Tunes

Indeedy.
Dirty Three for me tonight in Melbourne. Pumped. Seminal Australian band.
I keep finding all this new decent music of late, this current Victorian band has a lot of potential kinda shoe gaze, indie jangle pop, definitely alt tunings think Polvo, Sandpit hear Pavement in one song and early pumpkins vibe.
Vocals are a bit buried and songs all sound a bit samey but then again sometimes you need to give this type of music a good listen and before you know it, it all clicks and it sounds perfect and you wonder how you ever thought those things.
Decent band name too
&t=2sCan’t fault a video shot in mum and dad’s backyard. Nice find Indo. They wear their influences proudly.
Nice one indo.
All over it.
That's the goods indo
Come on!
Got to support these guys a few times. Worship mode. Up the might Clams!
And since we're on all things S.A great.
If you like it raw. And i do.
Keeth.
Probably the most underrated band to come out of south ozzie.
Loved these guys live.
And since Adelaide has become a theme here....one of the best songs to ever come out of the city of Satan.
Force Fed 9
No fuken shoe gayzen here. WTF???? hahaha
lest we forget @indodreaming is the troll who called all who despised the killing of innocent Gazan civilians as 'pro hamas' and 'anti semetic'.
There's no such thing as a civil society when evil lurks within.
The trolls on this website need to be eradicated.
Kill it. Kill it dead i say!
Early 80's Goldie Punkz spun these Psych Surf Punk trax on our turntables.
We had a SA Punk crew at the Hovel & even dated a SA Punk Chick.
Our Bass Player had a Child with SA/Goldie Punk Chick...in our Blood!
Goldie Bands borrowed that Heavy Slab like SA (Stranglerz Bass)
Our partner Punk Band Mates also opened for Exploding White Mice in Surfers!
There ya go...Authentic Punked out Tribute from yer real deal Punk blood bros!
Goldie crew dedicate SA Psych Surf Punk...3peat...to SA crew...luv yer Punk Bands & Chix!
Surfin' Prostitute Beat ~ The Acid Drops
Flashback to Acid Beach ~ The Spikes
Pipeline ~ Exploding White Mice
Love it TBB!!
Here's one for you TBB. Not sure if you ever made to the Melbourne Mecca. You may even see yourself here. A couple of years before my time.
Cheers southern Raw blackers...so this weird track is from a re re-release...cool...
Ok...we'll go again with Authentic Vicco-Goldie Punk influence...bigger than all of us it is!
Reckon yer Clip is early 1980-Punks still wore any shit...rags or school ties -New Wave Black
Winter / Mid 1980 onward Oz punk crews got into gear..can recall the change was instant shock.
Me mate rocked up in ultra spiked hair 3 inch screw collar with Gestapo Get Up...Gulp!
Next thing ya know we got Cheek 2 Ear Safety Pin initiation, demolition surfin' over beer cups!
World Title bout to enter the Pit...soon sorted out any halfhearted entering PC's Punkz Corner!
Even tbb had to fight this Old school UK Rude Boy Allan...just to Punk out in the Pit!
You've got to be kiddin' me...this rumble was endless initiation...give us a break ya bloody bastard.
Kept tryin' to trip tbb...be the hero & take down the wild punk...never give him the pleasure!
Sadly tbb has only passed thru Mbne Airport on route to Perth.
Can share this secret >
1977-1983 UK-Perth / NZ / Vic + SA Punks Sharpies + Bne / Goldie were core shock protest Bands"
1984-NSW Detroit Surf Punks waited for core scene to fade & bullied out the Chix to steal the Glory.
tbb walked into 1990's punk scene...all declaring they were first & only Goldie Punkz...all sorted then!
tbb's 3x best flat mate was a bit older & a pretty heavy Frankston Sharp ...as in banished...won't say!
Southern sharps got instant pass into Goldie Punk Crew!
On account coz they always did with rooted 70's pinnie hall crews...always a sharp on yer back.
Better to have 'em in yer crew...no brainer...never run outta smokes then.
eg: Lived in same Hovels & Steve even dated same chick...no worries ever...all cool!
Vic Roadie > Managed tbb's 2nd Band & then Joined in on Guitar for next 2 line ups...
Scored us these daggy gigs to shock crowds...(Battle of Bands/C&W Talent Quest) Steve...WTF!
Recorded some cool instrumentals with Steve...
Kinda like Punk Godfather Instrumentals...(60's Mobster Punk)
He Also co wrote & sung one or two...top bloke Steve is...
Recorded a good lot with tbb...even prime track or two at core Goldie Punk Gig...etc...
See Steve kinda walked in & knew it was a unique & rare scene > for most it was just a fun gig!
Steve was a real tripper & Goldie should buy him a beer...
After our bands split up, Vic Steve started up Battleaxe First Goldie solid HM Act.
Vicco Steve pioneered $1 bands @ The Cooly Patch...
Recorded a Live Promo Tape for Each Band (Win! Win!)
Patch / Punters were stoked & Bands get a Free Demo Tape as they pack up! Total Punk Package!
Happy to share how yer undercover Frankston Sharp kept on pioneering Goldie Punk / Metal
Production Company > Vidz / Music / Interviews / S&M Costumes...
Steve is Next Level freaky on a cool Level...Salute Vicco - Goldie Music Pioneer
Ok! HM Dave Graney Harem comes to mind...
Ravens Court ~ Speedball (7min Instrumental) is tbb's Fav but YouTube Locked it...
(Private Vid?) Can only guess it's illegal "Drug / Nude vice" in the You Tube Clip?
Happy to share rare back up samples of under the Radar Vic Sharp bossing our Goldie Alt scene...
Yeah...so rare...not even supposed to be a thing...right! Exclusive Alt Vic taboo treat for Ben's Tunes!
&list=PL47D6DDC45354115D&index=6
Nice tale TBB. The Frankston sharps were the real deal, a hard town to grow up in/around. The Pier Hotel was the place, can understand why the DK's played there. Turned into a tie and jacket disco with a revolving dance floor but is now back to form, I saw the Psycho's play on Australia Day with my lad. A few of the old crew still about but much calmer.
Some new gen psych.

