Stu, Very small world. That would be Uncle, founder of the Sandon Point Tent Embassy at MacAulays Beach. I spent New Years Eve Day with him in the Royal National Park.
Two of the crew at the Yoga Camp at Otford over Xmas New Year were his niece Fleur, and her partner Lockie (has got a bone thru his nose and carved chest), they called in Uncle to take us on country, his country, for the day. He took us along cliff tops, and then up into swimming holes off the tracks. He also told the rangers to jam their $11 cos we were with him. It was awesome.
Speaking of music, Lockie and Fleur are full on into restoring their native tongues, music and dance. Mens songs, womens songs, couples songs, dreamtime songs plus their own songs in their native tongue. When they sung, husband and wife, I swear it was eternal harmonies from the heavens.
Hanging with Lockie, and of course Uncle, for me was actually much more spiritual than what was happening in the yoga camp, even tho' it was at the Krishna complex. Lockie was really cool, we talked a lot about the "clever people" of the spirit world, time & space, manhood, mother earth, all sorts, over the week.
(You should get yourself up to the Krishna complex at Govinda Valley, Otford. Its right on your door step, they have regular Iyenga classes and all sorts of stuff happening, and if you're lucky get a vego feed by Pritha, its insane.)
Plus, I figure since I know Iron Dog and now Uncle, I'm sweet at Sandon so long as I wait my turn.
Anyway, back to Frank...
Great tune with a doozy film clip.

Here you go Sid, I've always liked this song-
Loved the playroom was so sad to see that place go such an icon of the south end of Goldie music/surf scene.
Love The Rifles such an underrated Aussie band crazy there still playing I always catch them when they play in Melb.
Was thinkin' of old goldie spots that rocked. Playroom was up the road, for anytime under age binge drinking weekends, school mates Loved it. I never went to the Playroom much, only when necessary, nor Bombay Rock up Surfers.
Did go to The Patch and Jet Club, way too many times.
the Stems touring with theSunnyboys right now
Fuck ya Sheepie, get this up ya...
Sidney fishious...... You dead set arsehole...... ;) That calls for The sheepdog party decisive action plan.....
Yeah?! Yeah?! Want some more? Bitch! lol ;)
Galatic strikeback, undar the milkyway tonite...
The Psychedelic Furs ... I follow where my mind goes...
The church..... yeah....... the furs......nah....
&feature=kpAnd I'm sure the national parliament of "those that do stuff" could pass legislation to this oldy...
And sid, one of the biggest buzzes in music, I reckon, is when you hear an acoustic version of a song, in particular a song that was big budget produced...... When i first heard this tune, with all of it's over produced crap, I despised it,,,,, hated it...... still do....
But somewhere i came across a copy of an acoustic version...... Totally different song, man.... Chalk and cheese....... Couldn't believe it......
ay sheepy , what about this acoustic cover .
"
imagine it with florence welsh as well ...
and how was the cielo in the middle of the " wish you here " version .
how could i forget this old chestnut .. unfortunately I can't find the footage i first saw of this was incredible . I think Rage played as one of the first songs on tribute to hard rock special ...
"
more fine string work ...
"
Not a bad little acoustic version this one-
PS This thread is awesome, some great tracks.
after welly , these guys are next best thing to come out of NZ .
"
.Nice, Southey..... Yep.... Acoustic - the song stripped down to it's essence... having a "little bit" to do with the music scene, I can assure all those that haven't, the acoustic "version" is often if not always the first version a songwriter produces... You then have "producers", "hangers on", and other vultures who want a slice of the creation pie, trying to put their little stamp on the track.... But "going back to the start", that's where the "tingles" are,,,, when spontaneous melodies, rythms and lyrics flow like honey..... Yeah..... When you are there, it's a good as surfing..... no shit....
Not much female representation here in this thread.... Sticking with the current acoustic theme, here is one voice, one guitar, and one harp.... many will think it its crap, but those with pagan blood will feel the pull of ancestory........ Fuckn awesome
Couple of smokin' babes empowering chicks everywhere Sheepy and keeping with the acoustic theme-
yeah , sheepy . earlier i lamented that i'd love to hear Florence and Paul Dempsey to sing duet together with SFK their versions of "Sweet Nothing " written and produced by Calvin Harris .
I really like this " when acoustic became a trend due to MTV unplugged .
"
Awesome Southey, Scott Weiland what a great voice.
Fitzy, Skunk Anansie forgot about them, cool- Rockin'!
too much ?
"
I actually prefer her with a full brutal live set of this song ... turn it up loud ( or laternatively find a live recording of this song )
"
fitz thats classic ..... i seriously didn't see your post .... " great minds , think alike " . cheers
while we're on women . i believe this song was dedicated to her famous father . but i'd like to dedicate this to big lifty ....

