Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.

Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.

nice tip, icandig, I think I have a book he did with Glenn A Baker, and one about Gudinski. Cyril Jordan from the Groovies has a regular column called 'san francisco beat!' in Ugly Things mag, endless reminiscences.. https://ugly-things.com/

[3:00] The Creatures

1965 The Creatures rocked into a Surfers 3 month Resident Gig..each with Different Coloured Hair.
Teen Chix would break outta bedroom windows to see them...they also ran a stint down Cooly.
1965 Goldie did have a local punk band called The End...+ a few lesser knowns...
Surfers had some good Psych Clubs also...Quite a few Southern Bands got wasted on the Drugz!

Best '60's Oz Punk Track..(Ugly Thing ~ The Creatures)...tbb also has this LP....too good it is!

Might have shared these two before. But i'm still torn on which version i like best. The BR original is always the original and so melodic and classic,...but the Pridebowl version....pretty damn good.

Sorry - slow to reply. After listening further I got bored and gave up with Stuart Coupe's memoirs. A lot of name dropping of artists I either don't know or have no interest in. Not enough story. Might give it another run down the track, but not interesting enough for now. Re: Cyril Jordan, I'll definitely check that out. Cheers B6.

cheers @blackers.. being a bit of a self-imposed-austerity addict, I have no wherewithal to listen online when I'm on the move, which is when I think 'fun' radio.. love when I get whispers of RRR on a beach somewhere though. I should definitely get into the habit of having it on at home digitally sometimes.

here's a fun thornbury family day out @icandig!  drop the kids/grandies to penders park with drinks and a ball. https://www.darebin.vic.gov.au/Events-and-facilities/Parks-and-playgroun...
..then wander off and drop a guitar that needs a clean up to https://www.tksguitarandamprepair.com.au/  (he's like a VJ kinda dude) then head down to look at the second hand boards at https://www.zaksurfboards.com/secondhand-surfboards/  (gotta love a shop whose homepage banner reads like an incredulous russian tour-guide description)

..rejoin the park group for a walk to get a colombian hotdog, or to the lebanese bakery, then as they head back to the park, treat yourself, and check out lulu's https://lulusmelb.com/ (they always have multiple Ugly Things issues, free Cyril Jordan column browse!)

That's unreal @blackers. Mackaye has a voice that i could pick out in an instant, but this is so different. But unmistakable all the same. Loved it.
Here's a Bad Religion classic. The lyrics, the song, the way it feels.
A pretty powerful song. Definitely leaned on it in the past when the world got a little hectic and i'm sure i will again. Probably close to my favourite song of their vast colletion. The way Graffin hits those notes, with conviction, especially the high notes in the chorus....spine tingling. "anxiety destroys us but it drives the common man...foundation of society anxiety....supress it if you can"
Incredible lyrical and vocal genius.

Speaking of tours, these guys are coming out in November. Don't let the metal aesthetic fool you, these guys have a pretty solid punk sound.

Mark Arm's fave song, for all those dog lovers overleaf..

(Mark Arm is being the Saints' frontman when a cool Frankenstein version of the band tours in November):

Joining founding guitarist Ed Kuepper and drummer Ivor Hay will be singer Mark Arm, from the Seattle band Mudhoney. Arm replaces the original singer and primary lyricist, Chris Bailey, who died in April 2022.

Behind them will be the former Sunnyboys bass player Peter Oxley... and guitarist Mick Harvey, of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Kuepper and Bailey had a tumultuous personal relationship after the band splintered after the recording of their third album, Prehistoric Sounds, in 1978. Bailey carried on under the Saints’ name until his death, using a rotating cast of musicians.
