Mastering Pipeline - video
Pipeline shined...shone...sparkled late last week when a long awaited west swell struck the North Shore. For two days Pipe and Backdoor were at their season best with a young cadre of surfers showing how Pipeline should be ridden. It was good to see Russell Bierke - who opens this clip - join the fray, the young barbarian assuming a seat at the King's table.

Shined? Surely you meant "shone" Stu?
Ha ha ha...I was waiting for this comment. Just didn't know who was gonna post it.
No SS, I mean 'shined', however I did refer to Grammar Girl and a few other grammar sites before typing it because I wasn't confident. The consensus was that it can be either shined or shone (with many clauses and sub-clauses as is the way of the Grammarphile).
Like you, 'shined' doesn't sound right to my ears, however there's a rhythm with 'Pipeline' that 'shone' lacks, and if the boffins say it's acceptable then it's in.
You're checking the grammar sites, aren't you?
I don't need to Stu. I just rely on my own blinkered assumption that I know better than nearly everyone else.
Those grammar sites are sometimes full of shit Stu. Many of them are USA based, and therefore bordering on illiterate. Some of them will tell you that agreeance is a word. Harrumph!
:-)
I would have gone with shone.
Thanks for the backup bat-fellow.
"Many of them are USA based, and therefore bordering on illiterate" - hahaha!
Don't worry batfink, you'll become acclimated, you young barabrian!
Thanks Andy. We are all barabrian's!
Good clip. Some of the spits would knock a car over.
Barabrian? What..? Oh...
Take a look now you bastards. You're all redundant.
Bless...
You've been busted Stu. :-)
Pedants, the lot of you!
Haha, nice edit Stu.
Sparkled! I did notice someone doing jazz hands as they exited the barrel, so 'sparkled' is apt.
Great clip...just not sure rap music goes with barrel riding?
