Like Christianity, Aboriginal spirituality has much beauty, there is much common sense and sanity, but literal interpretations of some of it are proven wrong by science - but this doesn’t diminish their value or utility since both are much larger than these bits, and in the future we will prove much current scientific knowledge as also wrong.

But to argue that Aboriginal people have some special connection to the land and are some kind of utopian stewards of it is fanciful nonsense, for two reasons.

First, when making their way to Australia, Aboriginal people were at war with and slaughtered homo sapien and all archaic humans in their path, and they strongly interbred with the archaic humans they slaughtered. Australian Aboriginal have the highest percent of archaic human DNA compared to all other peoples.

Second, just like when all other homo sapiens entered and settled into a new part of earth, when Aboriginal people settled in Australia there was a mass extinction event of a huge variety of flora and particularly large fauna. Aboriginal people modified the natural environment to their advantage and killed, ate and extincted all large fauna.

No Homo sapiens are free of guilt or somehow exempt from environmental damage or war with others.

Judeo-Christianity had a massive, likely the most important, influence on Western civilisation and its prosperity, overall way of life, high living standards, culture and customs, values and traditions, education system, legal system, and overall worldview. We are all very much living in the Christian world and are very Christian in our behaviours and outlook whether we admit to it or not.

The DNA you’re referencing(Neanderthal DNA) is shared by others. In particular those of Papua New Guinea and other parts of Melanesian. The Phillipines also have outlier populations containing very similar DNA.

What garbage you write, of course Aboriginal people have a greater connection to land , unlike us European derived folks, aboriginal people value and valued the land upon which it sustains/ed them. We just destroy everything we touch, greed.

They’ve never been about destroying their land, ( after all it is their land) they had it taken off them, true, they did impact fauna and altered floral systems especially in the late Pleistocene, but not all systems, to their advantage, they were farmers, not hunters and gatherers like we like to label them.
They were and still are great readers of the land , it’s obvious, they’ve been here so long. Spend enough time on a land mass, you’ll surely acquire knowledge, and lots of it.

Having been married for 30 years, to a Doctor of Archaeology whose area of expertise is Aboriginal Pre History. I’ve learnt a lot, it’s fascinating.
Flora is my field, so write what you like and I’ll keep correcting you.

You’re the fanciful dreamer, not aboriginal people, purporting to know more than you actually do.
Google is your friend I imagine. AW

My (ex) wife is Swedish, I know Scandinavia very well.

Historically huge users of herbicide application, just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not done damage.

In fact for the last 35 years of travel to there, the natural occurrence of three in particular plants Red Poppies,, White Daisy and Blue Cornflower have almost been entirely eradicated from their biosystems.
You can look at occupied working farms and spot the ones that use these chemicals, none of the aforementioned plants visible, it’s rare to see a paddock full of naturally occurring wild flowers, it’s so rare that often car loads of people stop to photograph the scant remains of once natural systems.

I think you’ve be seduced by the cool air, cool water, blonde hair, blue eyes and the almost look of purity of people of Scandinavia, similarly across the ditch here, NZPure is such a fallacy of an advertisement it’s also a nation that’s drowned in herbicide use.
You know shit about the topics you keep posting, just a chest pumped out fraud. AW

Edit. Oh, if you are going to use places or countries that are not very old at all in regards to the occupation of its lands by people, typically only a few thousand years, it’s a pretty poor starting point for criticism about a group whose been managing land for at 47,500 years.
Europe is not old at all (again seduced by old buildings and the look of age) in reference to what you are talking about, again, you know shit.

I'm sorry Alfred, but you couldn't be more wrong again.

Homo sapiens have been living in the area we call (even northern) Europe for as long, if not longer, than they have been in Australia - at least 45,000 years, and some estimates over 50,000 years.

In fact, the latest genetic mapping indicates that Homo sapiens have been in what we call Europe for at least 185,000 years.

The environmental and living standard outcomes of many of these areas can only be described as sheer perfection. They are majestic places of beauty and role models of land stewardship.

