I have already had 1st AZ shot, 2nd next week and as I said I am more than happy to sit alongside many many millions of people in the future and as we are all dying because of the vaccine be proud that at least we had a go.

Questioned my doc before the first jab. Not to the extent of questioning you suggest but was more than happy with his highly medically trained response. Not feeling any remorse about not consulting an opinionated poster on swellnet before having the jab. That is a burden I must carry.

No one is forcing anyone to get vaccinated in Australia.
You wont feel better for not having a vaccine if (when) you get covid.

Watched some BBC news this morning. A Covid update was one story but just one of many. Covid was noted as less in August than expected and some general concerns of an increase in Cornwall from a surf festival (damn those wild sufies)

Then off onto stories about retail sales and Andrew Lloyd Webber's new show - Cinderella.

In short Covid was close to a non - issue in a relatively normal news day. No lock downs!

Vaccination is an open doorway to that future. Alternatives that are politically acceptable? - can't see any...

Canada is banning all travel without vaccines. New Zealand is locking down the entire country because of ONE CASE of COVID. This is the most irresponsible leader of any country. Many of us are hesitant concerning the vaccines, not just because they were developed in 2 days on a computer program, but deep concerns that they may result in altering your DNA and possibly impact fertility. The Israeli government has reported that the Pfizer vaccine is only 39% effective. There is just no data available as to the long-term effects of these new experimental vaccines that mess with your DNA.

Meanwhile, the claims that the whole world had to be vaccinated to terminate COVID were a lie. Biden has been struggling to try to explain that the vaccinated can still contract and spread COVID, for any virus that also infects animals cannot be eradicated as was the case with smallpox. The animal population will always produce new variants naturally (e.g., Bird Flu, Swine Flu). All of this flies in the face of trying to restrict movement with COVID Passports which are really intended for climate change. Entering into this quagmire is GlaxoSmithKline and Vir Biotechnology with Sotrovimab, the newest antibody therapy, developed after a large collaborative study by scientists from across the nation who have worked together and discovered a natural antibody (in the blood of a COVID-19 survivor) that has remarkable efficacy that will NOT alter your DNA. Sotrovimab is authorized for use under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), so there is no dispute, and it is for “the treatment of mild-to-moderate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in adults and pediatric patients (12 years of age and older weighing at least 40 kg) with positive results of direct SARS-CoV-2 viral testing, and who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death.”

Experiments showed that this antibody, called S309, neutralizes all known SARS-CoV-2 strains. The newly emerged mutations can now be known as the breakthroughs as well as the closely related original SARS-CoV virus. This Molecular Biology Consortium used beamlines at two labs to perform x-ray crystallography on samples of survivor-derived antibodies during an early phase of the study. This work, alongside other crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy findings, contributed to generating a detailed structural map of how these antibodies bind to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. This further allowed the wider team to select the most promising candidates enabling them to advance this analysis to cell culture and animal-based studies. Following the lab results, the developers designed Sotrovimab based on the structure of S309 and then advanced to clinical trials.

The FDA granted a EUA for Sotrovimab in late May after trials showed that people with mild to moderate COVID-19 infections who received an infusion of the therapy had an 85% reduction in rates of hospitalization or death, compared with placebo. However, as the new mutations began to appear, it was understood that a new pathogenic coronavirus could emerge from an animal-human real crossover event in the future. This is what I have been saying that there is no vaccine that will exterminate this virus. Bill Gates is either stupid, or he deliberately lied that once the world was vaccinated, we would return to normal.

This team of scientists began a follow-up study exploring what factors make antibodies resistant to viral breakthroughs. They needed to know how certain antibodies are also broadly reactive against related viruses mutations. Using biochemical and structural analysis, deep mutational scanning, and binding experiments, they were then able to identify one antibody with unparalleled universal potency. They were able to discover an antibody that neutralizes ALL KNOWN forms of this virus so far. They believe, based upon animal trials that this antibody could even PREVENT a COVID-19 infection if given prophylactically.

You say you asked your doc, do you realise and did your doc discuss with you that under AHPRA they cannot actually provide you with any balanced feedback that goes against the WHO line?

Pretty comfortable with my relationship with my GP and he obviously put his 20+ year career on the line when he did give balanced, unbiased and real world expert advice a few weeks before I got jabbed. I decided to go ahead and get vaccinated for the following reasons;

1. My Job was/is undertaken at multiple sites, some of which were hospitals. I had to be vaccinated to continue to do my job at those sites.

2. Having a mobile job, I concluded, could increase my potential exposure (Just like hundreds of thousands of others) so vaccination seemed appropriate.

3. But by far the biggest factor was doing everything I could possibly do to reduce the risk to my wife and kids.

4. I live in a community, a city. That community provides me with an income that helps support my family. That community provides friendships, help and support in hard times and amazing experiences and fun and security etc etc. So anything I can do to protect that I am more than happy to do.

Like VJ, I have personal reasons for getting it and also wishing other people would too.

The largest study yet to examine the efficacy of COVID vaccines in the wild has just been published by the University of Oxford and UK Office for National Statistics, and unsurprisingly it found that the efficacy rates for the Pfizer and Moderna are significantly lower than the 90%+ rates first advertised from the initial controlled trials.

According to the study, a preprint of which was published on Thursday, while the Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca jabs still offer "good" protection against new infections, their efficacy has been reduced compared with Alpha. While having two doses of either vaccine still provides "at least the same level of protection as having had COVID-19", those who were vaccinated after already being infected demonstrated even higher levels of protection than those who either weren't infected and only received the jabs, or were infected, but didn't receive the jabs.