"
Haha, yeah Southy, I forgot about your second song, awesome.
Its a glass out here at the moment and I'm steaming along with the stereo blaring the Ipod on shuffle, I swear they can here me coming 3 reefs away!! I could link heaps of tracks at the moment but I'd drive ya all mad!!! Love this thread!
back on blokes ... here's three of 'em dueling voices over the top of each . ( ignore the shit band they are singing infront of )
"
Here's one the gimpdawg done back in them thar woods, dedicated to the swellnutter club. But not in winter, because its only a song in summer... depending on the light, because it isn't NNE then, although it appears NW, not in WA though, and is a devilled wind in the toilet when it stinks on the Gold Coast... nuff said.
They did an awesome live at the wireless on the J's years ago.
Last one for today..........promise :)
Gotta play loud and live...........
yep, after that rant last night, uplift, you better take your meds.... You haven't been the same since I pointed out your latent sexuality.....
It's ok.... We accept you for who you are, uplift....
Call that fucker gimpdawg!
Fuck'n callers. Hundreds of 'em. One on every point. Blacks sorts em out.
Yeeeeehhhaaaaa gimpdawg, call that there fucker!!!!
Uplift, Swellnet has blacks well overhead today, ese wind...... But where's the stairdodger???? In front of his fuckn computer..... still sooking over a conversation days ago, nursing his hangover from being up post midnight makin a dick of himself for the whole world to see....... pretender, out of the closet....
another killer tune from Florence and the Machine -
Southy. Cheers for the martha song.... cool
Acoustic Karen.....
Silicun - try the live acoustic version....
I grew up hating Cold Chisel having to suffer our local pub full of derro's who would get pissed out and sing along to Khe San as if they were all vets, the same guys who would start swinging at you 'cause you looked at them the wrong way. I did like lots of their songs but the band seemed to embody these shitheads to me at the time. Since those days Ive come to appreciate them much more as consummate musso's and song writers. Here is Sarah Blasko doing a version of the powerful Flame Trees -
And one from the boys, I just love this film clip -
Thats a great version sheepie, wow! what a girl!! that song is a real spine tingler, gets me everytime especially these live versions
Nina Simone is worth a mention here, I dig most of her stuff and particularly the Dylan covers she has done. Here's a favourite, an intense version of 'The Ballad of Hollis Brown' about a farmer murder suicide -
But what about the early "rock chicks", silicun? :)
Speaking of chicks, my chick is gonna go off the deep end if I don't get off the computer. I think she thinks I'm looking at porn ;) Better go "do something"......
Anyway, r.i.p. Chrissie.....
Latest album from Fat Freddys Drop - Blackbird.

Post Modern Jukebox are doing some cool stuff, changing up new tunes with old style.
Some songs make time stand still... Now, this certainly wont be everyone's cuppa tea.... I am no fan of this artist, but her cover of this Cohen classic beggars belief... I have to give credit where credit is due.... Her vocal control, at 4.58 in particular, is phenomenal. Alot of people think this song is a "bible bashing" song, but it aint..... If you digest the lyrical content, the title has nothing to do with god. The title is a metaphor for 'love".....
It's about thrill of falling in love, then the monotony of a controlled relationship, and finally the grief of something that was once beautiful, now turned to poison.... Incredible lyrics by Cohen....
Just interloping here, been movin' house all day. Someone mentioned Cold Chisel back there and bogans.
Well, have you crew ever met a girl, obviously "someones' daughter, and her name is Khe Sahn ? I have, and you immediately know you're in Bogan central. I'm sure there are numerous girls named Khe Sahn across the country, the less you met, prolly the better.
(Sid's gunna be offline for a bit after tonite, have moved further up into the Ozarks, up into the snowline, am waiting for the Satellite iNet to get connected.)
Take it easy sid........ Good luck in your new field of opportunity :)
Ah Crissie - Australia's answer to Joan Jet, the girl was all rock. TGF nice on the Fat Freddys Drop, their sound has really developed. Sheepie, im no fan but this is probably the best thing Ive seen from KD Lang, your right its an incredible piece of writing.
The Jolly Boys put out this rough diamond a couple of years back, an album covering some classic tunes, from Iggy's The Passenger to New Order's Blue Monday with a whole lot in between.
These guys have been around a long time, legend is they got the name The Jolly Boys when they were Errol Flynn's mento house band on his private island off Jamaica back in the mid 50s.
It's an album that can feel a little dis-jointed on the first listen, but like any rough diamond, gets better with age, and that's something these boys have plenty of.

Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.
Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.
