Autumn is really kicking into gear around Australia with both the east and west coasts due to be hit by large swells over the coming week.
Cloudbreak is going to pump on Monday and Tuesday, two days before the waiting period of the Quiksilver Pro finishes.
Tonga is expected to see large swell from the north and potentially a follow up swell from the south as the system drifts south in close proximity to the Polynesian island. The southern coasts of Fiji will also see medium to large levels of SE swell through this weekend.
On the back of a relatively poor cyclone season earlier in the year, it's welcoming to see the first signs of tropical activity forming in the Fiji region.
As such, we are now anticipating a large SW groundswell arriving next weekend, that could very well produce 8-10ft surf at Cloudbreak.
The ideal swell setup for Fiji usually originates from a passage of strong cold fronts extending from the Southern Ocean through the Tasman Sea. This often creates broad areas of south-westerly gales, which in turn generates long period south-westerly swells.

Gold Coast photographer, Ryan Williams, ain't the sort of fella to go birdwatching on holidays yet when a flock of terns recently flew through the Fijian lineup he kept shooting. The birds make for a brooding, Hitchcock vision against the perfect tropical barrels. Except, that is, for the bloke spreading his own wings in the last shot. Ain't nothin' spooky about him.

Victorian surfers have just come off the back of one of the worst summers in recent history, thanks to persistent south-easterly winds and small swells. But now with the change of seasons the Southern Ocean has fired up in a big way; an oversized south-westerly groundswell is expected to make landfall this Friday and Saturday.
