Yeah I think we peaked as a species around 1994....
Much media is saying the shooter was a guy called Thomas matthew crooks, alhough a video from what seems like him* on social media very cleverly done says...nah you got the wrong guy.
*based on pics in media
Former President Donald Trump said on social media he was "shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear" when gunfire erupted at a campaign rally in Butler, Pa., Saturday. The Secret Service shot and killed the suspected gunman, identified as a 20-year-old Thomas Matthew
Local law enforcement said he was hit by flying glass. Not a bullet.
FBI have confirmed Crooks as the shooter.
Registered republican, apparently wearing a 2A / militia shirt. Curious.
Secret Service definitely dropped the ball here.
That's some ordinary shit from them given their reputation and considering the size of the venue and the infrastructure in it. Not to mention warnings from the crowd.
Can't see the media over there wanting to quell this. They'll fuel the fire and fan the flames on both sides as usual.
Good luck America, what a shit show.

"Pennsylvania is an outrage..."
Well, as one of the Seppos in this space, i suppose i oughta chime in. First, i condemn the act of this shooter. Not only was it cowardly, but it was an assault on Democracy and each American's right to choose their leader. I think that is abundantly self evident, yet still needs to be said, it is that important. I also want say that it is not a partisan issue. Stu was on it a coupla pages ago (as was Roady). I didn't vote for either in 2020 and currently plan to do the same this year. I don't want Trump as our next President, but i would rather that than he be killed at a rally. As for the Demise Of SeppoLand..... while some of the speculation i have read here has merit, and any/all speculation is understandable i will say that my life, my personal life, my job, my relationships, my possessions, my home.... everything.... is as it was. If that changes, if i lose my job, home, see people being carted off to destinations unknown, i will be sure to let y'all know. In other words, hysterical language is hysterical language. As is partisan language. You guys wanna avoid going down the road SeppoLand is going down? I see that you do. (i see it as you guys already being on that road. Just much further back. It is not a matter of you guys avoiding the road, it is a matter of you guys finding an off ramp.) Avoid hysterical and/or partisan language in spaces like this.

?si=GKzGsL996Lbbby0QThanx Blackers. I read an article on the Trump shooting that described it, in part, as "a shocking turn, in what has already been a highly charged political season..." Not shocking, at all, to me. I mean, the nature of the event itself is shocking, to be sure, but, that it happened? What do people think is gonna happen when violent rhetoric is consistently employed? When enemies are created out of fellows. This country actually has an opportunity. Right now. To see what the near future will look like. And ask ourselves... is this what we want? If the answer to that is no (and for some, it is yes), then it matters far less who you vote for, and what foreign policy you back, than it does how you view and treat your fellow citizen. We have a chance to learn a lesson. I am not going to hold my breath, but i won't term it as impossible.

Hey wax head, my next door neighbour is a loud mouthed yank, every second word is f this f that even in front of his Mrs and daughter.
Has a gun in a gun safe and big trump supporter.
Other than he’s a good bloke/neigbour and I won’t be upsetting him lol ;)
yet to hear is opinion on the days event yet, I’m sure it’s coming ;)
He does say I can’t complain about here as the US is fud.
Poor old Arshram confusing/aligning cussing with degenerate morals.
Good for your neighbor, Ashy, if he is happy. I can't see myself ever leaving the Bay Area cuz i just love it too much (weather, nature and such), even if things go south here, but Oz would be a fine destination, for sure. Saying the US is fud (i dunno what that word means, but i can infer "fucked"), as he does is what he has been conditioned to think, Ashy. For a populist movement to gain traction and move forward, it must be destructive to power. There are other ways forward, sure, like providing Best Governance, for example, but not for a populist movement. And this particular movement has been on the national stage since at least 2012 with the naming of Sarah Palin as VP Candidate legitimizing it. Prob earlier than that with the emergence of Newt Gingrich in the 1990s. It has been effective trumpeting the notion of a nation on the precipice of a cliff. I see this being parroted here quite a bit. It is a nation in decline, yes. From an extraordinary height, a decline is prob inevitable. Doesn't have to be terminal. The populists need us to believe it is. Only they can save us. This has been constant back round noise for folks like your neighbor for a coupla decades now. It has been installed. It is what they believe. Go to the banks in this country. Go to the airports. The movies. The ballgames. They're all packed. And not with "foreigners" (ew)... by normal looking, cheaply dressed patrons. Ya don'y hafta be rich here (tho, it helps anywhere.) The product the populists are selling doesn't match the reality. The product i am selling is not that America is as great as it once was (was it ever tho?), it is that it is not falling off a cliff. I'm so glad i haven't fallen for the dystopian vision. What a lousy way to spend an hour, let alone a life, hey? No wonder why so many are so mad.
supafreaky Tucker plots the Assassination & Greg points at Tom on the Roof who says he's not dead.
Biden : "And they reckon I lost the Plot!"
“From an extraordinary height”
That comment would be extraordinary to anyone outside the USA looking in.
5 bullets in Pennsylvania, but they didn't get the job done,
To miss a head like a witches hat, is another reason America should ban guns.
They prayed to the lord to the jeebus that he be saved, and he rose from the floor defiant,
With a blood stained ear he screamed fight, and somewhere Putin smiled.

