Waxy, I was just in your lovely country last week. Left just before that horrible event so I didn’t see the US media coverage.

I can’t get my head around the fascination with guns. I’m confident that I’ve fired more bullets than 99% of feral rednecks and law-abiding gun-owners. I’m pretty proficient with firearms. Pistols, rifles, machine guns and more. But I’ve never owned a gun and don’t care to. I don’t care if I never fire a gun again in my life.

I’ve had this conversation when I lived in the US, over beers, breaking down 2A and discussing all of the interpretations etc. What type of weapons are protected under 2A? What is a regulated militia? With educated, reasonable, urbane and well-travelled friends. Immune to logic. Or at least the ‘logic’ that works in the majority of the western world.

Guns are associated with freedom and freedom is dependent on guns. And there’s no talking anyone round.

As i neared the store, i watched, in abject horror mixed with surreal interest, a guy approach another guy and pump two shots into his head from some kinda small handgun.
Sounded like fireworks and nothing more.
If i didn’t witness it dead on, i’d never imagine the sights and sounds would produce what i found. Small forecrack-y “shots”! rendered a man dead.
I won’t go into details.
I know i am an amateur at this stuff.
I proceeded to get my fucking tomato and my goddamn fucking six pack.
I’ll never hold a gun.
They can come for me.

When was the last time you changed your mind or view on things?

If you dont change your mind/views at times then you cant be doing the above.

Of course these people that never change their mind/view just think they always get it right the first time, some go through life with the same views as they did since their teen years.

Personally i have changed my views on all kinds of things im always reevaluating things, just in the last few years ive changed my views on aspects of Climate change, things around Covid, views around ethnicity and self identification.

Over the years Ive kind of swung all over the place on views on Trump because he is far from perfect and has some big pros and cons, i certainly didn't think at the end of his last term and how he handled defeat id ever be thinking he would be the best option for president, but i think globally its more important than ever that we have strong leader of the free world, we saw under Biden how damaging the effects of a weak leader can be, personally i think Kamala could be even worse.

Dude you need to work on this sleep thing its not going to help you getting back to sleep, thinking politics or posting on swellnet at 2:00am, its probably the worse thing you can do, getting all worked up over others views and some crazy fear of Trump getting elected.

You need to clear your mind, do something relaxing like some yoga or mediation, or if the missus isnt up for action at 2:00am maybe some self love will help.

I know the meditation thing sounds a bit hippyish, but you can use simple mediation technique's like focusing on your breathing or thinking back to positive memories and re-living things.

If you really have to do something maybe TV or a book might help, but avoid the temptation of going online.
