Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.

Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.

Good podcast that one i listen to it regularly and listened to that episode, i know an older guy that is fully into the whole high end vintage turntable thing, his set up is crazy and worth tens of thousands of dollars, sounds amazing especially once warmed up but the prices of some these turn tables for what they are is crazy.

(2nd best song editing in Northern Exposure, this song, lining up with Holling Vincoeur strutting around the pub 'looking for a fight' while he was in synch with the moose rutting season. Didn't make it to the dvd version unfortunately, I assume for copyright reasons)

(1st best song moment in Northern Exposure, in the Spring Break ep, when the town goes insane before the big ice-melt/snap, played during the naked street run.. I always assumed it was a Perry Farrell thing till I found it just now : /
Don't know what made me think of these two songs.. maybe it was another thread..)

(nice one JF)
is this the Morricone @pops? (you'll need to click on 'watch on youtube'):

I enjoy the pastoral stuff, Vaughan Williams, Elgar, et al, and the borderline twee, like John Rutter. But I do prefer a dark, mysterious edge like William Byrd, Arvo Part, John Taverner or this Vaughan Williams, based on an early theme by Thomas Tallis:

..
oh, seeds is on it!

basesix's picture

connect. how sweet we get to hope for a gentle passing for those we love, and for ourselves, where we have small regrets and lived a full life. none of that calm hope for some humans in the world. probably the best version of Parting Glass for here is:

but for all the ed sheeran, high kings, etc versions, the wailin jennys get my vote. but then I was raised by a wise, gentle woman. and she sang to me.

Went to the launch of Screamfeeder's docco on Friday night "The Ending Goes Forever".

It was unreal.. followed the story of the band from their beginnings in Townsville, but also documented the Brisbane 90's scene really well - could easily have been a snapshot from Adelaide, Hobart, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne... anywhere at that point in time. Def recommend checking it out.

Been getting into these guys recently, they're an obvious tip of the hat to Fela Kuti, which is a really good start in my books.
Tight band playing the afrobeat funk thing.
Song kicks in around 3.10.

I find it so rare to find a new young band i dig, but i dont mind these guys, obviously very 90s influence's, think Veruca salt, Breeders Smashing Pumpkins, a nod to Sonic youth, Pavement, Modest Mouse.

Was a good era Indo.
Some damn good names you've thrown up there.
Still reckon our own home grown legends trumped all of them though.
Def FX.
How good is Fiona Horne. What a voice and one hell of a presence.
Still haven't heard a band quite like them before.