At what point do you lunatic progressives admit that your beliefs are based on anti-white person ideology and not fact and science?

Anti-white. Are you for real ? Just because people hold and respect Australian Aboriginal peoples history in high regard, again for the prolonged occupation of land , doesn’t mean any of us are anti-white, far from it, see, now you’re are using colour in a discussion that isn’t about what colour your skin is, it was about connection to land and land use.
Whatever gave you the motivation to make such a stupid statement, I know, stupidity.
I think you’re the one with the problem, you and your constant use of the word ‘progressive’ is well, bordering on regressive .
You’ve got issues fella.
Living on Cloud 9 in an elite gated community must give you a high sense of entitlement, integrity and righteousness. A purist as such.

It's getting more and more confusing for me. We have being "First Nation" becoming very trendy lately. Most of those Australians have Anglo Saxon first and surnames and appear to have somewhere around 20-25% of Indigenous heritage, so they have European, English, Scandinavian etc etc heritage as well. But they appear to have discarded or ignored that heritage and continually refer to "my people" meaning Aboriginal people. So to think these people have more connection to our land than other Australians is laughable.

https://www.pan-europe.info/press-releases/2023/09/glyphosate-pollution-...

https://www.publiceye.ch/en/topics/pesticides/banned-in-europe

“ Food production systems in Europe rely on chemical pesticides to maintain crop yields. However, widespread pesticide use is a major source of pollution — contaminating water, soil and air, driving biodiversity loss, and leading to pest resistance. Human exposure to chemical pesticides is linked to chronic illnesses such as cancer, and heart, respiratory and neurological diseases.”

“ European agricultural production relies on high volumes of chemical pesticides to maintain crop yields. From 2011 to 2020, pesticide sales in the EU-27 remained relatively stable at around 350,000 tonnes per year.
In 2020, one or more pesticides were detected above thresholds of concern at 22% of all monitoring sites in rivers and lakes across Europe. 83% of agricultural soils tested in a 2019 study contained pesticide residues.
Pesticide pollution drives biodiversity loss in Europe. It causes significant declines in insect populations, threatening the critical role they play in food production.
A large-scale human biomonitoring study conducted between 2014 and 2021 across five European countries found that at least two pesticides were present in the bodies of 84% of survey participants. Pesticide levels were consistently higher in children than in adults.
Achieving the pesticide-related targets set in the farm to fork strategy will require significant additional efforts. We could reduce our dependency on chemical pesticides to maintain crop yields and our overall pesticide use volumes by shifting to alternative models of agriculture, such as agroecology. ”

saurasv1. Hi mate. Laughable hey. Well from the evidence that exists right in front of us today, I can tell you, as a species, we are not doing a very good job.

Officially cleared more than half the continent of its vegetation by November last year, highest rates of extinction globally, everything we attempt to do for our society, we fuck up natural systems in the mean time.

Analogous to putting a groyne at a beach to resolve an issue, just merely sending the problem further down the coast.

We are repeating the gross mistakes the US have made with land use, any surprise, no, our society is a facsimile of theirs.

As usual gs-co knows very little about the topic he/she raised.

It was about which group/s of people have the most archaic DNA on earth and a discussion about connection to land. Period.

I posted my reply, Australian aborigines, Melanesians and some Phillipine outliers have the most archaic DNA on earth, it’s very easy to understand this is possible, after all , Australia is the oldest known land mass on earth.

This is not saying other areas of the world such as Europe don’t have Neanderthal DNA, they do.

But that wasn’t the topic.

He/she consistently contorts discussion to hammer on home his/her own personal dislike for the acknowledgment that comes the way of our First Nation people.
He or she is not the only one on these forums that thinks that way

Is it really so hard to say ‘yep that’s old’ it’s our aboriginal people and be proud of the ongoing history. To say they don’t have some kind of connection is to me, plain getting around with your head in the sand, similarly walking around with your ears, eyes and brain not open.

So, pal, offer me up your explanation with some solicited and validated facts . Good to chat. AW
