Did they have the screen up for Falco's ears?
Yep, AND he was wearing ear muffs over his in-ear monitors too. He didn't explain why though.
Looked weird at first (I thought it was to keep 'em from falling out?), but then it strangely just seemed to be normal, relative to the on stage antics.
Deafcult opened for 'em, they were great too.
Great lineup. Love Deafcult, was in Bris at the time when they released Auras.
Mclusky were supposed to come out this time last year...i was all set to hit Bris when they had to cancel.
Falco got knocked over by tinnitus and hyperacusis big time.
Great explanation here, didn't damage his wit!

GreenJam wrote:...and that's also possibly a shame Rooney - but maybe you could still get to see them. They're playing a heap of Vicco gigs over the coming weeks. Make the effort man, it's a guaranteed memorable one
Yeah, the rock gods weren't smiling my way unfortunately GJ.
Have seen them a few times, and FOTL.
This was a great gig [FOTL] at a mates shop in the Valley, a small room in the middle of summer on a saturday arvo i think, followed by the Zoo. You used to shed kgs by going to gigs, even more if ya played ém!
boogie woogie
Big fan of Velvet Underground. Big fan of this bands cover too.

&pp=ygUTaWdneSBwb3Agam9zaCBob21tZQ%3D%3DI don't take my own advice .
Have always told others "look after the pebbles , the boulders will look after themselves " . " To enjoy the journey and the destination " .
I spoke to someone today who gave me a wonderful little pebble to play with , which showed me , I needed to do the Opposite of what I thought , again .
I was worried about boulders ( my body ) and focusing on a destination ( Hawaii ) .
I said I was having trouble , popping up .
He suggested something I thought strange , but was willing to try ( like peeling mushrooms ) .
Try the opposite .
Breath , and imagine , Popping Up in reverse ie Popping Down .
Shit , I tried it .
Got down ( slowly ) AND , automatically , wanted to Pop Up again .
So bloody simple and I would never have thought to THINK that .
So , I'm off to play with my new pebble .
Popping Down .
edit
I thought I was posting on the War thread .
Ok, my post can be a Looney TUNE , perhaps .
Good :)
I hate WAR .
edit
They posted Walk on the Wild Side and I walked Off track ( thread ) , again .
Easy , for me.
Iggy doin some qigong in this one @vj ;);)

Gotta admit that i'm not the biggest Waits fan, but fk, i love this song!
cheers again for the mclusky alert @R00ney, we had a good time at the Adelaide gig, lotsa-familiar-faces type crowd, though not mclusky's best.. they had to contend with sweltering heat (which they hated), scattering of pissed idiots who think yelling random shit is good banter (which Falco tersely tolerated), and appalling sound (stopped a song 3 times, then abandoned it, cos the bass frequency was undiscernible).
Hope they had a much better time up the east coast!
Sounds like fun was had. Dinosaur Junior tix on sale next week for those interested.

Cosmic Psychos with the grom Australia Day weekend for me.
thermalben wrote:How's the Tent Pole lineup! Dinosaur Jr, Mogwai and Calexico. Jeez, wish I could head down for it.
Don’t need to service some cameras down that way that weekend?
Yes, a good lineup. Plenty of side gigs around the place for the bigger names. Calexico have been on my to do list a long time.
I’ve got a few mates coming across from Adelaide for Tentpole. Huge lineup.
Disappointed that QOTSA and Mogwai are both playing on the Monday after.
QOTSA also playing Torquay day after Tentpole.

Off the Charts Tasmanian New Wave B-Side Instrumentals
Outta curiosity tbb trawled thru back catalogues just to prove a point.
tbb lived thru New Wave era & thought he'd heard the best from the best.
Point of this retrospect folly is to humbly prove oneself wrong!
Stoked to share these under the radar Tassie flipside gems.
Exactly! tbb knew enough to know New Wave Bands often hide their best on the B-Sides!
Also know B-Side Flexi Disc tracks were dedicated to core fans...never find them on LPs.
tbb has a Cure > Brizzo B-side Coloured single worth a cool mint...
Instrumental (Another Journey by Train) > re: Stranglers 'Love 30'
Give those shifty B-Sides a spin for starters...we got a similar sweet deal goin' on downunder!
All change again!
Crew will know both of these rare 'charting' Tassie bands but yer in for a real surprise treat.
These instrumentals stray a long way from both bands Countdown Chart sound.
Instantly sounds way Cooler...
Ok! We're gonna camp on that track...Like! Who's that again? Wow! Sounds Great!
Ask! So why don't they do more like that...all know why! Gain Cred but never make any money!
Happy to share the rare Flipside of Tassie New Wave...reimagining the Thylacine Scene!

haha, great theme, great posts -
coupla 90s johnny tracks that sum up pop-rock's 7-year descent from drinking-scene into substance-scene
truth is better than fiction for lyric writing, definitely woulda been a 'Johnny' in this track, if it wasn't written about real-life.
(it also would have been less celebratory. It's a 12-bar, sorry ; )
I’m sure I’ve heard another version of that Basesix. Enjoyable but a bit grim. Like this….
Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.
Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.
