Fun weekend, tiny next week
Southern Tasmanian Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday June 21st)
Best Days: Keen surfers Friday, beaches Saturday morning, keen surfers Tuesday and Wednesday mornings
Features of the Forecast (tl;dr)
- Moderate sized SW groundswell building tomorrow PM, easing Sun
- W/NW winds tomorrow, NW tending variable Sun
Recap
2ft of E/SE swell with clean conditions early yesterday ahead of an onshore change, clean again today but with a bit of leftover lump.
This weekend and next week (Jun 22 - 28)
Our run of E/SE swell will come to an end on the weekend with a good pulse of SW groundswell set to take its place.
This has been generated by a healthy frontal system tracking east-southeast through the Southern Ocean, forming a strong polar low south-west of yesterday and this morning.
A good pulse to 2ft+ is due tomorrow afternoon, peaking overnight, easing Sunday. We might see the odd 3ft’er at the peak and W/NW winds are due all day tomorrow, NW tending variable Sunday.
Unfortunately as touched on last update there’s nothing significant at all for the rest of next week with no major storms firing up in the Southern Ocean and a mid-latitude low will move into the Bight and stall too far north of our swell window.
So make the most of the weekend and keep an eye on developments from next weekend. Have a great weekend!
