Jimmy Barnes tunes up for the Maldives

16948_636177333865558825_800_533.jpgSo here we are on Australia Day, and what could be more Aussie than listening to a Scottish-born singer on the shores of a Maldivian island? C'mon, we're all mongrels here - 'cept for the bruddas, more power to them - and anyway the songs that'll be played are quintessentially Australian.

Flame Trees?

Working Class Man?

Khe Sanh?

Yep, it's Jimmy Barnes and in September he'll be the latest in the Surf Music in Paradise (SMIP) roster. Put together by The Perfect Wave, SMIP fuses a love of the ocean and music in one unique offering.

Spend the day surfing some of the best breaks in the Maldives, and as the sun sets Jimmy will perform live and beachside with the crashing waves as percussion. The intimate gigs ensure that guests enjoy direct interaction with the performers, and a front row experience

Jimmy and his family band will perform three intimate and exclusive gigs as part of the Surf Music in Paradise series, escaping Australia’s late winter/early spring chills for the tropical warmth of the Maldives.

The unique performances will be held at the picturesque Kandooma Resort in the Maldives.

I saw Barnsey at a work Christmas do at Karratha one year.

There was free piss and pizza - and plenty of it !

Some people got a bit crook. Maybe it was the pizza ?

Although some were quick to point the finger, I'm pretty sure it wasn't Barnsey's fault.

I had fun.
