Keep your nose clean and rails dry

On Thursday a crew of young Australian (and a lone Italian) kept out of trouble and out of the water during an air session on the far north coast of NSW. The cast in order of appearance are Coby Perkovich, Leonardo Fioravanti, Mikey Wright, Mitch Parkinson, and Tyler Wright who threw it up there for the ladies.

All photos Ryan (RYZphoto) Williams. Check his page here, it's worth your while.

Don't Say Kirra Is Back

Don't say Kirra is back, there's been too many false starts. Twenty metre speed runs caught on film and uploaded to YouTube, the images belying the 1:100 success ratio. Still images underneath headlines proclaiming her return as the outer bank - the bane of modern Kirra - is kept conveniently out of frame.

Don't say Kirra is back, because the powers that be will believe you and spend no more on improvements. Each time the words are uttered they're relayed to Gold Coast City Council who believe no further work is needed. The Bring Back Kirra crew stymied by the claim.

One Crowded Hour

Yeah, they're all crowded hours on the Gold Coast breaks but the locals get their share regardless of the numbers. During this session Mick, Hammo, Eddie Kelly, Gossman and others - including a dangerously high-flying Joe Haddon - picked off the best of the sets. Kudos to the longboarder stalling while setting up a stylish layback (Shot 5).

Tropical Pacific

From three months in Northern Indonesia to a month in Fiji, Gold Coast photographer, Ryan Williams, has been firmly tethered to the tropics. Whilst in Fiji he got hit by a cyclone and stranded without power, water or a toilet. He also scored the obligatory blue water barrels.

Here's the first Session in a short series.

Birds of Paradise

Gold Coast photographer, Ryan Williams, ain't the sort of fella to go birdwatching on holidays yet when a flock of terns recently flew through the Fijian lineup he kept shooting. The birds make for a brooding, Hitchcock vision against the perfect tropical barrels. Except, that is, for the bloke spreading his own wings in the last shot. Ain't nothin' spooky about him.

PS: I can't confirm if the birds are terns but in the course of research - yeah, I take this shit seriously - I found out there's a bird called a Rough-faced Shag.