Its scary Southern that this nut job’s followers, who think they please God, will now think he was saved by God.
So they reckon the above Vid of Trump Hater TMC is an impersonater...
If that's the case then why is all World Media runnin' stills from it as the guy?
Next Vid is also posted after the shooting...is this also by the same impersonater?
Thomas Mathew Crook sure loves playin' tricks...real Joker he is!
Or are we dealing with Viral uploads or co conspirators or Copy Cat You Tubers?
Hey Seeds.... that comment was in reference to a time gone by, but within my lifetime.
Hey Wax
Lincoln was shot. Plenty shot in 60’s. Reagan 80’s. Fucken nuts.
Might seem a degeneration in USA but out here it’s just more of the same.
I know you’re one of the good ones.
Shoot Seeds (poor choice of words, lol), i can think of 13 presidents and/or president elects who were shot at. Four of em were killed.
14, now
Yeah mate, it just doesn’t happen anywhere else. Well, not much anyway.
ps. I should have added (or not focused on that line) as you nicely stated it’s real normal when out and about. Maybe you live in the best city in the best state for that vibe.
Geez, i was just reminiscing now about 3/30/81. I was 12 and home alone (sick and didn't go to school, mom and dad both at work, me old enough to be home alone). I was watchin tv (maybe Adam 12) and they interrupted with President Reagan giving a speech and then walking out to get in his car. I was prob miffed cuz they were buttin in on my tv time (12 yrs old, don't care what Pres says), but i watched anyways. Watched him get shot on the street, on live tv.
Guess it's a rite of passage for a seppo, lol. First cigarette, first drink, first time with girl, first time see Pres shot, etc, etc.......
Funny stuff, Soggy
Unintentionally linked to your last comment wax24.
One of my life’s regrets was not Surfing OB while in SF.
Thanks for your insight Wax24....

He married a Aussie and had 2 kids here, been here a long time.
Never been to the US so no nothing myself lol ;)
If it wasn't for the Trump and Biden show wouldn't even be a bit interested in US politics.
goofyfoot wrote:Say what you want about Trump but Pretty visually impressive effort to get up off the ground with his fist up in defiance.
It’s the attitude you want a leader to portray.
I just found out Teddy Roosevelt was shot while on a lectern yet still finished the speech.
And the speech was 90 minutes long!
"Schrank's bullet lodged in Roosevelt's chest after penetrating Roosevelt's steel eyeglass case and passing through a 50 page thick (single-folded) copy of his speech titled "Progressive Cause Greater Than Any Individual", which he was carrying in his jacket pocket. Schrank was immediately disarmed and captured; he might have been lynched had Roosevelt not shouted for Schrank to remain unharmed. Roosevelt assured the crowd he was all right, then ordered police to take charge of Schrank and to make sure no violence was done to him."
'Merica! Fuck yeah!
Going to be interesting to see what comes of all this.
The difference between Trump and Albo.
Trump gets shot and then plays a game of golf.
Albo gets a death threat from a teenager then has a little cry on TV.

No one I know hates this country
Maybe i should have worded it different there is a growing anti western sentiment in the west including in Australia.
And things like being proud of your country and culture, patriotism and nationalism are being seen as bad.
Things are going to get much worse unless that whole attitude turns around, which it wont.
We will become much more divided, and it becomes even worse when we import large numbers of people with values, culture even religion that don't align with our own. (our religion being a mild Christian culture non beliver majority)
USA & Europe in a much worse place than us though, they are much further down the track.
Agree, it's come through the unviersities via Frankfurt School teachings over a period of 60-70 years, the 'long march through the institutions' is over and now the anti-western sentiment is evidenced in institutions of state.
If you go back, the whole idea of 'colonialism' was actually promoted as a Soviet strategy that was useful in 'wedging' countries targeted for coups on the periphery of the cold war fault lines; and thus you saw western South African or Rhodesian forces up against Marxist guerilla groups that were sponsored by Russia, China, Cuba. Eg Angola War, Bush War. Now 'colonialism' as a ideological construct is the dominant ideology of our unis, and it divides cosmopolitan populations by race and perceived background of their ancestors. Like formenting a Spartacus revolt.
You might like this Indo:
It would be much, much better now if the western nations took a step back and looked at the ideological divide as a way to undermine them, rather than the vitriol. The division is to weaken them, and a big fight is coming - their enemies are converting their economies to war economies. Wake up!
Great vid VJ. Thanks

I like how your head is screwed on @wax24, stick this as your desktop background.. you can stare at it for ages, what an average (white) US nuclear family consumed over the course of a year in 1951. That's milk bottles and dairy on the floor in front of them. It's how a lot of those 'boomers' grew up, with endless plenty, amid the sugar-fuelled phantasmagory of superhero comics and hollywood plots. The envy of the world, even Aus/Can/NZ.

What happened to the business?
Ran out of idiots?
lol:)
Reflecting on the mad imagery of last night, I'll put this out there for discussion
The pic with Trump under the security team's cover, under the US flag, wounded and shaking his fist in the air had real Iwo Jima vibes to it, incredible photo. It's one of the most remarkable political pics I can think of and will probably end up being a historic shot. The US flag, in that perspective, is upside down which adds extra drama to the photo given the meaning.
Trump has survived, and barely so. One of those moments in history where the future hangs on the balance of a blade. I wonder what events it will set in path? He's already mentioned he's changed his Milwaukee final speech, maybe toning down the vitriol.
I cannot see how he can lose at this moment. It's like he's faced the fire in a terrible rite of passage and survived. His resolve will be righteous. Cue the old 'God Emperor' memes.
We watchd the snipers' response many times. Were they caught off guard? I assume the spotter was standing taller, did he have to adjust his sights once shots were heard? And how did that building, outside the speech area, with a clear view and higher aspect, get overlooked?
