Trump’s rhetoric is a minor irritation, as are the ineptly applied tariffs / sanctions etc. They’re having no meaningful Economic impact. On balance China stands to benefit more from the chaos and uncertainty around Trump’s approach to foreign policy. The undermining of multilateral institutions, trashing of bilateral arrangements and introduction of serious doubts about the US’s reliability as a security partner is a far more attractive proposition for China than the alternative.
Ultimately the undermining of US (and Western more generally) democratic institutions is the objective, both in a real and perceived sense, China and Russia’s objectives are aligned in this sense, although their approaches and sophistication differ.
Russia learned a lot from 2016. So did the US. The GOP led Senate committee findings acknowledged that these occurred.
For Trump and large swathes of the GOP there’s a deeply unsettling element to acknowledging the impact of the Russian activities in 2016; it invalidates the sense of a ‘clean’ win.

You are right about the Iran deal being focussed on preventing the development of nukes. But come 2025 the limits on Iranian centrifuges expires and by 2030 it is open season on enriching uranium for the nukes they already know how to build. It’s a bad deal. I liken it to paying ransom. What happens when you stop paying the ransom? Based on Iran’s form in the earlier 2000s, they start developing nukes. Iran has been ideologically opposed to America since the 1978 revolution.

A lot of it comes down to experience and methodology. Russia has been doing it for longer in an international sense, and is far more adept at use of automation and amplification. China’s approach in this realm has historically been largely focused on their domestic security operations, and internationally has been predominantly focused on Chinese diaspora. They’re very good at economic espionage (stealing IP), less so at influence. That’s not to say that this isn’t changing. The scale you mention is concerning.
With reference to Iran. It’s an autocratic, totalitarian theocracy, with historical and contemporary designs on regional hegemony. US foreign policy in the region (Rep and Dem) over the past 20 years has done far more for Iran in setting conditions for achievement of their goals than anything else. They’ve effectively got their ‘Shia crescent’ across northern Iraq and access to the Mediterranean. They’ve got a far more compliant Iraqi government. They’ve got a far more credible counter-Israeli proxy in Hezbollah. They’ve got a Syrian regime that is effectively in debt to them.
I don’t see how Trumps unilateral approach to withdrawal from the JPCOA, acknowledging its faults, is a better outcome than remaining within it while developing an alternative. Perhaps you can? What it effectively did was neuter the enforcement mechanisms (SnapBack sanctions et al) as well as serving as a deterrent to other nations that no deal with the US was worth the paper it was written on.
