"Yesterday was a little too radical," said Albee Layer about this dice roll session on Maui. "Still, so much fun to try with my crazy ass friends."

Albee was joined by Billy Kemper and Francisco Porcella who was caught inside horribly during the session. See 0:40

Of Albee's last wave he said, "It may of been the scariest paddle wave of my life. Jaws included."

Billy Kemper, meanwhile, was more definitive. "That was damm well the scariest surf session of my life!"

Which all adds a bit o' perspective to the session.

You want more perspective? Elliot Leboe took these from down at sea level.

Hard to gauge the exact size of this, but it looks a bit like Luna Park.... which no-name boogers charge at a similar size on a regular basis.

Are you really comparing gut sliding into a wave with paddling and getting a stand up pit??
The skill level required to paddle in and stand up is far beyond gut sliding it's not even in the same ball park.

Ease up joesydney. He just said it looks like Luna Park and added the detail that they ride it big and regularly. He wasn't putting surfers down. I'm fairly bodyboarding tolerant after seeing what they can do in Cronulla and on the South Coast.

Personally I think that was the craziest, heaviest, deep-water tube I have ever seen and I do NOT want to surf it on a day like that or get caught inside there!

Didn't that guy have a good nudge at 1:14!?!?

I've scoured most of that north Maui coast and I gotta say some of those rare big wave slabs are the most remote, dangerous, fear-inducing set ups ever. Props to anyone who would even paddle out. Billie, not so much deep water, they smash right on headlands as jagged as broken glass and eat boards and surfers like they were iced vo-vos.
