Watch: Brett Burcher // Out of Africa
Perhaps you remember Brett Burcher's short film released this time last year? 'Blue' was filmed through 2017 and, amongst other places, featured a large chunk of South Africa.
Rather than simply ticking SA off the bucket list, that trip only fuelled his desire for more; to gorge on the J'Bay high lines and to roam further from the surfing hubs.
"Everything South Africans do, they do in rhythm," said Brett. "Their graceful movements are one with the winds that blow through the grasses of the plains. One wave above all that demands such rhythm is J'Bay."
Like 'Blue', a large chunk of this clip is filmed at J'Bay with Burch working the intricate rhythms, with the back half shot ten hours away on a less-trodden coastline with four salt-crusted Aussies camped among the local Xhosa people.

Thankyou for the trip, I really miss point breaks but not the crowds
Very nice clip. Reminds me of Tubular Swells.
Nice, thanks!
Real nice. Coming up with tunes and so well edited to suit is the magic. Well done.
I reckon Brett and Pacey have a similar approach but the little bit drawn out lines here with the longer rail is the more enjoyable for me.
Other spot looks like the same one JJF visited in his movie.
You could be forgiven for thinking that 2nd pointbreak was Lennox (but with only 3 people)
Really liked the wide perspective shots nice. Cause too much tight footage can just be anywhere and gets boring. Also hope the great - Brian Jones Town Massacre - got paid for first song used - (someone covering them).
Makes me want to pack the bag and head off. Thankfully not too much of the 'finless' wave clips. I just don't get the whole finless movement. Especially when you see big majestic linking carves. Does it mean a retro revival of the surf mat is just around the corner??
