There is no firm conclusion yet. The data so far support the less serious but more infectious view. The degree to which each of those has changed will probably be the key. If the rate of infection has increased proportionally more than the seriousness has declined that translates to more serious cases and potential stress on the hospital.system. We have to hope the equation runs in the other direction.

Not only lower rate of hospitalisation but average length of time in Hospital in SA gone from 8.5 days to 2.8 days.
Even that women in UK that died from the variant is said to have been old and had other medical conditions.
These so called experts always take a super conservative view point as do media and politicians, i guess they just want to safe guard themselves, if they take a more positive view and then it turns out bad they will get blamed, but if overcall things and then it doesn't happen, although they were wrong nobody cares.
I guess they also don't want people to have too much of a carefree attitude and not take things seriously too.
