Last weekend's Peahi Challenge provided some of the best big wave footage ever seen, in or out of competition. If you watched it live you may have noticed a GoPro on fourth placegetter Kai Lenny's board.

Kai's just dropped that footage and complemented it with other land-based shots taken through the day. The scene with Hippo falling out of the sky makes for great sport, as does the caught inside moment.

Cracking footage! If I were Hippo, I'd get that framegrab mounted on the wall. Looks incredible.

Sheesh, You know it's a massive tube when you're standing bolt upright with arms up and not even close to touching the roof of the tube! Struth Ailsa!

That back looking go pro footage always looks so underwhelming compared to any other angle, I don't see the point (unless hipwad falls off right behind you I guess) just lots of head pulls and whitewater. Cliff footage is sick though.

Sheesh - hard call Campbell on the go pro footage - the wave from 1.40 inside I think is the same as the 1.54 cliff wave, and 1. it is still pretty sick inside, and 2. the two sequences give you an insight as to how to judge inside footage - yes, it looks so much smaller by a factor of 1/3, but it isn't in reality. I reckon bear that in mind next time you or someone raves about being in a barrel which is really only a 4 foot wave. Maybe the nerds somewhere will invent a 'reality distorter' for go pros that show the inside like it really is? Only problem with that is it will only be a nano second before it gets abused to distort things beyond reality!