Decent band name too
Dont you love music that just gets better and better with each listen and you just can't get enough of, ive only had these two song's of this band in a new spottily music mix and these songs just get better with every listen totally frothing on them and ready to dive into. more of their stuff.
Im also currently really digging some stuff from: Tropical strength, GRYTT, Momma, Drunk mums
And also came across these guys love this tune
Im not a huge instrumental music fan, but ive been digging the odd song from these guys too
Fuck knows why or how, but great new/newish music is popping up everywhere of late, while other times i try and listen to a lot of new stuff and everything i listen too just doesn't do it for me or im like yeah this is good and then the vocals kick in and im like argh...no.
I honestly thought my days ive new music were done, but im just frothing on these new tunes like im twenty again.
Faaark!
This page is top shelf.
Well done to everyone who's posted.

Q: Did they have ShoeGazers back in yer Punk Daze tbb...Say Wot?
We had a few Early 80's outliers (Shoe Gazers) that were considered too Cool for Our New Wave Era!
Shine like diamonds they did & still polish up nicely but in their own disguise.
One thing in common...instantly come to mind as in right here & now...everyone honours them as Gods.
Also gonna prove how these Quality Trax never needed a Vid then or Now!
1982 tbb @ Ipswich Band 'The Colours' live at Boggo Road Prisoner's Benefit Gig.
"You know...All gotta queue for Cups of Beer & Bread'n'Bangers (Proceeds to Prisoner's Families)
Band was like no other in the day...Not Psych / Mod / Punk / New Wave...Out there > Atmospheric!
That's when tbb first heard their new Song 'Blue Shirt' live...The Sound of all Time...outta my mind!
So meek they were...almost apologetic...for mucking with our tiny minds!
Shoe Gazers from a future time....Blur 20 Years too early...Oopsie! tbb's @ Wrong Gig Wrong Era!
tbb : "Blur in'n'out they did...thought impossible for the time!"
4ZZZ latched onto the Police State Code!...In my Blue Shirt, nothing touches me!
1980 : NZ Screaming Mee Mees another bunch of Shoe Gazers from the Future

1983 Young Docteurs ~ Running from The Heart
This fooled tbb... was checking for other cool ACT songs & solved a riddle!
2000 U2 gig in 1983...how does that work? Wrong Gig Wrong Era.
This next song is so good > tbb heard The Church boss this & often...Surely their best track!
Only tbb had all their LP's could never find it...always thought it was a rare B side.
Say to mates...Wot is this kick arse Church track...even heard these Signature Power Riffs in Promos.
Only just now (Yes while Backtracking) traced the original performers of "Runnin' from the Heart"
https://www.discogs.com/release/5592084-Young-Docteurs-Running-From-The-...
22nd Sept 1984 Canberra band Young Docteurs backed up the Church...only to blow their tiny minds.
Here's wot tbb reckons happened...
Church : "Like we gotta go on after these Local Heroes...Like OMG! Salute...You guys rock!"
Luv yer epic track...reckon we could borrow that...even keep that cool Whistling bit at the End.
Gotta tell ya guys...Church wear this song like a glove...turn it into their signature Live go to tune!
Fooled tbb right up to this very day!
Oz Live Music punters Salute this Time Bomb > blows yer Gig into the Stratosphere! Like Holy Shit!
Dead Set Oz Rock Royalty Anthem of all ages...just left on lying on the shelf...[750] Views C'mon!

