A Day in the Desert - video
From far southern WA to the dry north-west, Mike Riley trails Kerby Brown in search of some heave. They find it north of Carnarvon with Mike shooting from the water - by far the best angle here - and Kerby, brother Cortney, Jake Perkins, and Luke Wyllie dropping in late and negotiating the steps.
And kudos to Mike in choice of soundtrack: 'A Thousand Miles' by Diplomat with Swellnet overlord Ben Matson on drums.

The slo-mo is a bit tedious but it sure does highlight those beautiful waves.
Love the meaty take-off by the back hander- stuck it. Yew!
Love that wave. I've never seen footage as nuts as they surfed it in the billabong challenge back in the day. Wondering whether it was a super-low tide for that event or whether it often ledges up like that on low. We had a big swell when we were there in 09 but it barely had a step forming at Tombies. I think that was on a high tide from memory.
Not low tide, that be a mistake to try ..
Loved it.
Top vid. Hypnotic perfection but heavier (scarier) than it looks.
Cool song too, top job on the drums Ben. Simple and seamless and love the 4/4, 3/4 mix up. Keeps it interesting.
OMG, that recovery just before 4.00. I bet he had a bit of adrenaline running after that. Nice waves, but scary. Out of my league.
Yeah the one leg tube ride is freaky .
He does practice high level tube riding techniques often so that wouldn't have been the first time for Filter
