An improvement in the wind outlook east of Melbourne through the weekend, with cold, windy and low quality surf developing next week.

Sunday should see much better quality E/NE swell as the low pushing down from the tropics drags a fetch of E/NE winds into the Tasmanian swell window.
Nothing major surf or swell wise but ideal days for beginners and longer boards.
Clean conditions with fun swell pulses to end off the week ahead of a larger, windy S/SW swell Sunday. Slower surf into next week but clean from Tuesday onwards.
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (issued on Wed 25th May)
This weekend and next week (May25-June3)
Central QLD: Get in while you can. Surf easing to tiny/flat by the weekend
Last days of an incredible run of E swell ahead, so get in if you can.
Attention will still be focused on the tropics/sub-tropics as a surface low forms at the northern end of the trough off the CQ coast through Thurs/Fri and tracks southwards into the weekend, bringing (another!) rebuild in E’ly swell.
Synoptic pattern still has a ground-hog day feel to it, with a large, slow moving high inching it’s way across the Tasman and a coastal trough lying parallel to almost the entire East Coast. Change is on the way though.
A mixed period with varying winds and swells, best down South on the weekend.
A fun weekend across spots west of Melbourne with a window to the east next week before a strong, cold low moves in across us.
Through later Wed we’ll see some small NE windswell pop up as the high meanders into the Tasman and the western flank pushes NE winds down the coast from southern NSW into Bass Strait.