Dunno if i missed something tbb, but yeah, i'm on board.
As i said, page 136 is bomb.
Haven't done socials for years now, so i miss a lot of music. Good to see old, new or forgotten tunes on here.
Dig the Grün. Nice one Ben.
And still kickin'goals there, tbb.

Great release from 2022:

Not even slightly.
Saw The Dirty Three, same place, two nights ago. No need to return for repeats.
sound.
well, it seems the c-word is back on the cards for you @seeds.
I was (and continue to be) wrong about it, it seems.
I tore a page from the melbs Beat mag gig guide,
(because it didn't mention Totally Unicorn's gig tonight),
and asked the singer and guitarist to sign it to you.
The choice response to this was:
"4 seedz 4 EVA perk up cunt! AZ & me boys. TU/"
(I'll swap the signed page for the dab,
and send it with the coorong book soon)
Ha classic. Not advertised? Did you stumble across it? What was the gig like?
I jumped on the website looking @blackers Vovos recommend..
TU was great - you'd love 'em. The singer spent 85% of the gig in the crowd doing handstands and such - he accidentally knocked my pint out of my hand at one stage mid-song (after miming swimming on the bar), said sorry really sincerely, then after a beat said 'but, well, get out of the fucken way..' Most of their songs were way better than that Fri(ends) one I posted.. Good winter solstice was had by all.
collingwood.. GRYTT.. free gig in 2 hours @indo..

Nice but id be late im in Jakarta waiting for a flight. :D
^ hahaha, late as..
Pretty epic memories of this song by this great Australian band. 1996(?)...Having cookies at Peccas place at the back of Pt Campbell and then jumping in the kingswood station wagon for a tour of the G.O road along 12 apostles, heading down to Lunas in the late arvo light thinking....that looks semi surfable..ha.
The lead section in this song straight away takes me back to that roadtrip.
This is more than a song, it's a journey. One of the special musical masterpieces.

Always get caught out never expecting a cool Canadian outlier to jump the shark.
swellnet drum circle are rollin' out another exclusive.
Never could have imagined such insane deluxe new wave drum patterns
Gonna have to call it...{ Mid 1960's Canada New Wave Scene } Wotz that!
Each entirely different to Trax of their era & themselves >
Modern composition is light years ahead of it's time...
This teaches tbb a lesson for writing off Canada as a MOR blank page...Salute these innovators!
Once again...Time Lords that had no right returning back to Mid '60's Canada!
Impossible to play these trax live without blowing minds...
How is this not a thing in the Rock'n'Roll Highschool songbook.
Just pause to consider this triple bill Mid' '60's New Wave gig...Highly illegal!
Actually starting to consider if they had their own rave (Drug) scene.
Stoked to share some trax again but as a New Wave trio surprises tbb the most.
It's only fair to give these Canadian bands credit in light of what you'll hear...Enjoy!
Good digging, TBB.
Cheers.
Good point #1Stu...One digs '60's tunes...only Hodad tbb trawls thru Psych wards!
1966 Frustration is the blank gen gem B Side of The Painted Ship's 1st single 'Little White Lies'
Cool Vocals : Bill Hay / Drums : Barry Rowden / Guitar : Bob Rowden / Bass-Keys : Ken Wain

Wow ! Great coaching from the top down...crew are comin' alive...Salute Ben's Insane Juke Box.

^^^ unlimited carrot cake and milk tea until Taylor dropped in. Gotta sign in.
ps. I didn’t mind that Taylor song! Pop sensibility I guess. What does that really even mean? Yeew!!!!
Nearly 20 years old, so good.
so good, @blackers, I actually rate ben salter's cover, he's being ever sooo careful and nervy, but that respect-from-a-distance has it's own kinda charm going on.. also good to hear the amazing songwriting, in a tropical fuck calm that we can absorb. Incredible song and songwriter.
Excellent B6. I like the Missy Higgins version too for the same reasons. But there is something about how the slack tuning on the guitar matches Liddiard’s vocal quirks in the original. A powerful song about the black dog. But with match scope for personal interpretation as per this quote: Phil Jamieson described Shark Fin Blues as like ''having passionate sex on a boat in rough seas, all rolling and rollicking, missed kisses and missed holes.''
Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.
Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.
