goofyfoot. Hi mate. I was referring to the dude dunking himself in the frigid waters, it just felt like, oh yeah, there’s no surf, so we will just make up something so we can advertise more Red Bull. Yeah, I like watching surfing, anything but WSL crap, which reminds me is doing a very good job of impersonating the old days of the ASP, going out in any dribble. I enjoy surfers who surf, not surfers who advertise products and then surf, alas, its the AMERICAN way, money over morals. Example. Love Nick von Rupp’s surfing but he’s become a clothes hangar for every known product to the surf industry, its probably just me but i get a bad taste in my mouth about it all. Just my OPINION.

Waaaaaaay more channel at Ppass and defined take off. Easy to dodge rogue ones at 6ft+ by scratching 20m to the channel. CB is a very special wave in a league of its own. Does it need to have an equivalent right? Do chopes, GLand and Pipe have equivalent rights?

It’s easy to watch crew like Dorian’s kid and assume that he’ll just walk into a world title one day, then you remember the way some unheralded surfers just click when they hit mid to late teens and eclipse those around them irrespective of how highly fancied they may be.

I surfed rainbow through to cooly yesterday, some great waves and not too crowded, getting out was fcked and didn’t get a gap until wide off greenmount, one really nice barrel down Coolangatta end on a set wave and got absolutely flogged at the end .

Some trivia:
Occy won it, and he should've taken home the largest payout in surf history, but instead he lost money.
Before the end, the contestants were having such a fun time they agreed to split the winnings irrespective of who won. Occy won, so he got just under US $11K (of the US $65K), while the Oz dollar was about 50% at the time so that converted to about AUS $5.5K, which was less than the tax he had to pay on the winnings.

Was wondering the same. Perhaps he didn't string whole waves and sessions together? Prob have to understand the judging criteria (the comp went for two weeks) to understand the decision.
