Watch: Calm Under Pressure
As it's not the most spectator friendly wave - no barrel, no turns - much of the voyeurism at Nazare comes from watching some poor bastard cop a drubbing or get washed onto the rocks. In lieu of performance, this is the near-death drama we want to see.
So it's with mild disappointment that I see Toby Cunningham cheering and goofing off after taking four waves on the head while wearing an inflatable vest. I mean, if it's not even dangerous, who really cares?
Toby, who's from Southern California and is a crypto currency trader, was back in the Nazare lineup an hour later.

5 whitewaters on the head is not 5 waves breaking top to bottom on your head, life jacket, 2 skis , more yawns from the nazare herofest
That's Toby, probably more experience that anyone out there. And a
real nice bloke too.
Well SaidTim.
I think the surfers name was Toby.
Campbell don't knock it until you have seen it. Its one hell of a nasty
mean and genuine life threating wave.
Not knocking the wave itself Evo, just the horn blowing/chest beating of the scene with the surfers there , guy tows into a wave thats not by Nazare standards anything special (toted as the biggest day of the year but think we've seen plenty of same and bigger already this season) goes straight for too long, gets too slow and falls off then bobs around going under whitewater of broken waves for a couple of minutes, big deal , compared for example with Twiggys clip for the exact opposite end of the big wave spectrum, humble guy paddles into and absolute bomb ,barley makes the steps on the drop and then pulls into a big fuck off barrel , legend
