No-one got anything to say about the loss of the car industry under a government and high viz Tony that promised to create 1,000,000 jobs?

Slumber away ........

Ylocal.. You referenced the problem as being global (??). Can't help there. 'Welfare' in Aus takes many forms. Sure we need welfare but all as is now ? Are you saying there are no rorts ? "Let's make sure the needy get help and not the rorters.
Hence let's get a budget where we can create jobs, confidence and it follows , better welfare for the needy.

Tony, again don't need your help, need your position, ie: 'yes' or 'no' on whether you think the increasing divide between the rich and poor is a problem.

You are avoiding this question and also a simple question from Floyd which is whether or not you believe in human impacted global warming. These questions are important for you to answer, because it identifies whether you have considered these overarching concerns in your opinions on things such as welfare or climate policy.

If you avoid these questions, anybody reading these forums could comfortably conclude that these fundamental issues aren't even taken into consideration by you when giving your opinion on developing or removing proposed remedies to a problem that Australia is vulnerable to.

You won't simply confirm if you believe these concepts are even an ethical issue for concern or not?

Terrible for your credibility Tony!

Credibility is not relevant but solutions are. Rich or poor - what's the measurement ?

Haha blatant effort to avoid the question. we are clearly discussing the spread of wealth.

I might hazard a guess and conclude that you are concerned that if you answer on the simple question about your position on the issue of the divide between rich and poor and also the cause of climate change, then you risk compromising all of your arguments on welfare and climate policy.

Truth is, if it makes you uneasy about being frank and publicly accepting/denying that they are major issues facing society, of course people are going to be uneasy about your underlying agenda on the policies relating to them.

Ylocal...stay focused man and you might see we were talking about the budget and how big it is or was. Sure there is debate on how to bring down the deficit and as we can some of the proposals are not popular - fair enough .
Rich and poor divide - again what is the measure ? What is a 'rich' person ? You have to measure this. Read the blog on INDO land.
Truthfully that is not easy question to answer hence how do you say it's getting wider ?

agree with you big time
but mate, science is not based on fact- thats why i laugh at this misperception. Your analysis of how scientist come to prove something is indeed the way it is done and we now know lots of things because of this.
But how can you explain the recent phenomenom where it is proven that a scientists observation/ belief systems influence the scientific result, time and time again. Does consciousness really effect matter- it appears it does. So I would say the science gives us a particular understanding, not always facts.
Your point about australia missing out on a huge sustainable worldwide renewable markets is spot on.

"Easy to ramble on about problems - hard to propose solutions."

What if "problems" aren't really problems at all? What if some problems are manufactured to gain a specific outcome? A specific solution?
6% unemployment... let's raise it to 10% to cover "hidden unemployment"...... That means in a glass half full world that 9 out of 10 able bodied people have work.... 90%..... 90% is a good mark in anyones book......
But if we manufacture a problem, let's say "full employment".... Then we can gain political traction over something that is not real, a furphy.... Full employment is a kumbaya pipedream... And if such a thing occurred, how could one open a new business if there is no one to employ? I suppose we'll need the "boat people" then..... We'll import workers.... Ohhh... hang on.... That's already happening.... Even though we have a "job shortage"..........
The whole thing is a freekn joke, but I'm not laughing.....

Will have to bow out if we're talking quantum physics Dave, that shit scares me haha! Only question I throw back at you is that how do you separate a fact from belief when fact is based on a combined consciousness of consent and understanding of the way things are... like science logic.

this 97% thing.

planes fall out of the sky for all sorts of reasons including mechanical failure.

but does any of us say (including climate change deniers) "no flying isn't 100% safe so we shouldn't fly"

of course we don't and neither should be question climate science when 97% of it says humans are impacting the climate (I agree with an earlier comment that 3% is still worth considering but that's not to say because it exists the 97% is disproved).

TonyB .... climate is on topic with Abbott cos where he has taken this country solely for political reasons. And on the budget deficit lets hear your view on all that tax haven stuff which finds parasites like Murdoch paying 1%. Ooops thats a direct question and we don't do them do we.

yocal, you have answered your own question!
fact/belief/consciousness/consent/understanding/logic- research the words and you will see, but eg for clarification, u say the understanding of the way things are- 99.9% of all cells are empty space. is this a fact or a belief or an understanding of the way things are?????? does your scientific logic allow you to know this when you look at your body- mate- your mostly just space- scientific fact- me, I'm just a wasted space. as for Tony Barber, a rich person is one who is happy to be himself/herself and treat others equally, a poor person is one who doesn't.

No Problem davetherave.

Most people are pissed off with their politicians regardless from what side they lean to - left or right or the middle. If you ask these people what is wrong with politics/politicians they will cite reasons like: lies; spin; inability to speak clearly; broken promises; not representing the electorate etc etc.

This anger comes from the expectation that politicians will listen to the electorate/voters and act in their best interests. Wrong.

In his book Supercapitalism (The Transformation of Business, Democracy and Everyday Life) Robert Reich reveals how our politicians' masters are not us voters but industry lobbyists.

If you think this is an bullshit just look at the way the Minerals Council of Australia (Australia's most powerful lobby group) put paid to the mining tax and has shaped Abbott's war on renewables in favour of coal.

E.G. http://www.smh.com.au/business/comment-and-analysis/minerals-council-sho...

What's the answer? Vote independent or don't be a welded on Liberal or Labor voter and make every electorate in the country a marginal seat. Its only then politicians will truly represent us poor punters that vote for them.

