Nias, Mentawai, South Sumatra forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Tuesday 28th Jul)

Best Days: Friday onwards

This week and next week (Jul 29 – Aug 7)

Nothing to really report this morning, but a small new S/SW groundswell is due this afternoon, peaking tomorrow to an infrequent 3-4ft+ or so before easing Thursday. Winds will be average and fresh from the SE though, easing from Thursday.

Our better S/SW groundswell for the end of the week is still on track, with exposed breaks due to reach and inconsistent 5-6ft+ Friday afternoon, and then ease slowly from a similar size range Saturday morning, down further Sunday and Monday.

Winds should be more variable across the Ments Friday through the weekend and into most of next week.

South Sumatra will see fresher SE trades, becoming variable from Monday next week.

Unfortunately longer term there's still nothing major on the cards for Western Indonesia, with the Indian Ocean remaining relatively benign.

Hopefully there's some hope on the horizon in Thursday's update.
