It's like that saying that's been going around.
"In every partnership, there is a person who stacks the dishwasher like a Scandinavian architect and a person who stacks the dishwasher like a racoon on meth."
My middle name is Sven.
Haha, I wish everyone else here at home was called Sven,
I’ve been banned from stacking the dishwasher lol ;)
Caught not rinsing too many times :)
If you have to rinse before putting in the dishwasher, you may as well wash up. Complete waste of water, especially if you are on rain water tanks.
Wait until it doesn’t drain and floods the kitchen and you have to rip the carrot cake apart to find out why? Only to realise it was you! Who stacked it. Hungover!! Too couldn’t care!! Crushed macadamias the culprit. From the fancy arsed meal you prepared the night before. You’re an idiot and love hate macadamias
My wife bought a small dishwasher to sit on the bench.
Never stacked it once- too scared.
I just wash the dishes that are in the sink.
Me too. Just wash up. Saves water and energy.

Ended up buying a Rip curl fbomb Fusion 4/3. The thing is fucking useless. Sure, the seems don't leak as advertised but the NECK DOES! Every duck dive gets a dribble of water straight down the back. Violent wipeout or a duck dive into white water = a huge flush through. The neck has a tight fitting feel, to the point in the shop it felt like no way i could size down. The issue seems to be its made of 2 pieces, inner and outer. They aren't bonded so it kind of rolls down slightly which makes a lip that scoops water. Shit design! I haven't had a suit flush like this since the wetsuit stone age. Even the Need 4/3 I'm getting rid of because it's too big didn't flush! Have seen a few other reviews say the same thing. Going to go past Rip Curl tomorrow and ask about it. Anyone had similar problems?
Guessing rip curl will say it's my problem. If they recommend a size down (bought XL, some brands i'm LT but not in RC chart) I'm not sure its worth a gamble with the same neck design.
Where to from here?

Ron. Hi mate. No good, troubles all round.
If you can afford it, spend the dough on a quality suit, no regrets. You get what you pay for.
I moved up to a R3 Patagonia 4.5mm ( upper body) and 3.5mm (legs) due to the cold, from a R2 Patagonia 3.5mm -3.0mm respectively.
I’ve surfed for two weeks now in the R3, warmest most flexible suit I’ve ever worn, no flushing either.
These suits have a dry fleece layer from neck to your knees, you don’t feel internally wet at any stage.
I’m a bag of bones and almost 60years old, yesterday, clocked up 4 hours and only got out because I was hungry. I wear gloves also, once your hands go you’re fucked, catalytic effect after that.
Pros of wearing gloves, keeps hands warm way longer. Increase web effect like a ducks foot, enhanced surface area for paddling power.
When your hands are frozen, your fingers spread apart and as you paddle you get nowhere because water is passing between the fingers as you attempt to paddle with power.
Just my opinion. AW
Axxe wetsuits. Custom fitted. If in Victoria, go into south coast surfboards, Ian Chisholm will size you up. Looking at about 900$ for a 5mm hooded suit. Life of suit- 5 yrs plus if looked after. 3 yrs if you don’t. No brained and there is no better suits out there.

This suit was the same price as Patagonia! I've had them before but found they were too stiff. Haven't fondled one recently. Might check them out if i have no luck sorting this one out.
@AW Hi Alfred. The Patagonia store in Geelong has finally moved down the street (they had council / zoning / parking problems apparently). They have a special on last seasons wetties, so I went to check them out. R3 steamer was so tight and stiff it was basically unwearable. I'm not surfing much at the moment, so I reckon I'll gut it out with my current wetty, short surfs and 1mm vest. Have you compared your R3 from this year to last year's model? Cheers.

Icandig. Hi mate., hope you’re well. Yes, the new seconds store is in Corio Place, Geelong.
The new iteration of this years suits are wonderful.
I’ve been in the new R3 Patagonia 4.5mm upper body down to knees, 3.5mm lower for two weeks now.
It’s the warmest and most flexible suit I’ve ever worn.
Coupled with an internal black fleece layer from neck to knees, your skin is not in contact with rubber that has its external wall in contact with the water.
It’s clearly a well thought out thermal break.
I mentioned yesterday on another topic, someone was having Rip Curl suit problems with flushing through the neck.
I’m almost 60 years old, a bag of bones, I generally feel the cold before anyone.
I surfed 4 solid hours Saturday in some very nice waves. Not cold at all, only got out because I was hungry. No water flush throughs at all.
Suits are not cheap, but I believe you get what you pay for.
A revelation , I bought a wetsuit beanie, can’t stand hoods over my ears, affects my balance. You lose 80-85% of your body heat out through your head, it makes sense. All the best. AW

