Great win Lions. Lived on the Goldy during their threepeat so have a soft spot for them. Even went to Brisbane for their celebratory parade through the streets after their third. Smashed those swannies today. Probably broke their spine for the next 5 years too. hehe. Yew!
How good
Smashed them.
Best team of the year got totally destroyed by the Lions

Australia Cup Final {live} 10 Bold
Thursday nights 46000 Adelaide crowd got to see some ordinary football with a few good goals.
The POPA era started by beating China 3-1,a game all the other teams win too.(Chinas best player was out injured)
Tuesday night its Japan away and they beat the Chinese 7-0 and are unbeaten on 9 points with SR 2nd(goal difference) with 4 points.WE have never won in Japan,so its a true test of where we are.I'll think a draw is the best result to expect.
In A league news it STARTS next weekend and the TV presentation(TenBold) has changed to 2 games each SoccahSaturday!First game at 5 then best game of the round at 7/30-7.45ish is usually KO times.
The Sydney DERBY comes in Round one, I thinks its too soon, round 4/5 is a smarter option BUT the "marketers" want to start with the biggest sporting event in Oztralia. Both teams have new players coming in.FC have a big time Brazzo and WSW have JuanMatta the famous Spanish player, these 2 should draw a decent crowd.its at CommBank Parra stadium. Those naughty RBBers will show up for sure.RIOT cops like the OT pay rates,I wonder how many 14yos they detain?
China's big play maker Pro goalie captain shocked Popa to stare into the Abyss of a shocker run.
Can see popa milked an injury time for coach session with on hand new Capt Playmaker.
That was recently less so an option with Capt Goalie a long way from central Coach Booth.
Arnold's back up Capt / coach Irvine / New Keeper combo have 4/4 wins 9 for 2 against.
Player of the year / 70 caps Irvine plays central role directing plays & mops-backs up!
Also avails for Throw in runner but avoids heavy tackles so not to risk being carded.
Seems as if Popa relies on or promises equally secure immunity as our remote Goalie Captain Coach.
Ya won't see new Captain fight for ball or storming attacks but will direct the play as a Ref / Coach.
Pretty much echoes Coach's directive from central sideline to orchestrate central play.
Even saw Chinese dude take him out for this vital Playmaker role....enough...get him.
Can see Popas new Capt vocalizing & pointing even setting plays in motion from the get go...
You'll see him there to congratulate scorer as he follows the play thru from origins.
If ya follow that last Goal back to the source > see Irvine briefly turn to call on runner to follow thru.
Blink and you'll miss it...only the team all know who called it on...we don't reward the Capt' from here!
Stirring stuff to see Oz orchestrate attacking plays as a central game plan put in motion...
tbb & other punters called for a missing central playmaker & were rewarded.
If ya wanna know if it's organic as if Captained from our Spectator's perspective...Watch This...
2006 World Cup Irvine Grandstand Spectator Vid...says he craves that fan's feeling!

Started with quite a few fast long low driven passes to Central Frontline facing own team players.
Sth American option buys Free Kicks + affords full suite of optional supporting runners.
That early 10 min period looks new & exciting for Socceroos...so many solid chances...not seen that for ages!
Not saying it was a triumph...just that it shows attacking Aussie spirit with play-making intent!
Passing was much faster and more often...again against lesser opponent but keeps team in the hunt!
Pretty sure the EU default back line directive has moved forward 20m for attacking in Asian Games.
Japan match will decide if Oz defaults to defensive stronghold or promotes Central defence > attack plan!
Sure! We almost got caught out but equally played offside super well...salute the high risk option.
Commentator remarked how rare for Oz Goalie to see or touch the ball...
tbb did earlier envisage that by controlling central play then Oz cuts down on opposition raids.
Interesting regular offside trap reward's defensive play with immediate set play return attack option.
Yes! Did notice how professional that was...almost Rock Solid Central Euro defence/attack Strategy.
This option will likely cost a goal but equally prevents wearing out yer goalie.
Mostly coz Oz is in control of Game > Record High Oz possession of 85% was noted thru game...Wow!
Also noted that more possession led to more fans cheering Matilda Style Football Flow! Love that!
Oz said they're playing to win against Japan...meaning > Popa's new Central Attack shape!
More than happy to continue with new attack mode! Soon see if that's rewarded or punished.
Here's the China Game...agree with quadzilla> mostly ordinary but an equally refreshing new style!
Coz now got a Play Making Captain to View...so that's an instrumental change for Oz! Long missed that!
Should work well 2nd time 'round with a more polished sharper version! (Match should play when ya click!)
1-1 v Japs in Tokyo, a great result last night.
Maintaining second by goalDiff with 2 others.
POPA has made a difference.
OH Geees

Not sure about recently but George lived in the bush near Bellingen around 20 years ago.
He formed a team of youngsters guided by an Ex Liverpool player Jay something, said team played in the premier league from whoopee to Port/kempsey. Someone I know played in that team and visited the BellO property ,said it was pretty neat.Living areas detached from sleeping areas was the way it was described to me.
He was great on 60mins and a dedicated roundBaller as a hobby/passion.RIP
So two rounds of A league completed with Auckland victory WU central coast Wellington unbeaten...2 wins, 2 draws and a win and a draw for those teams.Adelaide has a bye and a draw.Brisbane and Perff 2 losses which is par for those teams.
The first KiwiCup happens next Saturday ..the local derby with Wellington at home to Auckland who are ShotHot right now with 2 wins.
This morning the round of 16 in CaraboCup in England.
Teams getting through and quarter final games
SpursY v ManU (and they will want revenge)
Newcastle v Brentford
Southhamsters v LiverPools
Arses V Palace.. a nice London derby with palace kicking everything that moves.
Socceroos (vs) Green Falcons (Live 10 / Now)
Irvine as Capt / Gauci in Goals (Same as China / Japan)
Probably not big with the SN crew, but this guy is the real deal. With UK 1.5 Billion pounds on the pitch (Liverpool v City, great game also) he totally shone
