Volunteers wanted at Nias!
Friends of Nias is a recently established foundation providing medical help to the people of Lagundri Bay.
They're currently recruiting volunteers to work in their clinic. This involves running a free daily clinic at the volunteer's convenience (usually for 1-3 hours). The clinic would be run with a local team of Dr Asni, plus nurses and a pharmacist. As there's a local 4G tower, Friends of Nias can offer remote help for diagnostic challenges.

The role is suitable for any doctor, nurse, physio, or paramedic.
Senior medical students are welcome and may get accredited for elective/option time. Any period can be accomodated, from one week up to eight weeks.
Volunteers can stay at the Friends of Nias clinic in an air-conditioned bedroom within the clinic, situated right across the road from the point.
The accommodation is modest but free. The clinic fully equipped.
There are waves all year, with larger swells more frequent from April to October.
This is a great opportunity to be immersed in the village community and make a real difference. Health issues are not well served at Lagundri Bay and there is minimal access for locals. All locals are treated free of charge, with tourists billed through their travel insurance
Friends of Nias are filling the roster for 2019 and beyond right now.
Please direct all enquiries to the Friends of Nias website.
