Conner Coffin // J'Bay - video
On paper it seems so straightforward: bottom turn to top turn, drive down the line, repeat. But such simplicity belies the intricacies of J'Bay, a wave that changes speed on a whim and that forces surfers to execute turns where they can rather than where they want.
Conner Coffin shows his adaptability in this short clip which features numerous versions of the bottom turn/top turn combo, each of them slightly different than the last.

Could watch this fella all day on these waves, real old school licks and riffs, if he was a musican I reckon he would be Gary Clarke Jr. What a contest it was! Didn't watch a wave at Trestles after that.
Absolutely perfect - love the style, the confidence and always love a grab rail forehand cutty. More please.
Great clip! Love how hard he surfs off the back foot.
The body build and stance are so like Occy's, and his surfing is so smooth and powerful, he and J Bay get on really well.
He has a beautiful style of the ilk of Fanning or Parko, should only be a matter of time before his name is on the trophy.
Start your children off on single fins + points folks, and they too will have a style like this. That projection into the highline: functional and beautiful & you know where it comes from.
Great clip. He's definately been a breath of fresh air on tour this year or a spanner in the works for some! Awesome style.
Great power but what caught me was the subtle adjustments of the back foot. Young fella's gotta have some Aussie lineage in the family!!! And the wave is damn fine also.
Excellent footage. After that clip and watching just about every wave of the 2017 comp I have to revisit Cape St Francis Bay area in 2018. Haven't been there since 1975
