"The wave starts on dry rock and ends on dry rock" says Alex Gray, yet the section in between is so good he and Anthony Walsh travel thousand of kays and endure just-above-ice temperatues to score it.
i commend him for his enthusiasm and friendly nature but he has to be one of the most unlikable characters i can think of. we all have 1 mate like that, spend more than 15 minutes with them and you want to kill them. i really want to like him cos i can tell hes harmless but he almost makes your skin crawl with the hyperactivity and childish tendencies.
fuck that was harsh i probably better go do something nice for someone now to make up for it.

Yes harsh mate...but not without merit...it's not a voice or demeanour for narration or storytelling. He does seem to be all over the planet getting epic waves though.

fuck that, there are more important things than waves...
"To go home and wear shorts forever
in the enormous paddocks, in that warm climate,
adding a sweater when winter soaks the grass,
to camp out along the river bends
for good, wearing shorts, with a pocketknife,
a fishing line and matches,
or there where the hills are all down, below the plain,
to sit around in shorts at evening
on the plank verandah - ..."

Cool flick. Interesting that this wave doesn't look like it would have been as easily spotted via Google Earth as more typically satellite derived locations have been found (i.e. long points, rivermouths). I wonder how they came across it?

I really enjoyed the vid and yeah, Alex is a bit Yahoo but you can't deny his enthusiasm
Coincidentally, just last week I flew over the Aleutions and was just staring out the window from 38,000 ft just in awe of how ruggged and isolated they were. I wondered if there were any people there? There was clearly plenty of swell and set up after set up.
Also, those two very distinctive mountains at the end of the vid? I wonder if they were the ones I photographed from the air? I will try and post a couple of pic.
