Curious what you're looking at, cycd. I would like to give a Pyzel Padillac a go, but really I'd like a 7'8 or so DS - a little wider, a little thinner, and with a lighter glass job. A cruisier old-man DS :-)

sick get some bombs on that troy, ooo wee 666
and the 77 looks mint too.
keen to see the 7"7 six fin !

Not sure if I've come into this late, but are you planning on riding it with the six fins or is that just to allow different set ups?
Six small quad rears according to Webby. See comments section:

Hi island,
Im looking at some deep concave step ups and guns. I bit of a gamble as i love the DS. If they sell for the right price (both are in mint cond) ill look at changing them out.
Best of luck, mate. And keep us up to date.

yes stunet, i would never get extra boxes in my boards that wont be used! - i dont ride thrusters either. normally i ride quads , but this 6 fin design is
my first attempt with 6 . its taken about 8 years since i first started talking it up, almost a decade ago i spoke with tom hoye about 6 fin setup positions, toms 5 fin claw works positively , so this is "the quad version of the claw" the front 4 fins are similar to the claw positions with the rear two fins like a quad setup. the problem so far with it is that the future boxes are so long that they cause overlap, it might he better to use a shorter, smaller fin box plug. because the fins i want to use are small and not even full length of the fin box, theres a fair bit of waste. could be more efficient , anyone got a suggestion for a different fin box brand ?
(better flex in the tail)

Phoah. Read this thread/conversation twice and want one for medium large sweepy points ...If there are any 6'8 DS out there looking for a new home please send em my way. From the sounds of it they still turn quite well, could one go longer than one thinks?
An older one....6'10"
its had a few price drops since its first listing

Thanks you Udo. I've been looking long and hard at this one. It's partly why I asked of turnability. I have a 7'6 Twig for BIG(for me) days and love it so need to fill up after my 6'4. On the 6'4 I drift away after 4 waves (exaclty like Freeride's comment re indo blades haha). The 7'6 needs a big canvass. Middle ground is a board that can handle sweep but still figure 8 on 5foot and up days. Could this be the one?
Have you contacted Webby to see how much a new one is? His prices are very reasonable, and it looks like he's fully stocked.

Hi Island. Yip I filled out his form last night to hear. The gumtree 6'10 is quite old and non negotiabley $500 so though may as well get exactly what I want
Good luck!
couldn't reach the latest comment, by posting a comment I have. had to manually click thru all these pages to get to page 16 but unable to reach latest comment. something wrong with my device though

yes good fins udo , they maybe the perfect sort of fin for me. the fin boxes are still longer than the fin though. what I'm thinking of is a box that is shorter than the fin base. old fcs1 is one such plug , I'm a bit out of the loop having been a futurefins rider for 25 years.
Cut a FCS Fusion box in half ...Round off the cut to same as top curve - gives you 2 strong plugs,

udo those vector fins look great. compatible with a single plug fcs - (1 tab)
do you mean cut the fusion box in halves and get 2 boxes out of single fusion box ? https://images.app.goo.gl/aCfJFrGskNb27vPd6

These are probably too large for the 6 fin set up but could be modified or possibly could have something made up as a special order

Yep - Theres a pic somewhere of it done..Stu may have posted it a whileback
I wonder if this is where the old speed fins boxes would've worked
6x 3 7/8" or 6x 4 1/4" or a combination of

they might be suitable thanks mate. i couldn't find a picture of the fin box on that site though. actually thought this brand had disappeared from the market years ago

the issue is that futures boxes are longer than the fin base, causing them to overlap when set up with 6 boxes. so we are discussing fin box options. I already have future fins for the board , they are all shallow future boxes made for the rear fins. not the deeper ones for the front fins...

Looks like I skimmed over that bit, my mistake.
OK flipid, no worries. that fin you suggested is similar to what I have got. that being rear quad fins, and some front fins with the bases modified to fit a shallow box.
Blowin have you had a go on the 6'3 DS yet ?
cycd - are you still thinking of selling those DSs? I’ll be in Margies tmrw for work, so if you’re selling I’d be keen to have a look.

Not sure if this is how to reply on here but the new Modii boxes from Sanded.com.au are shorter than futures, but not sure if they’re shorter or same length as base of the fin.. what about old school fcs style dual plug? Installed correctly they’re pretty strong and would change the flex in the tail the least.

Finally got the 8’6 out in proper size. Biggest I’ve surfed in ages, and clean.
Soooo stoked!
Nice one ib. Get a few?
Got 5 waves. One solid 10ft. Pretty much jumping out of my skin right now.
Haha, unreal. Can’t beat that feeling.
Not wrong, mate.

Has anyone got a first hand ride report using these?
If they do what it says on the packet I'd like a set....but they also don't have them as futures compatible.
I noticed no Futures ...but im sure they would have...contact Mitchell..
They are on an old price list so he has made them in Futures

Hmm maybe not - mention here [from 2019] of Futures being a custom order....
Futures and Switchblades
Finally got my 6’6 DS in the water today for the first time. Was meant to be fairly solid at the reefs but came in under. Still went really well in the size on offer (about 3-4ft with the odd bigger one). Then off to a bigger and heavier beachie and it went really well there. Very happy with it.
Paddles great, easy to duck dive, goes like a rocket and very responsive.