Had a look at the R3 in torquay yesterday, It felt stiff to me on the rack too. Also The newest one doesnt have the liquid outer seam sealer. What was the price on the R3 in Geelong? I'm having no luck finding LT in anything but Rip Curl at the moment. RC too small in LT but XL too big. Cant win! Xcel LT fits but no one has stock. Oneill looks ok on the chart but same problem.
@ron - I can't recall the exact price, but it was 60% off whatever the normal retail price is. I was told the only difference was the seams - new ones are flat stitched - one reason given was to make repair easier - but that was by a young salesman, so not sure if that is accurate. I don't know if the rubber is the same. I actually tried one on instore. Very hard to get into - needed help to disrobe.

Hi guys.
I can’t believe you think the rubber is stiff. They are brand new suits.
Grab the rubber, pull it, stretch, it’s very flexible.
The suits are easy to get into and out of.
What’s going on at your end ? I don’t understand
Looks like tailor made suits or Isurus are your last option. Both these solutions are even more expensive.
Hope you find what works for you both.
My experiences with this new rubber at R1Lite, R1, R2. R3 level are great. Couldn’t be more happier with this range of suits and new rubber. AW

I tried last seasons suit. Different rubber? I'll pop into the Torquay store and try the new season suit and report back.
Try feral wetsuits. Good.

I guess it's all relative in terms of stretch. Not to say the Patagonia isn't useable but going from store to store touching Rip curl, Oneill, Xcel, Vissla, Billabong, the Patagonia is noticeably stiffer and less stretchy on the rack.
Will try and see if the geelong store has my size on sale. Will try anything at this stage.

went in to Rip Curl in Torquay. Tried on an LT which was so tight i was worried about tearing it. Got it on but gut feel was its pushing the limits and wouldn't last long as a result. Guess i'm just right in between sizes in RC suits.
The guy there was helpful and said an option is to have a different neck put on but decided against that as i don't want to end up with something i can't sell.
While there i noticed they are using the double layer neck on everything now.
End result is i'm seeing out the winter with it and will then sell ASAP.

Ron. Evening, hope ya well.
Good decision. I’ve only just heard a few complaints about your aforementioned suit.
Waiting between sets, I often get asked about my wetsuit, next thing there’s like a forum between lulls.
It’s so enlightening these days to sit amongst others with a good vibe, discussion, hooting each other etc.
I’ve not seen aggro for years. AW
Been wearing a point 5 ml short sleeve top, and boardies , up here. All the fit young blokes are wearing full length wetsuits lol

It’s a wetsuit, why would that even enter your head when deciding on one?
Cant say I’ve ever once in 25 years had re-sale factor in my mind when buying a wetsuit.
I wear mine until they’re useless then get another one.

As i said above, Rip curl offered to put a smaller neck on my XL suit to stop it flushing. If that doesn't work or it ends up too too tight what am i going to do? Throw an $850 suit in the bin? Selling an XL with small neck would be hard... Instead, i'm going to re sell it asap as its still basically new and get something else.

Good luck with it all.
For anyone contemplating Patagonia in the future - and for @AW - did you notice a 'breaking in' of the wetsuit after a few wears? This goes on a bit long and smells like an ad rather than a review, but informative nonetheless.

Icandig. Hi mate.
Coincidentally you ask this question, because, it was only on the weekend I suited up in my R3 the thick Winter steamer , a new suit, I’ve got two.
One was drying in the shade at home and I wore the other one for the first time.
It was definitely a little, not much, but more difficult to get into.
The one I’ve been wearing all Winter is the goods now, easy in and out and very flexible.
Stick with them if you’ve got them , they are very worthy suits in my opinion.
Don’t be deterred by the stiffness when trying them on, it’s abates after regular use.
They are so warm with that black fleece layer. I love it.
This iteration of the new Yulex, chest zip, fleece lined, keeps me in the water way longer than any suit I’ve ever owned and I’m approaching 60 years of age.
Get one I say. AW

Thanks AW. Yeah. I was sold until I tried one on a few weeks back...admittedly last seasons though. I've only had a handful of surfs in the last couple of months for various reasons (one of them being the surf), so glad I didn't fork out this winter. I'll probably grab one out of season later this year. I'm encouraged by the 'wear in' factor as mentioned in the video and yourself. Cheers.

So its that time of the year again where the mornings are getting fresher and the offshores are starting to show. It looks like its been a couple of years since there was a discussion about it so I am looking for wetsuit recommendations.....
Whats everyone wearing/buying or not wearing/buying and why?
