoy that he’s not a career politician who’s only skill set is graft and an oleaginous public front. I love that he rejects creeping cultural Marxism.

Beyond that he’s neither here nor there for me.

I think his presence in US politics is both the best thing and the worst thing to happen to the US. American politics surely needed a reset. The establishment was just taking the piss and doing so with utter disdain for the country they are bilking . Unfortunately the establishment fought tooth and nail to delegitimise his presidency and tore the nation apart wherever they could in the process.

Black vs White . Man vs Women . The polarisation of the US I appoint blame far more with Trump’s enemies than Trump.

I’m sure there’ll be an emotional outcry about my proposition but that’s how some people operate. In a combative environment they’ll remain steadfastly combative and act in ways they never would if they had a modicum of support around them."

Hahahahahahahahahahaha. Are you talking about Trumpy or yourself, Blowie??

Ummmmmm, let me guess...

You think it was Trump who created the villains ?

The villains did it to themselves. Hillary Clinton is like a caricature of the entitled establishment villain with her barely disguised contempt for the US populace.

Who was it that first described half of America as deplorable ? Talk about consciously engineering a gulf within society. And this time around it’s gone from labelling half the population as dumb hicks to openly referring to them as Nazis .

Think about that for a minute.

There is even people here on Swellnet who will freely describe someone who votes for Trump as a Nazi. Yet they somehow seem to think it’s someone else responsible for creating alienation and division ?

Stu, you say that Trump has split the population - surely that deep divide has been around for at least 20 years, since Dubya.
Trump has just more obviously exploited an existing and reasonably well-established issue.
Sure, it's very poor or non-existent leadership but I don't think you can credit Trump with dividing the population.

We have literally not seen a single day of Trump presidency when he wasn’t under spurious attack of some description. I’m not talking about bemoaning his policies , I’m talking about the relentless four years of Russia dribble , the impeachment double dribble etc etc .

This sounded counterintuitive and astounding to many but I reckon if he was shown a bit of respect he’d become way more respectful . I’m sure there’ll be an emotional outcry about my proposition but that’s how some people operate. In a combative environment they’ll remain steadfastly combative and act in ways they never would if they had a modicum of support around them."

exactly!

way way back, maybe even before trump was elected, bernie said he could cooperate with the unthinkable, a trump administration, and that he thought they could find common ground to work on, especially with things like trade and infrastructure...

but the 'elected' power brokers of the democrats, did not see that, they could
not see any common interest in these very working class concerns. and induged in a 4 year never ending tantrum, attacking him at every possible angle, like rabid dogs, crazed, and feral, every minute of every day

unity, ...fuck, the democrats have plumbed staggering new lows dealing with trump, and they deserve nothing

Im hoping for a moderate landslide, so he can shut down the pathetic democrats properly, ignore them like they don't exist

Give him a few years Andy M.
Trump has been involved in massive vote suppression, declared victory before the votes have been counted, attacked the media, endorsed right wing thugs, undermined the department of justice, etc etc etc.
And he's just undermined the legitimacy of a potential Democratic win with baseless claims of electoral fraud.
It's tinpot dictatorship behaviour.

AndyM's picture
AndyM's picture
AndyM Wednesday, 4 Nov 2020 at 6:51pm

I'd go so far as to say that describing Trump as a fascist undermines the term and leads to a misanalysis of the current political situation.

I mean, you can be a xenophobic racist male chauvinist bastard and still not be a fascist.

Let me plagiarise the following.

"Trump is an illiberal democrat. He is a democrat to the extent that he’s used democratic processes to be where he is, which he doesn’t radically challenge. He obviously plays fast and loose, like any wheeler dealer, with things like the Supreme Court, who he gets in, etc. He doesn’t care about the rules, but the core system he doesn’t want to change, because he’s somebody who’s profited by that system.

Basically, I think it matters whether we call Trump fascist or not fascist, not academically or intellectually, but because it’s a red herring — it actually diverts attention from where we should be doing the critique. If all our intellectual energies are, like Don Quixote, jousting with windmills and fascism, instead of actually jousting with the real enemies of democracy, and using our energies to avert the climate crisis, which is going to engulf us all, if we’re not careful, then we’re wasting our time."

2016 Poll Day Vote Rep -49% (vs) Dems 36%
2020 Poll Day Vote Rep- 48.6 (vs) Dems 49.8% (50 million votes)

Trump has 50,000 crew to Rapid Count to reach a 50% mandate to declare.
But covid has restricted any rush ramping of selected vote counts....> (6ft apart)

Trump sees 2016 election post poll & needs to control the count...
2016 Post Poll votes Rep - 41.5% (vs) Dems 49%

Trump labelled Postal voters as criminals so Republican vote won't be high.
2020 (Record 100m votes = 2x the Poll day Count)

(eg: Pennsylvania Dems =1.6m (vs) Rep' =556,000)
Trump! "Fark!"
Trump owns all Postal Governors & nearly every Judge...
Clearly Trump must dump or burn these swing state Postal Votes

So! How's Trump going with stealing poor peoples First Class mail ?
Well! Pretty darn good as you'd expect...
Postal Votes Delivered on time - Georgia 61% / Detroit 78% / Pennsylvania 69%

Trump's clumsy Postal Governors have lost 22% -39% of the Votes! ( Bummer! )
Accidentally on Purpose in all swing states by Blackest of People...
Should imagine the very same Black People quarantined with fake covid!

Federal soft Republican Black Judge Sullivan ordered Trump's goons to look again.
Seems the swing seats Postal Rate was running a mile behind & more so each day.
Bust posties must delay Judge's order (12:30 - 3:30pm) to (4:00 - 8pm)
All Together Crew : " Postal sweep finishes 1hr outside of 7pm Ballot Close Time?"

Meaning 40% of Black votes in Atlanta Georgia will not be counted.
tbb reviewed & reported here the exact same failed count as in 2016...
2020 (1 booth / county 20,000) 12 hr waits...+ Fake [+] Covid Black quarantine.
Could be that Trump wiped 70% of Black Votes in Georgia.

In more detail.. Judge happened upon 300,000 ballots with no Destination scans
This raised the alarm that Republican Postal Vote Service was up to no good.

I don't agree AndyM. Trump has spent four years undermining the USA's democratic institutions and traditions.
He's just basically declared victory, without the votes being tallied fully, and accused the opposition of stealing the election with zero evidence to back it up. Given his base is heavily armed and seriously deluded, that's a seriously scary scenario.
This election result is worst case scenario stuff.
