Hovering Jack Robinson - video
This week Jack Robbo had an inconspicuous finish in the Vans HIC Pro at Sunset Beach, a lowly QS 3,000 event. To little fanfare the young West Australian made the semis, but more importantly the result saw him jump 22 places on the rankings and allows him to contest the heavily weighted Hawaiian QS events.
You may recall that back in January Jack won the Sunset Open - a QS 1,000 - getting his 2017 campaign off to a flyer, yet despite contesting 16 more events he could only count nine heat wins. Coming into this week's event he was still outside the Top 100.
Jack has almost no chance of qualifying for the CT - unless you consider winning both Haliewa and Sunset a possibility - but it'll be good to see him in the type of surf he excels.
And here's some more of the same: Jack lancing weed-ridden, below sea level drainers near home.

Looks like the Margaret River mouth beach break, with all the seaweed and the rip bowl.
