Well that was disappointing. They tried hard but the better team on the night won. Still a great effort by the team. Did themselves proud.
That was painful to watch. Happy we got to the semis, these last 2 games showed how far we are from elite level football.

But the Matildas did really well. A 'watershed moment' for women's sport in Australia. About time they started getting some proper funding and facilities.

The Matildas played with verve and commitment but at this level you need more than just one world class player. Plenty of positives with many young players coming through and great that they were able to galvanise the nation behind them.

It's been great following the Matildas through the tournament, well done, significant national sporting achievement and really good to watch! Love watching Australia being an underdog and going on to great things - like watching our cricket team in the 80's or Michael Bevan's last over victory effort. I saw that a Brisbane administrator apologised to fanbase for the final not being played there due to the city not having a 2nd rectangular stadium that can cater for 20k plus.Past final games have sold out Suncorp(both wins,ALeague and NSL), so this would have drawn well IF roar were first out of the hat.
As it is,FC can draw on their fanbase to create an atmosphere, 20-30K I'm guessing.Its on free to air TEN network,cold beers at home for lots.

A game of 2 halves Roar were dominant in the first half.Ross Aloisi has come in and changed them.They look good but played without their most impressive player(injured)

Cockheadica put a rocket up FC at halftime and they blasted Roar into orbit for 3 second half goals.

The Roar squad look reasonable but could do with a couple more classy player,FC on the other hand carry on from the strong 2nd half of last season.A treble could come their way, the squad has a nice blend of youth and experience.The 2 new Brazzos certainly add the X factor.(last night were their first games) and both showed enough quality to be regarded as star quality.
Two weeks till the season starting,I'm looking at FC as much stronger than last year with Adelaide,WSW,City,Nix,CCM not quite as good.Roar could easily force a top 6 spot and the WesternUnited look stronger as well.The rest look like treading water but Staj over West may surprise.