Thanks floyd, i was actually coaxed to Canberra to run as an independent/green emphasis and spent three weeks in the house and senate and meeting lobbyists- the true space cadets of what goes on. I declined all offers, some are still pissed at me. But I now work by myself, my research skills and my knowledge of local, state, and federal legislation means i can get things done. This is a quandary as i advocate all of us working together- unified- but the amount of meetings, bargains to gain consensus pisses me off. So I work alone, I know what I am doing and what i do is for the benefit of all now, and for the future but in a way that does not take away the quality of life we now haVE- OR SPANK ME, WHAT WE USED TO HAVE- was it better then or was it because the experience was so new and exhilirating? memories are gold, but new experiences are platinum.

Mate, ya gotta stop listening to Alan Jones, stop watching Tracy Grimforsure, don't read Andrew Bolt..... It's bullshit designed to rile up the purple rinse brigade whilst they count their shares and play bridge......
Fact - There are currently 11 638 400 people working in Australia.
Fact - There are currently 764 100 unemployed people..
Fact - of these unemployed people, 19.6% of the 764 100 are considered "long term unemployed" (having not worked for a period longer than 52 weeks)..... The rest of the 764 100 people have worked in the past year...
So, what is 19.6% of 764 100?...... 149 763....... Not even 150 000 people in a country of 24 000 000, with a workforce of nearly 11 650 000 ( round up for cash in hand workers)...... Mate, that's not even the population of Townsville..... So your comment "we have created generations of welfare dependant useless fucks " just doesn't stack up, mate..... Might sound great to self righteous baby boomers watching a Current Affair, but it aint real....

They (long term unemployed) cost the country about 1.7 billion p/a..... the cost of the paintjob on one of our new useless fighter planes.....
Now when we say "cost the country", one has to remember that the $450 per fortnight they are given gets spent at woollies, is given to landlords, spent at the corner shop, keeping the wheels of this country turning... Shit man, even if they are buying a foily of dope, that money probably goes to a hippy farmer who buys friggn lentils at the health food shop..... Some of them get more than 450, but some (eg - those who have declare partners income) get less... So 450 is a good number... And btw, in the USA, which has no welfare after six months unemployment, there long term unemployment rate is over double that of Australia's..... Think about it.....

When economic crisis arises, there comes foreclosure, recession, bankruptcy and rising unemployment rate. We find that personal joblessness experience translates into negative opinions about the effectiveness of democracy and it increases the desire for a rogue leader. Evidence from people who live in European countries suggests that being jobless for more than a year is the source of discontent. We also find that well-educated and wealthier individuals are less likely to indicate that democracies are ineffective, regardless of joblessness. Learn more at https://personalmoneynetwork.com/.

Toddy? Just like helping people on here. Free. For lots of other people too, ie Pasquale, among hundreds of others. When I charge for training, I always declare it. Hard to believe a surfer would do that eh?

No worries welly.

Yorked, in those often moments, special moments, deep, moving moments, when you are thinking of me, just think of me as the big guy. The big humble, good looking, rawboned guy. This guy.

'Let this serve as certifications for the work ethic and moral character of Michael Bourne for the purpose of employment or any other purpose as necessary.
My name is Jennifer Van Ryckeghem a Canadian national. I live in Philippines together with my husband of 10 years and two kids. I started a non-profit organization in 2001 and have been over seeing projects on site ever since.
I have a very busy schedule and never had found a way to incorporate exercise into my daily life. I had heard of Mike’s personal training background and observed his positive effects in the local community where he visited. Michael developed a system similar to TRX training. The local surfer groups are now exercising more diligently focusing on core strength in order to better the way they surf. Michael models what he teaches and I believe because we could see how he chose to eat healthy and exercise it encouraged other men and women to make more effort in their own self-exercise.
I personally took advantage of Mike’s personal training services 2 – 3 times a week because I saw his positive influence in the municipality where I live. He adapted a routine that was easy enough for me to do by myself yet providing a small challenge to increase strength everyday. As I maintained routine in my exercise Mike had the experience to help me each step of the way informing me how my body would respond as I worked a little harder in my programme. It was obvious Mike was passionate about health but also had experience in dietary concerns because he was also able to help me focus on eating better food to achieve the results I wanted.
I am so thankful that Michael Bourne made the time for me to render his services. I would recommend him to anyone serious about getting back into shape. I would also suggest hiring him to help you truly achieve your fitness dreams if you notice a plateau in your weight loss.

Feel free to email me with any questions.'

I know its enough to make you chuck yorked, but, I've honestly got hundreds of the fuck'n things. You can have some if you want yorkling. Anyway, turn on lifty, hate lifty if you will, let these big shoulders carry the frustration, but, as you are, as we all are, always remain loyal to Phil... and the corgis. The real battlers... there's a 'science', a wisdom, an evolved, enlightened brilliance to it. And some would say, its all we've fuck'n got anyway.

Blacks. I surfed it in a 'special', a champ's way too! I didn't even have to get out of the car! Excelled in me risk/reward calculations, borrowed a famous quote, and screeched to all and sundry that there was no point, that I would simply 'charge too hard', snapped every board I came in contact with... not because I'm a kook, but because I shred... then to top it, off realised I'd taken the wrong turnoff and was surfin' and chargin' heaps heavier shit. And I rescued 'the kid' off the rocks while I was at it too!!! Not that he would remember.
