Pumping waves at the Komune Bali Pro presented by The Mad Hueys

Keramas, Bali/Indonesia (Sunday, May 3, 2015) - The swell pumped at Keramas today as the high seeds entered the water on day two at the World Surf League QS1000 Rated Komune Bali Pro presented by The Mad Hueys.

Consistent waves around 5-feet allowing good barrel rides along with full power turns favoured the experienced surfers and none more so than number one seed Taj Burrow who simply had fun in his high scoring Round 2 and Round 3 heat wins scoring multiple high 8 and 9 point rides.

“Such a great wave on these types of swells, there’s barrels, speed and carve sections and it’s simply great to surf the wave with only a few others in the water” said Burrow.

Fellow West Australian surfer Jay Davies was another standout sending buckets of spray on all his moves as he advanced to the final 16.

Local surfers were prominent lead by Marlon Gerber who is through to the final 16 along with Made Darmayasa and  Komang Promata who is a Keramas local lad.

Mad Hueys team rider Nick Vasicek (AUS) lead a strong goofy foot charge to advance. Dean Bowen (AUS) and  Dimitre Ouvre (French Carribean) followed Vasicek's lead to also impressively advance and their backhand.

Notable mentions go to young  teenager Sheldon Simkus (AUS) who lead for much of his heat against Taj Burrow and advanced with a strong 2nd place and Stuart Campbell from Great Britain who also advanced in 2nd place to the final 16. Ethan Ewing is another young Australian to continue the charge and will line up tomorrow morning in the final 16.

Just 11 heats remain to be run and with great conditions forecast for an early start tomorrow morning a champion is expected to be crowned before mid day and on the ideal high tide.

This year marks the second annual Komune Bali Pro which is dual sanctioned by the World Surf League and holds a Qualifying Series QS,1000 rating and is also sanctioned by the Asian Surfing Championship Tour event.

The Mad Hueys, are just another big yawn start up "surf" company having a crack at Rip Curl and Quickie, trying to play the "anti-establishment bad boy" card.
Oooooh, they are so bad and cool. Not. It's basically a bunch of people slapping a logo on very generic sweatshop products, and trying to become the "in" brand by pumping out fluff like this.
Apart from some obscenely expensive surf shirts they sell no surf gear. Caps, tees and hoodies. Could be a "gang" company with that product range. Wallets and laptop bags are next!
this marketing shite is about as cynical as Christian music, but then again there's thousands of happy clappers buying CDs and DVD filling the coffers of corporate mega churches.
There's no shortage of idiots in Australia, so maybe this "surf" company will do OK.

Yocal. The MAd Hueys are just a bunch of no talent surf industry bottom feeders whose stock in trade is boorish and sexist behaviour.
Look at the clip. I'm tipping the girls in it wouldn't be too happy with the pervert behind the lens or the company for putting the stuff on the internet.
And as for the board puncher, what a tosser. Smashing up a brand new board in front of kids who are riding beaten up off casts from travelling surfers. Wanker is too nice a description.
And then there's the whiner who complained about his bad positioning in the Keramas lineup. FFS, cry me a river dude. It's Keramas, it's not farken rocket science. What next, are you going to struggle finding the take off spot at Bingin?
Third rate surfing, D grade filming and editing, all in the name of selling a 45 cent hat (marked up to $45) to a complete plonker who can't think for himself.
